20 Points - QOL and Improvements (plus a bonus!)

Things I would like to see in the game.

Some of these are QOL. Some of these are potential solutions to decently to heavily populated servers with lots of bots. They are in no particular order of importance, just in order of what pops into my mind.

  1. Scrolling combat text. PLEASE, let us control on the screen where it is it. I get it. I seriously do, you do not want a /log so that we can determine things as well as all the issues that creates. However, it is still nice to know what is going on. Please let me put all the damage in one area and all the healing in another. I want to control my UI.

  2. Let me lower other players particle effects. Honestly, if I wanted to see a rave, I’d go to a rave. This could be done by other players in party as well as other players. It could be something as simple as an option for full effects, toned down (aka lighter colors) for healing/buff, to none. This, imo, would ALSO help a LOT with the lag fest. It would also be nice to have this be controlled for pvp/pve flagged. For example, if I am in a group unflagged (purple) and we are following flagged (green) that their sacred grounds are OFF for us.

  3. You already went down this path, now expand it. What path? The path of using other materials to make higher level ones. On my server, there is a person, and we can argue if he is a ā€˜bot’ by definition or not, but this person is logged in all the time camping Orichalcum nodes. I know it is NOT a bot because if I am standing where the node will spawn, the player does not come after the node. This problem is creating frustration. Frustration is when people stop playing. Why not come up with a formula that lets me convert Iron Ore to Starmetal Ore and then Starmetal Ore to Orichalcum Ore? A 100 to 1 seems too high, but a 20:1 may not be that unfair.

  4. I fully suspect this has already been thought it, but please implement it shortly. I would like to buy something, not in the cash store, but in the faction store that will let me re-roll one of the perks on an item. Right now you put in timeless shards that lets me control the attributes on a craft. I can control one of the perks. Now, the other may be total crap. If I hit a legendary, well, I may be stuck with the correct attributes and one good perk and then two crappy perks. So instead of a material converter, we have a perk converter. Yes, let it be RNG. Obviously, it can not RNG to itself :slight_smile: Seeing that AGS likes to put things behind gates, let me do four rolls per day on the item. Personally, I’d have no problem with this being 15k Faction tokens and 1k gold.

  5. Mob diminishing return on staggers. If I have been staggered 2 times in 2 seconds, let me be immune for staggers for 3 seconds.

  6. Insanely long bleeds. Why are the bleeds from some mobs 30 seconds long?

  7. Let me have 7 and 8 on my keyboard. I would like to have Food/HP/Regen/Tincture/Stone/Coating all on the bar. While we are here, please . . . let coatings be like stones. It is tied to the character not the weapon!

  8. Let me control my ā€˜bags.’ I know you have no bag slots, but how about letting me create 3 or 4 different ā€˜folders.’ In these ā€˜folders’ I can put in what I want. Let me label them as well! As an example, if I have PVP gear, I can put all my PVP gear in that ā€˜folder’ in my bag. It makes it a LOT easier to find the damn gear when I want to change.

  9. Gearsets. Yeah. This is ties into the previous point. Let me have ctrl 1-> 0 as sets. This way I can setup my gear and bars and assign it to a ctrl set. I can then change quickly. Of course, you should not be able to change gearsets while in combat.

  10. This is a pipe dream wish. Explain, clearly, not ambiguously, the luck system.

  11. This is MY huge pet peeve. Some people read words a LOT faster than they do to translate what an icon represents. I’d really like to see something on MY UI, where the icons are, that states what they are! Of course, if there is a timer for it, let there be a timer as well next to it. And, of course, let me control where that is at on my screen.

  12. While we are there, talking about UI and such. The camera angles are messed up. Yes, I think you did this on purpose and it is an immature thing to do. What am I talking about? Let’s use the two bosses in Genesis. If you play melee, you can NOT see the debuffs on the mob. YES, the bar that is above the head of the mob, the one that you can see the HP as a percentage. The debuffs are NOT visible because of the camera angle. Either fix that as an issue or let me, again, control MY UI and put that information somewhere on MY screen that I can see. Yes, the camera vertical field is set to the highest (70) iirc.

  13. Your GCD is wonky. Yes, it is like you have put in a GCD to stop people from spamming on their keyboard. People, are rightfully so, complaining about weapon swapping. Why do I have to wait for such a long time after I push the button, or slam the key a dozen times, for it to actually occur? It is as if you have a GCD system that ties into mouse click and then the keyboard. Please, remove that GCD. Now, going back to the staggers . . . why can’t I do something (aka hit my health potion) while staggered by a mob? I understand PVP, that makes some sense. PVE wise it doesn’t. If I am running into one of the forts in SM and suddenly 6 archers attack me, chaining the stagger/push backs to where I can’t even pop a health pot . . . bad design.

  14. Durability in bags on death is too punitive. If you are giving me the ability to carry 1300 pounds of stuff, making gear break on death is just too punitive. Sure, I get it. I can NOT carry a ton of stuff. But work with me here, because this is the reality of what happened today. At the 2nd to last portal at Myrk. We had done mines first, then myrk. A group of about 25 of us. What happens? A few from the opposing faction decides to train mobs onto us. Lets see . . . a bear, the named mage, the commander from a little further up where constantly being trained on us. Portals are already somewhat rough and you may die once in them. Now, people will rez you. Then after you get rezzed, some person decides it would be fun to train mobs and wipe you again. So now that I have 500lbs of gear that I have picked up from Mines/Myrk, it is all about 1/2 broke. Hmm. Now you can either solve the problem of mob griefing or leashing or aggro or the broken gear in the bag. Choose something please.

  15. Quest items should have zero weight.

  16. Please, when I scroll over a recipe/schematic, show in the rollover if I have learned it or not!

  17. Please, let me look at what I know in crafting without having to be at the crafting table. The K button lets me see things about my character, add another that lets me see what I know. Heck, you could even use it on the tradeskills screen with the tradeskill. YES, I know I can see it already there. PLEASE make it look like the same as the crafting station. I am often asked, ā€œHey, what are the mats to make . . .ā€

  18. Optimize your engine. I know this sounds like I am whining and this is a first world problem. I play at 4k. This is the ONLY game that OBS has problems with. This is the ONLY game that I would have to go to a 2nd pc for OBS and not for streaming but for RECORDING! I get a LOT of dropped frames. PLEASE stop frigging changing my graphics settings after every patch! After every patch, I need to check and yup, you have changed my resolution from 3840 x 2160 to something lower. This is the only game that I have seen that keeps my GPU at 90+ percent.

  19. Fix the doll. Well, ok, expand upon it. Right now you have my attributes and if I move my mouse over it, I get a little more info. Why not show my % luck, my % mob type damage reduction, etc.?

  20. Let me stand at the Trading Post, open MY inventory and click on an item then hit ā€œPlace Sell Order.ā€ I know this is counter to the reading text versus the seeing of icons, but considering that at the TP you show my inventory as well as my shed, this could be a solution to let me sell what I got that I want to sell easily.

  21. This is just an observation and there are probably a ton of solutions. There is a gold imbalance. Yes, the infamous companies that own a town getting millions of gold per week. What I have observed is that this imbalance has created something that was potentially not expected: Toxicity. It has created a system where those that own the towns are becoming . . . well . . . toxic towards others. It creates a system of elitism. If AGS has determined that they want companies to win about 80% of the time, well, that bolsters the elitism and expands the toxicity. As I mentioned, there are probably a ton of solutions ranging from removing the ownership of a town to some tweaks. Here is one solution to level the playing field: The faction that owns the town, AFTER the upkeep is paid, gets the difference. Before people go off on this, if you have a server that is 1/3rd split on the factions and your faction owns 4 towns that brings in 5 million per week AFTER upkeep and there are 1500 on your server. Every one in your faction just got 10k. Now, before you start screaming that is !@#%, there are 8 towns on the map. The other factions will be bringing in gold as well and that will be split! Therefore it is NOT 1 faction that is getting 10k and the others zero, it is one faction getting 10k, another getting 11k and then another 8k. That is just one possible solution.

Good ideas! Especially being able to use keys 7 and 8, gear sets and no damage to gear in inventory.

Weapon coatings… ah… weapon coatings. Tried them a few times, gave up on them. Something needs to change there but I’m not sure it needs to be linked to the character. It makes sense that a weapon coating sticks to a weapon but… and this is the problem now, the coating should expire ONLY with time, and not when weapons are swapped.

Losing the coating and having to reapply it every time you swap weapons is absurd.

Yeah, I guess I should have written it as, ā€œLet coatings be like honing stones.ā€ That would make it easier.

Ironically, after I posted this, AGS posted something about durability of items in bags. If the item is NOT bound it takes no damage. That, imo, is a fair compromise.

I didn’t know that… but I’m still not sure that’s fair enough. I carry all the weapon types, and alternate between them to raise them all up. They’re all bound… I’m not sure under what circumstances they wouldn’t be bound, once they’re of a quality higher than common.

Anyway, I keep my fingers crossed they remove this. I mean, within the logic of this world all that gear is in a pocket dimension anyway. It’s not literally being carried out in the open, so it seems silly for it to get damaged. But it is what it is.

add being able to dye skins pls

  1. Please remove iron cartridges and arrows from higher level chests. Those make good sense if you are in the level 30 and under zones. They are TOO prevalent in the higher zones.

  2. Put in the loot table Times Loot Shards for tools and bags. I’d like to control all three of the perks :slight_smile: But realistically, controlling two out of the three would be nice.

  3. Rework the transfer from shed to shed costs. It seems to be tied to the same logic that is used for Azoth travel (((distance + weight)* multiplier) + base fee)) It should be a fee for the item. I.E. If I grab 500 ore from one shed and drag it, it should be the same if I drag one piece or 500 pieces. IMO, it should be 10g to move things around.

  4. Add perks to storage chests. This could be something interesting to do. Add Extra Pockets as a perk to a chest. Add tanner’s burden to a chest. Give us one or two ā€˜perks’ per storage chest. AND . . . seeing that you have chests that have been made already, come up with a mechanism that furnishers can ā€˜guarantee’ one of the perks and the other be RNGd with some ā€˜drop’ in the world, sort of like Timeless Shards :slight_smile:

  5. YES, please let me run and see what is in my inventory.

  6. This is dangerous, but . . . a /follow command would be nice.

  7. User defined party markers.

  8. Rework the contribution system for when there is a zerg group doing content. The current system seems to reward BIG dps and punishes support roles. I do not think you need to implement a HIT the mob get the item, but something closer to that than what you have now.

  1. In the loot window, have it scroll. If there are 10 items when we loot, it shows the first 5 and then fades out. How about having it scroll the 10 items and then fade.

  2. Show the roll. This would help alleviate some of the luck issues. But in the loot window, show the number that we got on the roll.

  1. The shed needs some work. How about letting me sort by ā€˜Bound to player.’ How about letting me do a ā€˜search’ and it shows all the locations.

Show me the numbers! I like numbers, I like rpg’s. I like rpg’s (or mmorpg) that show me the numbers!

  1. While staying on the topic of the shed. Why is there a limit of 500 unique items? I understand the concept of arrays and how you probably load in the shed. I understand that it potentially creates an issue with your UI and the drag and drop and resorting of the array after. For lack of a better phrase, ā€œDon’t care.ā€ It should not be a 500 unique item limit. Ultimately it should be unbounded by item count, bound by weight. However, if you need a limit, make it 1000 unique items. If you think this is an issue, then by design, you have created too many unique items. The fault lies with that instead of the limitation of the shed item count.

  2. Give me / commands in chat. In an earlier point, the ability to hit shift tab to go back in the category list would be nice how about a /1 , /2, etc. for the category. Or . . . even better yet, a /a for area, /f for faction, etc.

you have some good suggestions in the listings there.

#1 - I can see a reasonable reason for this. I’d go further and ask to be allowed to move things around like SWTOR. Where there are no mods but you can have a completley different feeling UI depending on preference.

#2 - I agree with settings to lower the density but not the ability to turn them off. So much of this game’s combat is telegraphed through the particle effects. Such as you mention sacred ground. You need to see this to know your enemy is being healed dont fight in their sacred ground but to know that they need to be different colors. It would be nice to have this be a preference we set but I’d just accept some standardization.

#3 - The largest issues with Orichalcum are that it’s resource cycle is different from the other Tier 5 materials. They all have a common 50-10-10 daily cooldown. But many professions have multiple avenues to level. For example Armorsmith can go the fiber vs metal route. Arcana can go the magic weapons vs the consumable route. But weaponsmith its all metal and both armorsmith and weaponsmith are heavily metal based. There aren’t an equitable number of orichalcum nodes in the world to the others when you factor in usage. Then there also is the matter of the missing accumulation set for smelting. A full accumulation set on weaving and/or tanning is very significant in producing enough end product T5 materials to level crafting. Lastly, Armorsmithing has the guaranteed 600 BOE luck armor that’s rediculously popular and uses 520 orichalcum ingots per set. Add in that orichalcum is the only T5 resources with anything resembling Void Ore and you have a recipe for the situation we are in. In my opinion introducing the smelting set needs to be a priority 1 issue. After that determine how that effects the amount of ingots in the economy and from there consider increasing spawn locations for the ores themselves.

#4 - I would love to see this implemented. I would be okay with balancing it so that rerolled perks were weaker and weaker. By this I mean each time you reroll a specific perk whatever you get the effectivness is 100 GS lower than the previous. So I might start with a 600 GS luck perk…reroll that get a 500 GS harvesting perk… reroll that and get a 400 GS ability perk and keep that. So the weapon would still be 600 but i’d have 2 original perks at full effect and the third i rerolled at lower qualilty. Bonus points if the converters have an affinity perks that make sense with the attributes of the item.

#5 - this but universally for any crowd control style effect. 1-2 effects every 5 seconds is more than reasonable. You get hit by spammed stagger it shouldn’t continue to stagger you.

#6 - this is fine how it is. I don’t have bleeds and haven’t noticed this to be an issue. Some status effects are just longer you have to be aware of and have ways to address them.

#7 - yes to extra slots - disagree on changing how coatings work. Their cheap to make and being able to have a different coating on the two weapons you have equipped is extremely nice unless they want to allow us to stack them and use multiple coatings at once.

#8 - bag organization is needed badly. Let us ā€œtagā€ items so that they can be grouped and easily recognized (colored corners based on tags).

#9 - totally for gear sets. Not only should you not be able to do the swap in combat - you shouldn’t be able to use it at all if you are pvp flagged. No quick insta swapping from harvesting gear to combat gear because you saw someone coming and wasn’t put in combat.

#10 - generally speaking the luck system has been explained pretty well but I think the issue is that in some cases the system is still bugged or not workign as intended and that causes some headache. Just look at how the rarer materials were super rare pre 1.2 versus after their ā€œluck fixā€.

#11 - agreed.

#12 - I would suggest that there be an enemy nameplate that shows in a fixed position on the screen which clearly shows buffs debuffs and health and it can just show the nameplate for the current enemy at your cursor. This should solve 90% of the issues.

#13 - Weapon swap should force a dump of all abilities and actions in whatever combat que they use and immediatley swap weapons. Except when a combat animation is already in progress and in that case the swap should occur fluidly as soon as the animation ends.

#14 - removing durability in 1.3 from non bound items is big but I’d like to see durability on bound items in your bags reduced by half of whatever it is now. As a tank who optimizes weapons and armor I carry three to four sets of gear and its extremely expensive to die because of that.

#15 - I disagree. Quest items are items. Need to plan and prioritize inventory capacity. If you want to run around with 50 quests with items there should be some cost o doing so.

#16 - yes please.

#17 - This already exists you can see your recipes in your tradeskill screen. It’s just not easy to search and sort the recipes.

#18 - shrugg I have a low end system and it runs fine for me.

#19 - Agree.

#20 - I like this idea and its original. Fits in with the UI theme of click context menus.

#21 - In my perfect world the territory owners would no earn any cash reward for controlling a territory but instead would earn company-wide benefits that make ownership highly coveted none the less. Examples might include: free fast travel to company owned territories, % accumulation bonus when refining reagents in owned territories, extra sales slots in owned territories, 50% reduction in all taxes within owned territory, etc. Then I’d introduce a plethora of various benefits that the territory can implement similar to twon buffs now. Except I wouldn’t make these part of the town board system. They would simply be straight cash purchases from the tax income. They might mimic muted options simliar to the guild perks for controlling the territory but a broader range of buffs. THen any money not spent each cycle gets divided between all the residents of the town itself.

#22 - introduce recipes to upgrade cartridges and arrows from lower tiers to higher teirs making the dropped stuff a reagents for higher level crafts.

#23 - this would be handled by the OP idea to reroll perks.

#24 - get rid of storage transfer fees all together and if possible get rid of not being able to do this outside your own faction territories.

#26 - Yes

#27 - bots are getting by without it. Be nice to let the common folk auto follow someone while they go bio or whatever.

#29 - Leave it how it is but make it harsher. Dicourage zergs and encourage small group play as was intended.

Why is the legendary AXE eternal dusk crafting pattern 9str 19DEX??!! What the heck, noone is going to use that garbage.

I think the direction they went with timeless shards was the right one. Allowing more control over the outcome. I think it would make sense to have named crafting recipes for items that work similarly to shards where you get to pick 1 attribute and 1 perk and then have the recipe have 1 static perk that it applies that is unique to the specific weapon recipe and have those recipes have unique models rather than share the orichalcum versions of weapons. Get the best of all worlds.

I like 300 str for grit.
I like 50 dex for the + to crit.

  1. PLEASE figure out what browser function is causing major issues. This harkens to the older days when a flash app running in a browser would destroy the responsiveness of a game. I have noticed that if I have Chrome running, perhaps having YouTube running at the same time, I get game disconnects where I travel across the screen. It does seem to be some addon that I have for Chrome because if I do the same with Opera it is not an issue.

  2. PLEASE let umbral shards upgrade 590 crafted to legendary. Yes, I realize that this will impact crafting. It will make rolling a 600 on a craft seem less valuable. It will, however, reduce a TON of frustration.

  1. PLEASE do not automatically use repair kits for repair all if they are in my bag. FIX the UI to give me a choice between gold + parts and gold + parts + repair kits.
