I definitely believe that we should remain civil in our communication, but on the other hand i suppose many can’t help but wonder what is thr logic behind making the game more and more of a grind, basically killing every profession aside from cooking, arcana and stonecuting with the new changes you are preparing, adding another gold sink in a game thats already gold poor to an extent, and last but probably the worst (and something i cant remember from any other mmo ever) you will actually take away from players on a global scale that earned money to buy their gear instead of grinding it out and you will do that retroactively… That is just… I ll just say i dont uderstand how can you be so deluded as a team that you thought this was ok and acceptable to do… In real world it would be against the law to downgrade a product after you sold it (remember apple?) and now this is what you do to people who didnt grind their brains out.
I am sorry for being so long winded but i honestly believe your team needs to take a breather and think with a clear head where they want to go with this game… I personally believe you are steering in a very very precarious direction.
The problem is, there’s no reliable source of gold in the game. The Market Place prices are plummeting, I found a few niche stuff where I can still make decent gold but that’s not going to last, specially with the dwindling population.
This game needs NPC vendors to set BASE prices to everything. It’s not normal that most stuff goes for 0.01 gold. If a NPC vendor would buy those items for a base price, it would set the base price for the TP too.
The developers are more and more acting like people who don’t know what they are doing. If it’s under corporate pressure, I pity them, and I wouldn’t want to be in their place as a developer myself.
If this patch goes live as it is, the game is dead. And I’m not a doomsayer usually, I tend to support the game because I still think the base is solid and fun.
It’s also sad because their winter event is great. I played it a bit on the PTR and I just love that kind of content. I hope they won’t ruin it all with that crappy WM thing.
Overall I think most changes should be transparent however anything to do with economy shouldn’t.
Now everyone on my server is hoarding iron hide, wire fiber and orichalcum ore.
They have never done this. Which is why every time there’s a significant patch people simply do data mining in the game code to actually verify what has changed, and predictably every time there’s some silent nerfs in there or changes not mentioned, often unsurprisingly it’s some of the biggest or most outrageous changes.
AGS know that the community is doing this so to continue this behaviour is a bit suspect. The mods here ask that we don’t assign malice to this, but we know what’s going on, they know that we know what’s going on, AND we know that they know we know. Everyone knows. if it continues it’s not an accident or mistake and everyone understands that implicitly even if we’re basically banned from saying it here.
In fact banning the mentioning of it here is worse for AGS because people still talk about this on reddit and on guild and server discords among hundreds of players who all know what is going on, and so the suppression of the discussion just causes the Streisand effect outside of this forum and the information spreads further because it has that additional level of outrage to it.
just wanted to jump in here and write how this thread is full of misinformation and should be flagged as such.
there are too many factors. The OP couldnt possibly know how much it changes the current WM progression system. There are posts on reddit with the math and hes dead wrong on ten fold even in the current state, but theres a lot of info they dont have to finish calculating it. It’s not looking bad.
They are also greatly reducing the gold cost associated. Flame on OP.
You’re telling me the gold goes towards the fucking assholes who don’t upgrade their towns because they are too busy using tax money to upgrade all their fucking gear?
Jesus Fuck. This game just gets better and better.
the gold cost is being reduced because of the feedback
The gold needs to be fucking removed. Territory owners did not one fucking thing to deserve all that gold.
txes definately need a rework
i think that they should be fixed at 5% for housing and 1% for everything else.
half the money collected should go to the company that holds the town every week and the other half should stay with the town for upkeep and upgrades and that money would transfer with the setlement if captured
All that Gypsum gold needs to be marked as “town upgrade only” so these greedy company owners don’t go around spending it all on themselves while places like Windsward and Everfall sit on T3 crafting houses.
Or perhaps just releasing patch notes that tell the whole story - that is if AGS is even aware of whats being put into each patch, so far there ithere have always been ‘Oh yes we did that too but did not tell you about it’.
Smacks of headless chickens trying to stuff them selves into a pot
why didnt you read the original post ?
All these changes could be one of the best patches, but … We have significantly reduced the drop from mobs and chests + reduced the effectiveness of the 600 GS equipment without the pumped WM value.
If we just added another way to raise WM it would be great. You would just play a game and passively earn a cast for doing it every day without thinking about it. But reducing the effectiveness of the equipment just undermines many aspects of the game. You don’t need to have a star in your forehead to guess where this will lead.
1(( People who have reached level 60 and have been equipped with 600 GS equipment by their clan will be weakened.
2(( People who haven’t come to end game dangeons will be weakened. You need to go to the dungeon to get 600 GS, but you need to have 600 GS to go to the dungeon, because without HWM, legendary equipment is simply impossible to get. A vicious circle.
3(( People who saw their end game only as an OR game with good equipment, but reduced in efficiency, will more often die and lose to those from whom these restrictions have been removed. It is scary to even imagine how a user of light armor with low EX will look in future realities. Another reason to abandon light armor because the damage received is not commensurate with the bonus from a long roll (by the way, which can be caught up with the help of mobile abilities). I predict an OR that will only consist of heavy armor and Muskets on the rocks. Things are no better now, but light armor is ever more usable with its full effectiveness.
4(( Cities will be lost much more often due to the increased effectiveness of defenders
5(( Decreased efficiency casts doubt on buying / creating a Voidbend set. To pay 50k for a full set to be able to fully implement it only after 12 years of persistent grinding WM is simply ridiculous.
6(( People who stubbornly refused to grind WM and tried their best not to take part in the routine, finding more interesting activities for themselves will simply leave the game.
Nope. You almost had a post worth reading until you starting making stuff up and linking reddit as a source.
Probably for the nasty posts that mugsy mentioned were already removed by the moderators.
Some interesting points here. But I think you gloss over one really important flaw in the previous design…
A player who reaches 60 can immediately bypass all progression by simply buying or receiving the best gear available.
That being said… To many of your points (not all)… Those players who are being impacted by this change… They likely won’t be here long anyway. Because theres very little for then to do. In the previous world, the endgame is solely crafting, really, and the ability to give the highest bidder the best possible gear.
So IMHO, it needed to be fixed. And it’s no different from any other MMO, really. The big flaw in the approach is that it was originally designed the old/current way, and so players have played and grinded for 2 months now with a certain expectation of what their work would. Give in return. And now that expectation is being changed severely. Overall a positive for game health, for sure… But it’s a pill that must be swallowed in the short term.
I’d appreciate your thoughts.
not glossed over. actually posted about many times in this thread.
i reached 60 without ever getting past the fist expedition. i have over 400 hours in the game, playing and leveling the way i liked. instead of doing chest runs or expeditions, i chose to solo my way up and play like i would had i actually been there. i got all of my gathering up to 200, except trees and fishing, becasue i would rather run between the settlements killing, gathering and completing town quests then sell what i got to pay others who either craft or gather the gear and then sell it.
none of that gear is bis. it is all level 60 and has gotten me to 570-590ish. that is with 400+ hours of playing. that is anything but immediate bis
Seems like an opportunity there for another gypsum category, something relating to the town boards. Not sure how it could work but maybe special projects can show up that are heavy effort and can lead to gypsum and WM bumps.
Thanks for sharing, it’s cool to hear about other playstyles. And discuss things without it going toxic or personal.
…and I hope the changes end up working out for you. What you like doing in NW is unique from other MMOs, I think. And it’s be a shame if that was entirely lost.
I like going between the soloable villages to farm chests and harvest the small nodes here and there. It’s fun, challenging, has a small chance to bump my WM, fuels my refining reagent stock, and levels up my weapon mastery. …and lights something up in my brain each time I open a chest hehe.
Fact: most crafters get tipped 600 gold for crafting potential legendaries for a client.
What? When did I not get this memo as a 200 everything crafter? Where the fuck are you pulling your facts from?
Bit of advise to the community currently - launch your New World client, click the survey button on the bottom and fill it out.
We may not agree with how things are communicated but thank you to NW_Mugsy and CMs for trying to respond to the forums. Key thing is to direct our (community) frustration at the team and not at the individuals, please. They are just filling a role of trying to communicate and its a crap job to have to do. Ask anyone who has done service desk/tier 1 support for anything and they can tell you.
That said, NW_Mugsy does the New World team understand how the communication over the last 24 hours has frustrated players and made CM jobs that much harder?
-When the post about End Game initially came out, it should of had the disclaimer about “No HWM /GS reset”
-When the PTR goes live, there should be patch notes OR a very clear post of what has changed in the game world AND what AGS would like to be tested.
Those two bits of information could of prevented about half the threads yesterday; along with some frustration, panic, etc. The on-going problem here is that AGS does not communicate information in a clear way, the community finds out about changes themselves, and then there is an uneasy feeling left that New World Team is hiding things from the community. Its a cycle and while saying “We will do better” the fact is, from 1.1 to 1.2 the team has not done better. There is a mistrust currently and that will be hard to repair.
