It’s a fair point then, since most people with high watermarks make money by selling the “good” (but not BIS) gear they receive, and using that to hopefully fund a better / BIS piece of gear. The experienced player benefits, as does the new player.
However, the result of this is that everything below ~580 GS is worthless. There’s stuff with perfect perks at ~520 GS listed for ~30 coins, and presumably there’s no market for this kind of stuff. So playing the game as a new player, increasing water mark slowly, must currently feel pointless since everything you receive is trash. You can buy a “good” piece of gear for ~200-300 coins from the trade post instead.
Actual BIS items cost upwards of 30k on our server. Not a value of gold I’ve frequently had (although if I chose to criple myself by not buying any houses I suppose I could have bought maybe 3 items by now?)
Not saying you’re wrong, because you’re not technically wrong. You can of course get lucky and grind enough gold and get maybe one or two BIS items on the TP. A full set is stretching it of course.
But, and I stress this again… that is not “easy” as you implied with your “bit of work” comment. It’s a thowaway comment that isn’t particularly based in reality at all. Crafting (and moreso all the gathering) up to 200 to make stuff that isn’t BIS (voidbent) is a huge effort for one player. Huge. I know how much it requires. I also know how much effort is required to get your GS up to 600gs and get an item that isn’t BIS, too. It’s a lot. I personally think chest zergs are horrendous but I understand that those who ground out high gear scores doing it had to put in a lot of hours to do it.
So, given that all avenues take a ton of time and effort to reach the end… Why the hell must we do both then? Is this not a fecking game? Why must it be so much work? Why double down on that work? Why take an existing design that allows freedom to choose your path and then burn it all in favour of an on rails process that must be followed, irrespective of your chosen path?
Your answer was “because you should work for it”.
What the hell do you think most of us have done for the past 2 months? Hit an I win button and load up a full set of BIS gear?
It’s got nothing to do with “work”. It’s all about what we find fun. And believe it or not, one or two of us don’t find HWM grinding fun.
And did they make crafting orbs much much easier and merge all the servers so there is enough people on to get a dungeon run done? Nope. Until they do that this system sucks. Even then it stil sucks.
The way I read it is, yeah you can get one guarenteed upgrade per day, one. How much will that take to get them all upgraded? Months? How much can it go up in that upgrade? 1 point? Sounds horrible.
I think they covered all the bases. The people who grinded watermark will quit along with the people who haven’t, oh yeah crafters will quit too. Good job they may have finally done it. Bots don’t buy things from the in game shop, I wonder if they know that.
Please stop publishing false information OP. There is no mention about what you rant about on patch notes. Its a fake photoshop image you posted and ppl like you should recieve the ban hammer on forums.
Why would support have any clue?? I don’t know why people bother asking this stuff to them haha. They can barely answer questions about the CURRENT state of the game, let alone future updates…
I reported the dev post for being toxic. Cause that was the most toxic thing i have read on this game to date. Ill see ya guys in archage/ ff online / ashes of creation and lost ark. Bags are packed
They just keep shooting themselves in the foot every time they make a change to the game. I literally slapped my head when I read this but it’s no real surprise at this point given how AGS thought it was ok to release the game at the state it was in when it came out. At this point I feel like AGS is just throwing stuff at a wall and hopes something good sticks, if not oh well, at least we finally got something to stick
All I’m reading is that I now have zero incentive to ever return to this game because players that got ahead using exploits now have had their margin of advantage protected by new game mechanics.
the game was probably better when it came out. More dev time doesnt improve the game.
I think what essentially happened was the fired most of the devs who made good design choices, or the work environment made them resign. And now you have a bunch of people don’t really understand the systems or game play designs other people made.
they also have very little consideration for player time/effort. They are thinking about long term improvements, the problem is many of the things they think will improve in the long term will not
