I used to think these are not a priority 1 but making some changes to the map as well as the scoring system could rectify a lot current OPR issues such as lack of melees/tanks as well as overall flow of the game.
Plus more rewards
First off… the scoring system. It favors stat padding on players and AI whilst neglecting point capture and (if I am not mistaken) excluding tanks entirely - this is not ok. Damage taken and mitigated should mos def be included in the scoring system. Same goes for point capturing, playing for objectives should be just as or perhaps even more rewarding than stat padding. That could encourage an actual spread of teams and proper strategizing your OPR games, focusing on objectives and proper rotations rather than zerging back n forth like total dongos. Partially its already here with all the buffs PvE and resources managenent has received in the last months. Lets bring it home.
Secondly - the map. It favors range, period. Outside of forts and woods there’s a lot of open areas, particularly between Moon and Sol where people are just up for grabs, especially against coordinated, premade musket comps.
So I think there should be more covers laying around in that area. Nothing too crazy of course, maybe like a stone or two and few trees could make a difference without breaking the general flow of the game imo. Its just easier to push for Star than it is for Moon.
And of course we need more Umbral Shards for OPR participation. At least make it 100 to 500 pieces, amount based of performance just like the PvP exp is. Pretty straight forward.
TL;DR scoring system is cheeks and should favor objectives and tanking more than it does now + we need to change the map, add a bit more covers + make OPR more rewarding.
Muskets are a problem but they are more annoying than game changing imo. I feel they actually work against your team as they offer little to point captures. But more coverage is definitely needed.
My biggest problem with opr is how one sided 90% of games are. You can generally tell who is going to win after the first battle at mid. They need to figure out a way to balance teams with regards to premade groups as well as weapon comp. Cause right now opr is a joke. I played around 15 oprs yesterday and all but 1 were complete blowouts. The game mode is fantastic when there are even teams. It’s just too bad that rarely happens.
It’s a freaking 20vs20 moba gamemode without ruleset where most of the players just want to fight and don’t give a crap about score. It will never work as the developers intended. Scrap it, try again. Would be a waste of dev resources even trying to patch that thing together.
Nice. What server is that? I’d consider transferring just to get even games since opr is pretty much the only thing I do anymore and is insufferable on cos.
This usually shakes in favor of one or the other team after like 15 minute mark when they get the resources for cp’s but either way games feel much more even than months ago.
Solo queue X team queue, same as in aenas
If you wanna make a 5 man organized group, great, good for you and your team. But you should be fighting organized groups as well, not only more fun but more competitive, good for improving
