37% of the playerbase lost in the past 30 days. Let's re-evaluate the priorities and come back in january with a new roadmap?

What is in having fun progression in Lost Ark by doing daily 2 chaos dungeons where everything die after you pressed 1 button ? Ok Guardian Raids can be but its same boss over n over. Raids time gated once per week. No I have never been killing same mobs for hour to get 1 drop in my 15 years MMO experiance waste of time. Here esp. I will just buy for money I eanred in a way I wanted.

This is it EXACTLY, it’s a cultural shift with the newer younger generation of gamer’s (born in the 00’s if not 10’s). They come from other games that give instant gratification and New World does not give instant gratification to them, so they get bored quick. Valorant, Apex, Fortnite, Roblox, LoL, GTAV, CoD and the likes all allow you to play for 1-2hrs, feel like you’ve accomplished what you wanted or give you the feeling of it anywho and that’s what people are used to.

I’ve been playing MMO’s with the same group of people for the last 15 almost 20 years now. We started back with Lineage 2, then moved to Aion, Tera, Archeage, Black Desert, Archeage Unchained and now New World. The grind in those previous MMO’s was fun, rewarding and there wasn’t a lot of ways to “buy” your way to the top outside of Archeage which was a VERY obvious P2W game.

I never played WoW or any of the Final Fantasy MMO’s, but I hear the dungeons in Final Fantasy are some of the best there are. WoW has grinds for mounts that people WANT and NEED to get because it’s what they love, it’s also been a staple for as long as it is because it’s been doing something right. I absolutely LOVED the dynamic combat in Tera, probably one of my favorite PvE games due to how well the AI was done and the fighting mechanics within the game. Lineage 2 was an unbearable grind if you played retail, but the feeling of accomplishment was there once you finally got all the recipe’s for an armor set and could have someone craft it for you to get that BiS gear for your level which. They ruined that with the big revamp 10 years ago though so now it is easy mode and you hit end game content almost instantly compared to the months or years you had to play to hit it previously.

New World has a grind, but it isn’t nearly as bad as other games have been, but not nearly as easy as some games are now. The issue too is the attention span of people has gone WAY down over the generations and it shows. Your video longer than 2 minutes? Lots of people won’t make it to the end before moving on or skipping through. You have to farm these mobs for 2-3 hours to get some rare gear to drop, hardly worth their time in their eyes. An MMO now-a-days isn’t what an MMO was years and years ago sadly. An MMO also has never been PvP focused, it’s been PvE focused and PvP has been a side-effect of everyone needing to get it done. World raid bosses causes open world PvP if these rid bosses drop REALLY rare BiS items. 1 person out of 50-100 gets the items and it brings the urge to come back and try to get it again, but you can only do it once a twice a day.

PvP focus MMO’s lack a LOT of PvE content, but strictly focus on the player engagement and balance. It seems with new world, the amount of DPS you need to shred through mobs with hundreds of thousands of HP in a group of 5, put it out of balance in a PvP environment and the cause of it is healers that are too strong, or burst damage that is too strong which causes battles to either last forever, or end almost instantly depending on the balance of DPS to healer ratio and who can burst down the other team first or catch healers off guard.

New World is also the first MMO I’ve played that have snuck in a hitscan weapon in with 12 projectile weapons and made it one of the hardest hitting weapons in the game. Then introduced ANOTHER short range hitscan weapon knowing many PvPers didn’t like the way hitscan was in the game to begin with. It’s like they didn’t care at all about their thoughts on the subject and are on doing their own agenda despite the health that it creates in the PvP systems. And I’m not even big into PvP and can see this being an avid PvE goer.

So sorry for the wall of text, but there just SO MUCH that can be talked about regarding the game and how it can be improved by looking at what has succeeded in the past and bringing it to a new level, vs trying to implement things that aren’t widely known to work and brute forcing them into a situation where they probably shouldn’t be to begin with. I REALLY want the game to succeed, but with the population dwindling, devs mentioning they would rather see FS servers die than to merge them, and the lack of ENGAGING content with PvP and PvE, it really makes it hard to stay on board. I think the best thing Amazon could do at this point is t focus their development on backend bug fixing, optimization, and push more resources into their environment and sound teams to really get their lumberyard engine in a place to where other more successful and innovative companies can use it to their advantage to make MMO’s or PvP games that really shine with it’s technology.

Don’t know where you’re getting Lost Ark from. I never mentioned it to compare to lol. Never played it, no desire to.

But I mentioned Lost Ark in my post and you answered to it. Does not matter it was not a clue. I could write about any other game. Game is not grindy, you are grinder nobody force you to kill same mobs for hours, nobody force you to chop 1000 trees. Its not need to progress anyway… there are hundreds of ways you can progress and people choose the most boring one… I see those people who stay and drop fragments for corrupted totem for hours… and in the end they say hey game is too grindy. Meanwhile I earn 20k in the way I want on OPRs pvp track, scarab run which take me 30 mins daily… Yesterday I bought new Ig for my FS/IG build I ended witb 450g… now after 4 hours of playing NW I have 16k… and you waste time for 20k worth totem…

Hey, can we be enthusiastic about our hobbies?

And what about Leadership Principles?

Maybe those don’t apply at AGS.

See, that’s the issue though. You’re trying to compare a game that’s been around for 5 or 6 years, to a game that’s been out for just over a year. You can’t judge populations between the 2 games.

Completely different play styles, different ages, different amount of content, different developers.

Never really understood trying to compare the 2.

So another guy who stay 200h on 1 mob to get his 20k totem like last idiot ? I have played on FSS since 0 for 1 month I spent there around 80-90 hours … max 100. Bought almost same gear as I have on my legacy… ended with 156k in pocket because there was nothing on TP…

31% of player base is gone? wait the is from July 13,298.9 avg players and today it is 46,325.5 where is that 31% now if you are talking about since FSS okay but over ALL more are playing now then January 2022.

Good point! sorry but over all the player base is higher that it has been since 1/2022 almost a year ago? so the point that people that cam back just to see what changed and LEFT again like they did last time what?

Did you see the new Ashes of Creation dev video?

Game is going to be sick.

Already more content than new world and its not even in Beta yet.

When is it supposed to release? Tried googling but not seeing a clear answer.

No one knows yet

Hearing one of the devs say their biggest influence MMO was DAoC was a high point of today’s stream for me though. Love that game. Playing the Eden server now.

So player pop has dropped about 20% in the last 4 weeks. The dupe/tp disable in early December cut player numbers by 20%, then it came back a bit, now it’s back ti when the TP was disabled.

Part of that may be holidays - as people go away on leave, spend time with irl friends family etc rather than new world. I expect after holidays are done they won’t come back and game just slowly bleed over the next 8 months.

If they have news about being able to get another new zone ready for October next year might get some more players to return again that time next year.

Updates in first half and middle of the year are unlikely to do anything- tempest and barnacles expeditions did nothing to arrest player decline in 2022, whatever ones they release won’t have much effect either.

Question is whether game will have 13k player peak in June/July this year or more than that.

I read this topic. At first I played the Game till february 22, the next time I startet was November 22.

Now I played for 1 Month and I feel bored. Ok Tempest and Enneade are nice dungeons. But…now I am done!

The only thing I can do is doing mutations 8 and higher. Why they don‘t create Tempest as a big time raid content???
With really hard raid content and Isabella for endboss??

In Wow there are raids and for most community its take time to clear in hero mode.

In NW we only have boring mutations.

Thats why I still quitting the game again for 8-10 month. I dont know what to do.

See you soon !

They have added loads of pve content over the course of the last year and player numbers were decreasing every month leading up until brimstone release, which came with both PVE and PVP content. More pve than pvp, but a new weapon and runestones, new territory to fight over, etc. Brim had pvp stuff, even if it was small but the majority of the updates this year have been pve focused minus the arenas patch, and i remember that didn’t really boost player numbers because people quickly figured out they weren’t that fun and gave terrible rewards that got sorta fixed too late, people already lost interest and quit or didn’t even come back. People loved the great cleave open world pvp but ags quickly nerfed it out of exsistance because they rather keep people grinding longer than people playing the game. Even shortly after brims release one of the biggest updates of the year, player numbers started to dip till fresh start and RTA hit.

Loads of people, including my self complain about muskets, and other pvp issues around balance, and team balance inside OPR. There is no PVP content on the road map at all, and when they talk about other projects not on the road map, they say no set date, and the stuff on road map is the only thing they are confident in reaching their goal. Meaning no pvp content any time soon, thats how it comes across. People are leaving. I am losing interest as well, been playing every day since launch, just basically war log lately. I just don’t see the game being in a healthy state player number wise in a few months, the way things are going, the way the devs priorities things and also keep bringing bugs and exploits into the game every patch. I wouldn’t be surprised if the game was back down to 10k players around march if not sooner. The game was advertised as a pvp game, Its completely built around pvp, the way territories are designed, wars etc. pvp is at the center of the game, and the devs lately been giving pvp the middle finger and the player numbers show.

It was a bold roadmap to release with no PvP content when there’s a ton of good gaming coming around right the corner.

Let’s see how that plays out.
