this is great advice. If You want play pvp as mage, just take SnS+Greatsword. This is mage build in new world now !!!
Give some love to mage Fire staff/ice gauntled⦠since launch just had nerfs, and nerfs, and nerfsā¦
ice gauntled with old Ice Wall , was the only protection that mages could have but now doenst mean nothing at pvp, and the Ice Tomb got nerfed too, before ice tomb had 100% of your life, and they nerfed the ice tomb life.
So today if you play Fs/ig you have to give your 200% gameplay to do something that others class do with 50% of gameplay

And what the heck happend to the ice tomb? if you press it twice you leave it instantly, if you are getting fked and panic a bit and press it more than once you are even more fked because you will use it for 0.01 seconds and then just die.
Lack of cc
Every weapon have ccs, every dps weapon can stagger or root or even stunlock you to die like blunderbuss. Mage have 1 second root, if you dont miss the 1 try heavy attack, and they can dodge while rooted. Also if they have freedom its less than 1 second xD

Mages are a joke. It is just not fun to play in PVP. If your idea of having options for builds is to restrict the ones that feel most natural as a combo, then you are reducing the options you have in the first place. And yet, here I am still trying to hold onto the hopes of having this balancedā¦

Spell casts & attacks make you walk for a few seconds ā Enough for even a snail to catch up to you

Light armor ā Just not feasible for Mage, you get hit? Hell, you could remove CC from all the melee weapons and theyād still catch up to you⦠Iām light, what grounds make it so that I take longer to start running?

Incinerate ā Broken, doesnāt register half the time, and when it does, doesnāt stagger, or if it does, just pushes the other players enough for them to still be in range of hitting youā¦

Ice Spikes ā the range of this spell is just ridiculous, it requires skill, which is great and rewarding but EVEN with Mighty Spike those 6m are just not working, try āpingā 6m away in game, IT DOES NOT have that range of 6m, just doesnāt, go ahead, try it outā¦

Ice Storm ā Should be something players would want to avoid, but hey, with all the meta builds and BIS items, people donāt even care walking into it⦠not even for the slow. I see some players getting 80DMG from it, 80 (with max of 250-300)!!! You would need 125 constant hits to kill a 10k HP player with that 80dmg. All the other DOTs from any weapon hurt 5x more than this.

- Increase the damage, but most preferably, just increase the slow, and make it stay longer. Thereās slows out there that last over 5 seconds!

Burn out ā this is how I feel after every OPR, for example, why the hell does Ripost make you immune to any kind of damage (even if it is a Pillar of Fire or anything else AOE) and yet with burn out you can still get CCād, hit, pulled, etc. Just a great useless skill (only viable if you flee 1minute before anyone gets near you). ā Either make players immune, or just reduce the cast time of the goddamn spell ffs.

Pillar of fire ā either too small to hit anything, you actually need to get really close to hit players because of the spell range, or just make a bigger area for it⦠High risk⦠low rewards (you go back to the initial point of lack of mobility)
And for a close⦠why the hell do we have muskets and bows, with constant damage despite the travel time/distance of the bullet/arrow, can shoot you across the map, while IG/FS looks like erectyle dysfunction⦠Man, the range of those shards/fire balls are just stupid. Mages are restricted to medium/close range fights because of the range you can hit your auto attacks. While getting snipped across the map. plus, it helps all the glap closer skills to just be nearer you so they donāt have as much hustle getting to you.
- Either increase the range, or increase the speed in which the auto attack travels, Iām not asking for instant shot across the map like those muskets of yours.
And before those bricks get thrown at me, just look at these examples;
- Thereās better slows/CCs in the game, even if there werenāt Mages have the worst.
- Headshots ⦠great mechanic, but unbalanced.
- Backstabbing, great mechanic, but unbalanced.
You dare to give these advantages to other classes, and yet, when someone ādogesā (ducking / side-stepping) within my AOEs they donāt take damage⦠What are they dodging? They are still in the AOE⦠give ducking a 30-40% chance of avoiding it at least, and side-stepping a 50-60% chance, but donāt tell me PPL shouldnāt be taking the damage in the middle of AOE⦠even if they dodgeā¦
Last but not least, all the other weapons have synergy with at least another attribute, Increasing the combos you can have.
You can go DEX or STR, or both and you still can use over HALF the weapons in the game. You go intelligence, good luck having a good time. Why the hell does BB, Musket doing in INT? ⦠Why isnāt FS and IG in Focus ? Void gauntlet isā¦
Please do something about this⦠thereās so many options there

it really doesnāt since you cannot choose when to trigger it in a real fight. But i also think that 300 str milestone is above every other in the game, including constitution and it shouldnāt be that way at all.
More than anything grit should be moved to Constitution (300) since cons is the most common secondary atribute in any build out there.
About int bonus i do believe it need some love, just as focus and everything that isnāt strenght need it as well.
AGS is well aware of the state of FS. Itās just a matter of whether or not they make it one of their āprioritiesā to fix the limp noodle coding that is FS animations and combat. FS has the worst hit box of all range weapons. Honestly they play so dumb while saying we all play New World here at New World but we are never aware of any current bugs or insane damage imbalance until theyāre reported. FS is one giant bug and so is IG half the time. If bow and musket users had their attacks firing in the wrong direction half the time it would get fixed fast. So next time they say theyāre in the war room all day watching videos, could someone play a video of a mage trying to move around an OPR. Itās like trying to survive a mass shooting scenario. Itās not fun, we have no mobility and our animatons are dog poo compared to all the other weaons. Mages need a caster shield at this point to counter the horde of arrows and bullets that fly at us doing 3x the damage with half the effort or getting slammed through the ground by constant stagger/stuns/knockback/knockdowns. If mages didnāt have aoe ticks we would be at the bottom of the scoreboard. @Luxendra
Devs are unlikely to prioritize fixing mages until metrics show that people arenāt playing them across a variety of content. Until that happens, itās clearly okay-ish enough for those players to live with it.
It bites for those of us that want to mage, but they gotta choose what items to address somehow.
Itās not a good business moto to wait until people leave to start fixing something. Metrics should show that Bows/Muskets getting 30+ kills every OPR that things need adjusting and have for a while now. Further, there are more than enough posts from casters begging for a reworks and posting videos of the bugged out gameplay. Ice storm has been casting on top of us instead of at the location since before the summer patch. Iām not trying to be mean but things are literally broken for us. BROKEN⦠not that damage is an issue but actually hiting the target due to bugs is the issue. Or having animations play out with no attack. Those are not okay things. And the CMās here are just not reponding to threads showing this or trying to get devs to address it and havenāt for months. I crit for 4k at most in 625 bis gear. I get hit for 8k crits all over the board.
Thatās all sh** and giggles until you actually realise half the skills do not work as intended, DMG no registering, Entomb making you paralyzed just because you switched weapons, ice pylon on infinite CD because you switch weapons. Game is BROKEN, It is not about just being a mage, it is about the Core Game mechanics that donāt do shit half the time because the client/backend is broken. I bet people on other classes have this issue, but RN it is just masked because they just do tons of damage and donāt even care, 2k less here, 2k less there, doesnāt matter, still get them kills
I hear you, Iām a mage, too. Some skills are incredibly frustrating and other just donāt work right. I feel like I see a whole lot fewer level 60 mages than I used to.
When ice gauntlet and fire staff are half broken, thereās just nowhere to go for a primary intelligence DPS weapon.
It does feel like ranged weapons were a friday afternoon thought. In PvE musket and bow sucks donkey donk and in PvP and PvE most mage stuff is just awful tuned and doesnt feel like much of a mage when you need to stand up the mobs butthole using flamethrower to do any sort of sustain.
Its extremely clunky too playing ranged. Melee is a cluster fuck by its own rights, but playing a mage is never a āsmoothā experience.
Yea im not playing unless this is fixed magic weapons are lacking enough.
If u want play mage efficient then take Great Sword and hatchet or SnS
those weapons are much better than FS/IG even if u are full INT.
FS and IG are bugged/nerfed to masochism level.
PTR patch so far seems to contain absolutely 0 changes to magical weapons or Intelligence. Looks like AGS is content with the terrible state of mages.
