Imho chat abuse should ban you only from chat (unless you are gold seller, which is more than a chat abuse anyway).
Anyway, I think that the game is design about competition for nodes and devs could have prevented this sort of thing in so many ways. Being first to the node is not enough, being first to do the last swing with harvesting tool is what counts. I prefer to put ice pylon next to important nodes so the mobs attack it instead of me:) Or if someone takes “your” node by kiting wolf at you, kite it back to them;) So many options. No need to get upset about it and break TOS in chat.
They should extend your ban to 7 days since you regret nothing
they really need to stop dishing out these random bans. nothing you say in chat should ever warrant a ban. no matter how foul, inappropriate or mentally disturbing it is. thats what block/mute was made for. the only reasons that are worth a ban are cheats/massive use of exploits(not just once when you accidently stumble upon it without knowing it before) and gold sellers.
if you go to your neighbour irl and call him something bad or make a bad joke the police isnt gonna come and throw you in jail either. same standards should be applied here.

verbal abuse can easily be mitigated to a point it has 0 effect on you by simply pressing a button. its therefor not an issue at all.
cheating/exploiting effects the entire server and even the game as a whole when it gets out to the public. it actively hurts the game and the company maintaining it cos fewer ppl will consider trying it when its well known that these things run rampant. there is no other way to mitigate the dmg beeing done other than to keep banning those ppl.

I do think this game is overkill on moderation based on various posts i’ve seen. It’s like they rated this game PG and are putting bandaids on all the kids who get butt hurt by some heated in game discussions. In all fairness this was supposed to be a PVP game and you’d expect people to have light hearted arguments in all of the chaos. I think it needs to be toned down a little.
Anything personalised / specifically targeted as personal hate should not be tolerated, like:
- Targeted hate toward certain ethnic groups (i.e racism)
- Targeted hate towards disabilities / physical attributes (including gender).
- Targeted hate towards sexual orientation (i.e homophobia).
All other things should be reviewed and given leniency depending on the context. Otherwise we end up having some weird community in game where nobody uses chat because they worry about account bans.
Every person is different and AGS can’t please everyone, but you could literally report anyone for anything, and I’m not using this example to offend anyone but this legit could happen:
- Player 1 says ‘I hate turkey’s i’m going to kill them all’.
- Player 2 in Company ‘SaveTheFarms’ is a vegan and identifies as a Turkey. Player 2 is offended by their comment and their entire company reports Player 1.
- Player 1 is banned for unknown reason.
Even posing a ‘chat ban’ option as an alternative for these offences in my eyes would be more appealing.

As an Italian, I’ve never heard this word used as a racial slur to someone of Italian decent…
honestly i wouldnt even ban for the things you listed. ppl in this modern age are way too soft. they need to be reminded what the good old days were like. this whole SJW nonsense has to stop. besides who cares what some random person on the internet says to you in a video game. how insecure are the ppl who get offended by that. guess this is what modern society and pve games does to ppl.

I have players that follow me for hours and either try to rush ahead of me to gather before me or pull monsters when i am gathering just because “i am messing with their gathering route”.
I have called them names and i could not care less if they could ban be after reporting me since this is the least that i can do against them.
If i am going to get banned when being harassed ( i do take video evidence ) then i am just going to uninstall the game.

Most people passively reading a headline like that would just shake their head and say “yep, online games are still toxic”
A player dragging mobs through your iron ore vein and then you calling him a big dummy is not newsworthy. No journalist is going to write about something so insignificant and childish.
