Here it is, a simple test with my buddy from today:
Let’s count the body lengths this underpowered weapon deserving of buffs can auto-track and lunge forward. Its lunge is so good that even the tree in the back got cut down.
The point is the leap forward should not exist and its one of the main reasons its unbalanced. You can effectively get out of many abilities by spamming attack and its just under half the length of the charge forward greataxe ability.
Also I can confirm the leap forward is the length of a roll. Anyone in this forum can confirm the same thing it takes a few minutes to test.
Your missing the point of the post. Its not the fact its easy to dodge a heavy attack its the fact it has massive lunge mechanics. The other weapons to do this is the spear however that is not a weapon that hits multiple opponents.
Greataxe lunge from heavy attack allows you to get out of roots, closes gaps, can hit hits multiple opponents with grit attacks. Finally the heavy attack is almost the distance of a dodge.
Spear also has a lunge from a heavy attack, hits only one opponent may have grit and finally the heavy attack is almost the same distance as a dodge.
Just by comparing the same function on two weapons what sticks out the most … yeh totalling balanced isnt it.
The greataxe physically moves your character forward in a massive leap and the spear does a little but not as much yet both hit an attack at the same range on a heavy attacks. So they just left click spam over and over to close the distance.
A heavy attack can be dodged but the fact remains if you spam light attacks you achieve the same distance as a heavy attack. So the heavy attack whilst you need to press and hold for longer has no downsides.
They should tone down that leap dramatically or any movement forward from attacks and make it fair since mobility is a big factor. When a leap from the greataxe is almost the same distance as a dodge, it has grit and it can hit multiple opponents, then there really is no debate that its not balanced.
Nobody can also deny the format its put in on the video from above. Sure it can be amended to show a dodge but we have all played enough to know the distance of a dodge (light and medium btw dont just think we are talking about light dodge as balance = for all scenarios).
Yeah basically a ranged user just has to escape blood lust’s 15m range. The only way for great axe (assuming their 2nd weapon doesn’t have mobility tools) to get within 15m is to use charge or to use random monsters/other enemies to trigger blood lust early.
Reap and gravity well can only be used once the enemy is already caught within blood lust range, because gravity well takes time to throw and reap is only 8m? range.
Yeah if the fight is starting at long range then great axe can’t do anything. But GAxe can definitely destroy ranged if they get the jump on them especially with a good gravity well.
One build I am considering is actually fire staff + great axe, because burnout is arguably the best gap-closer (for burst mobility). It goes much further than charge and only has a slightly longer start up animation (charge has ending animation, not start up).
