This argument is a fallacy. No one is saying they should “support us”.
This was suppose to be supported with cosmetics in the cash shop and now they have even added a paid season pass option, this is fine. Some peeps will love the pass and pay for it some wont however it will bring in cashflow for them and that is okay.
Same thing with cosmetics…they have a huge money maker here but for some reason do not want to make money with it due to some stupid design philosophy which isn’t working…fix this and they will make loads of cash and we will support them… yet they continue with clown suits…I can only guess they do not need that much money from us then.
Us supporting them doesn’t require this nickle and diming a la f2p game model, some things need to be free like QoL updates and UI stuff. Not everything needs to be free but some common sense on some stuff is required…got to remember this is amazon they are not broke or some struggling small indie devs so maybe they need to start acting like it.
Peeps need to stop acting like OMG they will end up on the streets begging for their next meal if gear slots are given freely like all QoL things should be.
I mean I say fudge it…if they want to pull a bait and switch on monetization and go this route then have some balls make the game f2p and lets go but stop trying to blow smoke up our backsides like they are trying to do.
If they are that hard up on cash then lets go f2p, lets shove in cosmetics, mounts, xp boosters…oh wait, loot drop boosters, dungeons revives so bosses dot reset and you can res in boss fights etc, etc etc!
You need servers to play on and AGS are paying for those servers, thus supporting you in playing the game. You seem to have decided what AGS should make money on and it differs from what they think is worthwhile to make money. Call it what you like, “nickle and diming”, “pull a bait and switch on monetization” or whatever, there is nothing forcing you to buy anything in game, if you want to buy something then do so, otherwise just don’t buy it, but please stop with the over-dramatic statements as they make you look spoiled.
Storage system is broken since day 1 so they decided to sell game fix, worst kind of marketing you can imagine. I bet 99.9% of supporters of gear slots being monetized are paid marketing.
Lets be honest, they try to make money out of it at all costs. They can’t sell expansions cuz playerbase is so small that it will be pointless so they started to sell QoL fixes, bug fixes will be next
You dont need gear slots to play the game. You dont need to spend a dime more than the game itself, to have any sort of benefit over any other players. All this does is to make it easier to change gear, gear that you and anyone else can get their hands on. It is in no way p2w or b2p, you dont need more gear slots at all, you get some for free which you can use.
If you want more you have the option of getting more for a price, which then permanently gives you that benefit of changing a different set of gear. Gear that you also can have in your inventory at any time.
It’s always about the money and to most working adults the price of the loadout set is insegnificant, hence the reason why we dont mind it, since its a nice feature for a insegnificant price.
$5 x 6 Gear Slots is $30… more than i paid for the whole game, so not so insignficant and certanly not a “value for money” offer!
Aside from that Gear Slots do nothing to address the real issue which is the dire inventory/storage system which is the reason I havn’t returned for season 1.
I bet that sushi satisfied your hunger. The point I was making is purchasing Gear Slots does not fix the broken inventory/storage, it just saves you a few mouse clicks. I’d rather spend my $30 on another game and maybe get some quality gameplay.
But hey, thanks for supporting new world, hopefully they will spend your cash on fixing the broken stuff.
I too think it does not completely solve the problem… but that is because we cannot buy unlimited amounts of them (or at least 20-30), hopefully they change their minds after all the feedback and unlock this feature.
If you feel like its not worth the value, you should never feel forced to spend… spend ur money on whatever has value for u for me this is a nice feature and it add a decent amount of convenience for the value and as such is worth it… especially when i look at other stuff that i often need to in order to live my life.
Also I too hope they use at least a fraction of the money they make from season and so on to improve NW, because there is a lot of room for improvement.

The economy itself is artificial. Inflation impacts everyone, whether their product is physical or not. I’d argue that there are still many overheads to creating computer games and that games like New World are not free of ongoing costs as they continue to work on them.
I do get your point, along with a number of other people who have similar concerns. The thing is, gearsets don’t solve the problem that AGS created. I have purchased all the gearsets in the shop and still have a gear management problem. Did you realise you can’t search in the gearsets for items? I lost a necklace yesterday and finally found it in one of my gearsets. I still have more gear out of the sets than in them. I still can’t find anything in my inventory.
I do like gearsets but I think the problems AGS creates and the items they sell are two different things. The problems still exist, if you don’t have extra gearsets don’t even imagine that your life would be better if you did. It won’t.
What is dramatic is the idea you are peddling that if ags doesn’t sell gear slots they cant afford to pay server upkeep…like their pencil pushers did include this in their business model before launch.
At this point you are just being a troll so I will repeat practice what you preach.
They just need to make decent cosmetics and the cash will come rolling in, seriously we have had threads on this since launch with loads of people asking for such.

What is amazing is how you don’t see you are doing the same thing but just from the other end of the spectrum AND also adding in how you think we should pay to play this game or otherwise we are scrubs that want stuff handed to us free on a silver platter, maybe you should bugger off and again practice what you preach there weak sauce.
