Do Shields still take massive stamina dmg because of the perk bonus?
This is the balancing patch… and 1 heavy attack shouldn’t do ~90 stamina damage to a Tower Shield imo.
I think a way to balance both the perk and the defense of the tower shield, would be to use the “stamina damage” before the fix as a base for the 150 str bonus. That is, whoever had 150 str, would deal the same “stamina damage” before the fix, and whoever didn’t, would deal 50% less stamina damage (as the passive description says).
This way, not only would we balance the passive of 150 str, but we would also balance the defense of the tower shield, making it tank more hits.
In fact, I would like the tower shield to be able to tank even more hits than the pre-fix situation or for the “guard” bar to be different from the stamina bar. But I think the first suggestion is already a good starting point.
They just need to buff the Sturdy Grip perk on the shield tree so that it negates the fix to the 150 Str perk.
really, buffing suturdy and the other “blocking” passives is the easiest way to balance it.
in my opinion it should buff to a higher resistance than just “denying” the 150 str passive. But of course, I’m not talking about just the sturdy one, but the set of all the perks and passives that give resistance to “stamina damage”
the most bizarre fact is that, after the fix of the passive of 150 str, the sturdy was very weak in pvp, because the resistance it gives is not converted into resistance to one more hit. That is, with or without sturdy, WH and GA need 2 heavy attacks or 1 heavy attack and two light attacks to break their defense. In short, sturdy was useless.

And yes, the other resistance perks need to also get some love. It sometimes feels like they forgot that the shield tree exists especially when you only see “Sword” adjustments on patch notes.

The 150 Strength Bug Fix is bunk from the start and needs to be reverted as it hurts everyone to include tanks. Any weapon that had 25% Block stability or lower was getting their stamina broken from Strength users heavy attacks (particularly WH and GA). Only some weapons like IG (30% Block Stab paired with Blocking Stamina) and WH (I Can Do This All Day) could successfully sustain a heavy from the 2H weapons while not in a Heavy Equip Load before the Heart of Madness Update. Now stamina is a mechanic exclusively used for dodging ![]()
Since we are unable to dodge when in Ice Showers and Gravity Wells, I do not see how we are expected to mitigate damage taken if stamina is a one way street intended to provide i-frames through dodging. Blocking was fine before HoM, yet now you just get your stamina broken by one GA heavy swing when you’re waiting out the root clock before using a movement ability. Shockwave ought to actually be looked at as to why you are forced to dodge out of the AoE completely or i-frame the damage instance since you cannot block that CC less you get stunned… and we all know that Shockwave is usually a follow up on rooted players…
