is this becoming a problem due to the bots and fishing scripts people are using?

I have no idea if this is a bug or intended. It would be REALLY dumb or very very badly designed if it’s on purpose.
Still no support on this. Will bump daily until it’s getting a real reply because it fucks my intended gameplay a lot.
So just to add to this chain. 1star spot in restless shores is disappearing when i approach it. the 3 star that everyone always fishes near WW doesn’t work for me now either. it’s been a while since I’ve been able to fish that one. Anyone else have this issue?

Have you tried to fish in the spot even though it’s “just squirming water with no fish”? I think I read about something similar where it narrowed down to it being a visual bug and the hotspot actually being there. I think landing the pole in the spot should show “hotspot reached” (or whatever is usually shown when fish are in there).
I wrote in the original post that I tried this, so yes.

i tried this last night, and it doesent trigger “hotspot” message when you fish in the squirming water at fishermans bend (3 star hot spot)

Might be a server issue, because I have hit the same spot a couple times a day and it worked.
I am not sure this is a bug.
When you are IG hit K , open the Craftingskills tab and press on fishing.
The Fishing skill level determines how many and which Hotspots you can actually use. If your skill isn’t high enough you won’t be able to see the hotspot when you are up close. Even though the radar and map might show/highlight the spot.
Now 6 days ago you said your fishing is lvl. 20 is this still the case?
I’ve got 81 now and there have been several fishing spots I walked by that I couldn’t use before but they will appear on my map once I’ve hit the skill threshhold to unlock it.
I thought it was obvious I was referring to already unlocked spots. You can’t see if it’s a 2-3 star spot unless you unlocked it.
I have no idea what’s what here. I just hope they fix it soon. I like fishing a lot but I want the 2-3 star spots like everyone else.
Every 2-3 star spot unlocked since I originally made the post has remained inactive since I fished it out once.

Did you already try to verify your steam files by any chance? Looking for a client side bug/inconsistency here.
Would be a weird serverside bug.

It’s literally impossible to be client side, otherwise you would see cheatengine speedhackers roaming around?
Also as I said, it’s not a visual bug.
Curious how often do you check these hotspots? every day or every hour? I’ve been fishing for a while and have not seen this kind of bug
Every day. Once every 1-2h of playtime at first but now I just check it when I remember since I got used to it not working.
If you’re doing low level zones only, it’s very possible that they are just outfished before you check. I’ve noticed that lower level zones often times have a lot of people fishing (including bots), so the hotspots are highly contested.
I’ve fished to lvl 160 in restless shore with no problem, since no one fishes there.
I have the same problem. After using a LVL3 hotspot for the first time it never appeared again. It shows the smoke but no fishes jumping anymore and it is not only visual. This is so annoying.
Nobody has any idea? I’m also sure that the hotspot is not “overfished”. I’m beeing since 5am near the lvl3 hotspot (for 2 hours) without fishing and no other player there, but it does not spawn again. The hotspot seems to be dead for me.
