1.2 Hidden changes

Damn Deviant ;3

No offense to you Mugsy, I know you’re not exactly in a team leadership position or above giving orders, but in the last PTR we brought up many issues including the fact that Jewelcrafting did not get the EXP boost the other tradeskills got and we got completely ignored and Jewelcrafting, in its bug stated, hit live servers. THEN, after outrage was brought because people used up their gems and realized they didn’t even get a single level despite using over 100 gems, you made a post days later saying “Yeah, Jewelcrafting was overlooked and didn’t get updated EXP values”.

Why bother with a PTR if we’re going to tell you GAME BREAKING issues with it and you guys push it to lives? In fact, why do you guys never address critical issues that fuck over the players but if something is remotely beneficial such as the elemental mobs you’ll hotfix it and disable them for days and them bring them back in such a nerfed state no one engages with the content anymore?

Hi dude. I dont play the game anymore for what I feel like are obvious reasons so ignore me if you want.

In an effort to start fresh the dev team should issue a one paragraph apology to the players. No additional “buts” or “explanations” about how good you did on some things and not others.

A simple. “Dear Players. We’re sorry. We know the game shipped as a disappointment and we should have done better. We promise to work hard, be TRANSPARENT starting now, and make New World a game you want to play”

That would go a long way for a lot of players especially if you actually started being transparent and didnt continue with the unannounced changes.

datamining shows you get +1 from casts at 585+, so 15x10 item slots is 150. if you got all 7 that would take 21 days. just to grind out the last 15 points.

they say they are reducing the cost. lets say they reduce it in half, 300g

thats 45,000g to close those last 15 points.

to get the gear that i crafted back to where it is right now.

what a fucking joke. if implemented i like many others am done

Cope is palpable. You’re actually delusional, ignoring all the mishandling and issues NW has: multiple gold/item dupes, invincibility/Tpose exploits, servers shitting themselves every other day, half of the game like abilities and perks not working like they’re supposed to, turning off entire mechanics like Trading Post or Invasions, easily abusable report system, and finally nerfing the game itself into the ground, for example via crafting.
But yeah, the drop is “reasonable” because “it’s not for everyone” xD

sounds like youre ok with a hard reset of every level 60 startring at 500 expertise.

you know hwm farming was exploited

if they dont reset everyone or scrap this stupid plan altogether anyone who didnt chase hwm is going to leave. theyd be stupid not to. ill be gone for sure

Its not a free game hello? We payed 40+ euro for it, its not our job to keep pumpin money in the game through ingame shop. Maybe release yearly dlcs like other games?

then they should set everyones expertise to 500. are you ok with that?

are you ok with them resetting everyones expertise to 500?

because if you are not you are a hypocrite

It doesn’t necessarily have to come in the form of gypsum. It can be to increase your odds of getting gypsum, or to decrease the timegate. One person pointed out that with the one per day potions to get one of the gypsums, there is literally no recourse if you don’t manage to get the drops within that timeframe. Another opportunity for a cash shop boost there.

Hah OP has had their forum account suspended. That’s not suspicious at all…

That’s what you get for revealing that AGS tried to sneak in a massive gold cost to this horrible expertise system. I am surprised that they haven’t shut down the forums yet tbh.

You mean, those patchnotes that do not include lots of “stealth changes”? Like you guys promise over and over again not to do anymore?

Keep on white knighting. It is obvious that AGS ignores nearly all feedback as these changes are overwhelmingly opposed by the community but they are going to go through with it anyway.

You’re right. I’m not a developer, nor am I backseating the development. But I’m not as blind nor dumb as AGS would like to think I am. I can say with absolute certainty that

0.10000000149011612 → 0.009999999776482582

Is a net negative for me. I don’t need to work for AGS, nor be a developer, to understand that 0.1 → 0.009 is a horrible change. That is, in fact, a 90% nerf.

That’s because we see the numbers rather than the pretty in-game scenery. It’s bullshit. Time gating the living fuck out of current content is bullshit.

So the only way to get an actual direct boost in expertise is through dungeon bosses? All other activities provide different gypsum types to craft to orbs to have a chance at an expertise boost? Man, I’m gonna stick to fishing and town boards.

With balancing though, the changes are across the entire spectrum of players. Everyone gets the same thing. With the perspective changes in 1.2, that’s not the case. Take your musket example. If both players have the same level in musket, say 15, both players are level 60, one player “zerged” to get their fancy new musket and one player fought, gathered, bought the components to craft his own musket. Let’s say it’s the exact same musket. With 1.2, the guy who crafted his now gets penalized for not grinding for it while you get to enjoy yours at no penalty.

Doesn’t sound fair to me.

If I were cynical, I’d say that the absurd 600 per gypsum was put in deliberately so that they could then “reduce it in response to feedback” - there have been lots of comments on these forums about feedback being ignored. Many have asked to be pointed to an example of when feedback was listened to. Look, here’s one… not that they did it on purpose, right?

I wouldn’t put it past them - However, I will not attribute to outright malice what I would incompetence. The same sort of system is in crafting. It requires millions of materials to hit 200, and to craft a “perfect bis” item, with every stat and perk you want on it, you require hundreds of billions of materials.

I don’t think this is a case where ags implemented an absurdly high cost to later reduce it. I think, like many other things in the game, nobody had ever once sat down and went “Well let’s do the math on this”, did 11 * 100 * 600 to find an unreasonable gold cost.

Not to say that I think AGS wouldn’t do something like that. But I just think it’s incompetence in this case.
