Thanks for speaking about this OP, here’s my thread I’ve been trying to bump with relevant info at least once a day because it feels like this issue is not being acknowledged.
And though I see there is a CM who responded today to your thread, I am still worried that nothing will change.
…and this is why I keep to myself, mainly play solo, and interact with people as little as possible.
I feel like this issue has been acknowledged, and the problem is that no one wants to accept the acknowledgment.
Amazon has stated categorically that they do not have an auto-ban system for in-game reporting. No amount of ‘mass reporting’ leads to automatic bans. It is of course possible that a human employee can make a poor decision, and for that there is the appeal process; but there literally isn’t anything ‘more’ for Amazon to say on the issue of ‘mass reporting’.
Whether or not Auto-Bans exist or not is not relevant to the fact that the problem is people are getting banned for sport. By automatic bans, we mean INSTANT bans. Doesn’t matter if it is a lazy person, a person with poor judgment, or a bot that ags claims not to have.
And I am unconvinced that there isn’t an AI system in place to ban people cause people getting banned for “botting” while fishing and harvesting randomly while by themselves is also a common complaint. And many people got banned for unknowingly buying duped items from the TP.
By “acknowledged” I mean the team is not speaking up on it, they are not confronting it or the victims. They are making people just deal with the ban time frame even if people are innocent in many cases.
Since when do you see AGS talking about in-game reports and unrightful bans killing player population and ruining PVP? You don’t ever see it. The comment above mine was just my first time seeing it.
What you will see instead is them constantly thanking and acknowledging people for complaining about bugs and opinions on balance. You never see them going around treating threads about mass reporting and false bot flagged bans with the same attention.
In fact, ever since they made people link their steam acc with the forums acc, people who get banned are unable to post. So guess what? You’ve seen less complaints from people who do get banned for no reason. All of it has to go privately through the ticket system, or you have to have a friend complain on your behalf on the forums and hope it comes through, or you have to buy the game again on a new steam account.
The fact that people get banned while they are in the midst of some otherwise normal activity is meaningless. What a player is doing at the precise moment the ban is implemented most likely has absolutely nothing to do with the reason they were banned. More importantly, the fact that a person who was banned cannot think of a reason they can think of that would justify their ban does not mean there is no such reason. So when you see people making posts complaining that they were banned for some innocuous reason, or ‘for no reason at all’, you are overwhelmingly seeing people who either don’t know the true reason for their ban, don’t agree with the reason they were banned, or in some cases are even outright lying about why they were banned.
For these reasons, I also do not buy that ‘many’ people got banned for ‘unknowingly’ buying duped items. I think some of them were ‘in’ on the duping scheme (lying), and for the rest I think they fall into the ‘didn’t know’ or ‘don’t agree’ categories, but that their bans had nothing at all to do with buying anything from the TP.
As far as people being unable to post…so what? If you’re banned, I see no reason why you should be allowed to pollute the forums with your commentary. You still have the ability to pursue a re-evaluation of your ban regardless of your forum permissions. The forum isn’t the appropriate place for that to be done anyway.
Yeeeeep. I’ve been bitching and pissing and moaning about this from some of the first publicized cases and they haven’t ever once even slightly budged.

If someone is getting falsely banned for “Botting” because they are harvesting, fishing, looting, etc why would that ban have 0 to do with what they are doing? Obviously something they are doing makes them get kicked for cheating/botting when they arent. Without keeping the context of my original quote that you used, you’re not making a point, just an argument.

Debunked by countless users and even the community managers themselves who have recognized and stated that the report button is weaponized in the game. People can really get banned for no good reason. You so much as call someone stupid in new world and you can get mass reported and banned. Calling someone stupid is NOT against the game’s rules, not against tos, etc. So yes, that is being banned for no reason.
BUT. Yes, there are a lot of liars out there and the devs would know who. But there are also a lot of legit complaints.

Some people did have knowledge and even went through private trade, a lot of players unknowingly bought it because you cannot see who posts on the TP. “Many People” DID get banned for “Unknowingly” buying duped items. You’d be delusional to assume that so many dupers would out themselves selling 7000 tier 5 super rare items thus making it more likely that customers did know the items were illegit. The issue was so bad they had to un-permaban hundreds or thousands of accounts.

The game tells you why you are banned. If their ban had nothing to do at all with buying stuff from the TP, they would know that. Also, the mods can see chat logs and know if someone is in on the duping scheme. Whether or not they choose to unban that person who is in on it is up to them.

And some of us disagree with this because there can be irresponsible people who respond and simply don’t feel like checking and dealing with the ticket. If I get banned for cheating when I know I did not cheat, and I don’t get responses from tickets, or I get told I will get a response in 24 hrs and it’s been weeks passed. I want to look for a community manager on the forums, I want to share about my experience to the public so they know what they’re paying for and what they can potentially get into, and to me comments like yours full of assumptions and no experience is polluting the forums with commentary.
If you know nothing about how this stuff works and what the experience is about then you don’t need to feel so passionately about trying to discredit people who do. There are other threads you can actually contribute to.
My fav part was when they lied int he most recent dev video that this shit wasn’t happening just like they claim here on the forums, it’s nice having a face to go with the lies!

Sorry I guess you personally didn’t Lie but the Devs did, I keep seeing similar post to this one.
I have heard this happen to plenty of others and even the other people saying, “Enjoy your ban” because they are sour grapes they are losing. This absolutely needs to be addressed by AGS because it sounds like they auto ban anyone who gets x amount of reports and from the sounds of it these people don’t get unbanned. I am willing to bet anything, they don’t actually have people look at logs etc.
But yeah, AGS needs to change how the ban system works and hire people then to look at logs instead of auto banning for x amount of complaints because it gets abused sooo easily.
