590-600 is vastly bigger than 600-625. You seem to be misunderstanding the gain on 601-625.
The 10 extra stat points arent huge between 600-625, your already 500 attribute points with food at 600.
My point and counter point to @Kippp was that the armor and damage factors don’t matter as your scaled down to whomever has the lower GS.
I tested it in OPR and WAR and ppl in 590 gear, I was doing less overall damage to vs someone in 600+ gear and I’m 612 avg in PvP gear with 615 weapons.
Yup… even if its minimal now, if mutated dungeons remain the sole choke point for progression, eventually GS will increase again and then it WILL matter.
This whole expertise system was trash design created to made up for the lack of content.
At the beginning, you could hit lv 60 and then buy Voidbent + some 59x weapon on the trading post and be instantly ready to play OPR and wars.
Now you have to grind you ass to 600 expertise thru gypsum, DGs and chest runs. Not being satisfied with this grind they created this trash Umbral System to make you upscale to 625 only thru dungeons.
I’m still lower than 600 on GS and I’m already feeling the difference on OPR since my server is grinding mutations hard for a week. And I can do nothing since my jewelry is under 570 expertise.
They’re killing the PvP more and more on this game.
To be fair, I think part, maybe even a big part, of the expertise system was to discourage buying and selling gold. Prior to the expertise system people could literally buy a level 60 account, buy a couple hundred dollars worth of gold, and then have a maxed level character with BiS gear within 1 hr.
Lets definitely not forget what also happened this patch when talking about gear score relevance.
Not only can people now get to 625 (already seen some 617s in the first week) who were already well ahead of the gear game before, but if you did not have 600GS equipment before this patch rolled out, and your expertise hasn’t been ground up to 600, you are getting your equipment downscaled when you finally get it.
You could get as little as a 550 score from 600GS equipment that you put on today, if you didnt spend the last months furiously trying to catch up your watermark/gear score/expertise.
The gap between a lvl 60 at 550GS and one at 625GS is substantial.
I was already at around a 597 avg GS when this dropped but not ready to do those mutations yet, and those guys in the 610+ gear are noticeably harder to fight this week than they were last.
Nice way to “fix” a problem the game created itself. The only reason there’s so much gold being sold is the larger companies earning millions and millions of gold every week in he biggest cities. And this doesn’t changed anything besides killing PvP for newcomers. People are still buying gold everyday.
So most people who have lives outside of a virtual world probably didn’t even hit 60 until around Decemberish. But sure… we are “lazy”… because you know… we work, take the kids to activities, take our wives on date night, and drive the economy to support the losers who play a game 60 hours a week instead of contributing to society.
Was this tested in Open World where there is Gear Scaling or in OPR where there isn’t? It should have little to no difference in Wars, OPR and may have a larger impact in Open world due to scaling is my understanding.
We have a full group of 5 that runs OPR 2 - 4x a night typically and within the last week we’ve noticed a HUGE difference in damage output from 600+ players. We’re getting 2 and 3 shot and it’s always someone that is 600+.
Unfortunately no:( My friend decided to quit the game last night out of frustration so I dont think he will bother uploading the footage to youtube. Sorry guys.
