Interesting, thank you for citing this. I do see here that the minimum requirements are 8 GB.

Maybe that has since changed based on the feedback above?

I was watching as well both posts and I was wondering is this just simple mistake on one end.
I tough the orange post was correct, due my FPS dropping issue. I’m like “that may be one of the explanations”
16GB is about as standard as can be in 2021.
Any part of the game with lots of other players or even NPCs in it will lag because you can’t cache player actions and animations like you can terrain and buildings.
I played the closed beta with 8GB, the game kept having very brief freezes and even my system shortly froze up a few times. Bought an upgrade (to 32) and now I have no issues at all.
Yes, this game needs 16GB. It’s not ideal, but it’s become quite a standard these days.
My system is pretty old now and even I have 16gb of Memory, my system must be at least 5 years old as my Mainboard didn’t have TPM built in, I had to add a TPM V2 module for Windows 11 to work.
Game runs fine on my old nVidia 1080 at 4K on high.
I have an I5 4460
8 GB RAM
GTX 1070 6 GB
Works “fine” for me on medium settings. Should work for you as well if you have something similar or better
Edit: 60 FPS outside of town
30-40 FPS inside of towns
It might be a GPU/HDD/CPU bottleneck. Have 32Gb ram and the game runs like butter no lag or stutter.
Have a
R5 3600x
RTX 3090
Samsung 980 PRO SSD
NW has a memory leak (or never deallocate unused memory) You can play this game with 8 GB but be prepared to relog because you traversed to much through the NW world.
The game starts to be unplayalbe at some point, permanent FPS freezes due to loading in new content and swapping out (windows part) unused zones / memory.
I went 32 GB on this rig thinking it would help. It’s nice to have the option to bump to 128GB these day.s Wait until we need it!
A friend of mine is managing to play with 4gb of ram, and he is experiencing no lag except in big cities, and it’s still not too bad according to him.
My 64gb of ram tell me they feel bad for you.
I had 8gb and 1050 Ti and game ran smoothly on high settings so np if you got 8gb ram
Remember to get an 8 core CPU as well… preferably last/current gen.
My 3600 6c12t was struggling (sometimes) in this game with CPU usage going above 70% and hitting 100%, this causes lag spikes.
I had to get a 5800x for everything to run smoother… my target fps is 144 fps
As for ram usage its around 9-12GB on my side.
Uhm, because you say so? Way too much?
16 GB of RAM feels really like minimum nowadays. Majority of modern, open world games are using ~10 easly and it has nothing to do with optimization. They simply need it. We’re at the point where 32 GB of RAM is the new standard like 16 used to be. Just deal with the facts.
16 GB of RAM is not enough even for Red Dead Redemption 2 released for PC nearly 2 years ago.
Tried to find a thread on this and came across this page. I’m running the following specs and can hardly run this game on low settings. I’ve been playing ESO for years with no issue on this system. Looking for advice on what I can/should update to play or just buy something else.
Intel i5-7400
Windows 10 -64 bit
8 GB RAM
GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
Videocard seems fine.
I don’t know how much VRAM the game uses.
I would upgrade your RAM memory to 16GB. It’s not that expensive and it’s just a few minute’s work.
You should be able to run the game smooth then on medium or maybe even some settings or all on high. Just play around with it and test some things.
My PC uses between 13 and 15 gb of ram when playing New World sometimes.
I have all the settings on high.
The PC it self also uses and takes some RAM memory.
Would advice everyone 16GB unless maybe you play with all the settings on low, maybe 8GB is possible then but won’t recommend it.
Make sure that if you are going to buy new ram, use the same two…
Normally they sell 16gb in two sticks of 8gb.
Put 1 in A1 and 1 in B1 if you have 4 slots. So they run dual channel.
If you can find another better PC for cheap and sell the old one, you can also do that.
IF YOU WANT TO BE SURE:
You can put Task Manager on to your screen, that it is always on front…
Make sure you make it small so you only see the percentages and temperatures.
Put that in the corner of the screen while you play.
Look at the % your CPU, RAM, is uses while playing New World.
Then you can see what the problem is.
(Be aware: a lot of GPU’s / videocards run at 100% while gaming, this is normal! so dont blame the GPU hehe)
Also you could delete your RAM cache, make sure that programs that you are not using are not running on the background and disable programs that you not need to startup at startup.
(Task Manager > Prestations and Task Manager > Processes… If I translate it right).
Clean some RAM up, background procceses.
Make sure ‘V-sync’ is on in the settings in the game menu and/or cap the game to 60FPS in the game settings and cap your monitor in windows on 60FPS in windows settings. Maybe that makes a different also?
There is also an option on Windows 10 for gaming.
If you put it on ‘low’ or ‘medium’ (on default its medium) it uses less power but the prestations are less good.
Put it on high and your PC uses a little bit more energy but prestations are better
And make sure you updated your PC, your videocard driver, windows
I agree. It’s wonderful that the game looks so great, but the devs need to add a “I’m playing on a 5 year old laptop” option. Really every multiplayer game should have this, to be most accessible to the most people.
I find it… interesting… that AG put money into having servers in South America. Don’t get me wrong, of course people “deserve” to play the game wherever they are. But I’m the child of well off parents in the states, and I certainly couldn’t get a better graphics card than the one I have right now (1070). Having such a graphically demanding game really excludes a lot of people.
I probably sound racist as hell, don’t I
I had this card 2 weeks ago. I was running 1440p and I couldn’t handle the lower than 60fps in a lot of places. I bought a whole new rig.
not sure if people still reading this, I have minim requirements also, game has been pretty unplayable since launch, was able to get 50fps at most, running a 970 gpu, sometimes the game works perfect but not always, can sometimes maybe play for 5-10 mins and the game fps in very low pop areas will randomly drop the frames from 40-50 to about 6-20 max, not had much chance to figure out what’s causing it, no other issues in any other game or mmo, I went full performance and done all the suggested settings tips recommended for low systems even, rocking 120 fps at one point and same thing happened after a while, kinda frustrating with all the people saying its a u problem, left silent after trying to talk to amazon support, open to any other tips or suggestions people have or if anyone else has the same issue too ??
