Maybe AGS might consider hiring ban reviewers out of the gaming pool. We tend to understand player behaviors. We also tend to know what red flags to look for as a player re: suspicious behavior.
I was a GM for a game a long time ago. It was a partially volunteer basis, we were rewarded in free game time and in-game cosmetic perks.
What about pulling in some of this community (vetted and trained of course) to volunteer as either ban reviewers or in-game psuedo-passive GMs who can actively examine in-game behavior as it happens; flags from these folk would be taken more seriously.
I’d volunteer a couple of hours a week in exchange for shop currency for cosmetics.
Nothing wrong with the word weasel, probably the most harmless thing you could say on the internet tbh, but based on that, i feel like there’s more to the story imho
Cant do this. There was a game that did this years ago that ended up suing and winning the game company because they wanted to be labeled as employees. I’m trying to go back and find the articles, but it was big news at the time. For legal reasons, game companies just dont do player based GMs and such now.
I was not aware of that. Thanks for bringing this up.
I still think they could consider asking their player community to see if anyone is interested in helping them out (maybe as valid but very part time employees?) with this. Clearly the people they are hiring are having some struggles. And I get it; if you don’t game, how are you supposed to recognize behaviors?
It was a big issue back then. One of the GMs demanded to be labeled as an employee and paid, having health insurance and all, and then others joined in. Courts ruled in the players favor and the companies had to back pay, and that was pretty much it with player GMs in all games.
Wrong.
You say foul, inappropriate or mentally disturbing things; you deserve a ban. You don’t get to do whatever you want because you don’t want to face the punishment for your actions.
The funny thing is that assholes scream ‘People are snowflakes for reporting me!’ while screaming for a safe space to be raging assholes.
Assholes need to be adults & accept the consequences of their actions. You don’t get to say/do whatever you want and dodge the punishments. That’s not how life works, snowflake.
People keep forgetting that freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom of actions. One is free to say whatever they want, but they are not free of the actions that come with it.
Wrong, snowflake.
I live in the US, and a business or owner of private property (and a video game server counts as private property) can kick you off if you’re being what they consider offensive, snowflake.
Your ‘rights’ protect you from THE GOVERNMENT. They do not give you carte blanche to be a twat.
But jerkhole snowflakes always scream ‘My rights’ when they get punished.
Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences.
