+30% Gathering Luck - There is no risk if people dont drop loot

Well many changes would have to come to make this work properly. Not long ago because in cbt in july players were droping stuff when killed in pvp.

If they brought in dropping loot when killed then people would just form teams and hunt for any solo flagged gatherers to grief them.

Yeah so people would form together to farm something. Wouldnt that be cool, sounds like elements of a MMO … playing together in groups `?

and u not max level need this 30% luck because of what ? u need rare mats form orichalcum ? Or Iron Wood ? Or what ? are u srs ? We at Level 60 need this and most of the rare ressources are in high level areas we will mostly not meet in ur level area … and the maxed out mining gear is still a light armor or a bunch of random parts of armor with just strength there is no mega perk on it that we can oneshot “low levels”

i call bullshit or u mean the random stuff what is not a part of the killed person inventory ?

We get it - you and your friends have a nice core group of well geared PvP meta specced Chads that you would like to roam around with on your faction dominated server and crush the hopes and dreams of anyone attempting to enjoy themselves. You don’t just want to win the battle, you want to be able to feel and hear the despair of anyone who would challenge you.

What? you don’t have a core group of 10 friends that can no life this game with you? LOL GG EZ get good scrub.

Rust is on Steam - you’d love it. Give it a try.

Thanks for the questions:

  1. I have been level 60 for quite a while.

  2. I need the rare mats.

  3. don’t assume someone posting is low level. I do have several other toons and some of them are lower level.

  4. lvl60 gankers will run around low level areas in packs hunting anyone flagged - that’s just a fact.

  5. i agree, the maxed out mining gear is pretty pants and against anyone who’s come for pvp is pretty useless.

  6. I can pretty much one or two shot (maybe 3-4 shots if they are heavy armor) anyone not level 60 on my mining set even with the bad stats etc because scaling for pvp doesn’t work.

  7. 30% is HUGE. Even the 10% luck bonus pushes you so much higher into the drop table it will be snowing rare mats for maxed out sets and foods. So it will create a real issue going forward.

No, people will band together to hunt one or two’s running around flagged up farming to grief them. People won’t band together to go farm something out in the world. In practical terms it doesn’t really work - who gets to farm the node, how do you distribute the drops, you can’t even tell if someone gets a rare drop, etc…

we all should

best 8,000 hours I’ve ever spent playing a video game was Rust.

How about you mine around 200k iron ore or 1mil worth of green wood while PvP flagged solo on a weak faction and get ganked 1000 times and not level or gather any resource at all.

Some people want to chill and farm without having to be forced to do open world pvp with your bored kind. If you want pure PvP - go play COD:W with aim assist?

It works in other games too, people can just share all together the gathered loot.
Also not everyone has to farm veins if we stay with mining, people can also farm mobs at the same time or do other stuff.

For the other points there could be a safety for chars which are not lvl 60´s so they are not affected by this. And also it would be okay if players wouldnt drop all of the stuff they gathered but just a part.

Giving 30% gathering luck is huge and I think it has to come with a risk too which is more than the fighting for a node and the one who dies has to come back to the gathering spot.

no one force you to enable pvp ? But if you do and you get a huge gathering bonus it should also come with a real risk.

Why give any gathering bonus at all, work on creating a area on the map for 24/7 pvp that’s optional along with keeping outposts.

Going to copy-paste something.

This is huge a problem. Not for the PvP or PvE or “incentivise” arguments. It’s a problem because it gives a huge advantage to players on low pop servers where open world pvp is already scarce or barely exists, especially at certain hours – as opposed to people on more populated servers where there is that “higher risk higher reward” dynamic.

AGS just gave HUGE boosts to farmers on certain servers with 0 risk.

All conditions aren’t equal in this game, and this buff should be reduced significantly.

Loads of flaws in this.
What’s stopping people making alts on dead servers then reaping the 30 plus percent reward for no risk and this is half of the argument some say risk v reward crap this has no risk and all reward.

Mass reporting, instance I flag for pvp to mine/gather at a good area with nodes I die to a lower level and I get the company to mass report.

Yeah I agree to this, they not just buffed empty server mining (which maybe will get reduced with the server merges). But also think about the servers where one faction is more powerfull than the others. There is a higher chance you dont see enemy faction while you are out gathering.
So it makes the more powerfull faction even stronger.

Instance let’s say yellow have 1000 players and green and purple have say 200 players who do you think will dominate the map for resources and market.
All you idiots saying this is great pvp content are scared to bring the real idea to the devs about having a section of the map 24/7 pvp it’s like you wanna hide behind the guise of saying this is great pvp killing weaker players.

And I pvp I find gathering boring as shit and I can see this idea is bolloxs and a shit show of peacocks strutting

Don’t get me wrong - I love Rust - I have over 1500 hours myself. But, unless you’re going to wipe these servers once a month to re-level the playing field, that sort of model doesn’t work.

how does that differ from them right now hunting solo players/smaller gropus?!

we arent talking about forced flagging here? get a grip man…
