8$ / gear slot in Canada... sigh

It’s time AGS adds region-specific pricing. It’s 8$ in Canada plus tax for one gear slot. That comes out to 9.14 when you go to pay. So, 81$ if you want all the gear slots, another 32$ to buy 20,000 marks for the pass.
That’s 113$cad if you want to buy the pass and the gear slots. You’re just alienating non-US players since everyone outside the US is paying insane prices. Your playerbase is going to shrink even more with seasons if season 2 is a half-assed money grab attempt like s1 is.

They are regional prices… probably thats why you pay more.

The prices are “regionalized” by Steam, since all our transactions go though steam not though Amazon or anything like that.

For example the prices are 7-8 times lower in SA regions
And more expensive in 1st world countries like UK (in my case) and in general in Europe (because of all the taxes that europe imposes on digital products).

Since when is 8 bucks expensive,:rofl::joy:

Jeff is that you?

Average salary in Canada is 70k in 22’… it would cost him a total of 113$, that would be a whole 3 hours worth of work in Canada.

Obviously we cannot assume he is just average, which such financial prowess he is at least an experienced worker earning over 100k a year, potentially 1-2 hours worth of work

AGS is way too greedy… the prices should be priced around fraction of a second worth of work… you should work for 1second and pay for 10 years worth of content in games. /s

The people complaining about the small cost are probably on welfare. I mean, who else worries about the cost of every purchase?

The math isn’t mathing.

You can only buy 6 gear slots. Where the 81$ came from? You get 2 or 3 for free.

I tend to think the same, my life experience tought me that almost every single person that complains about costs in a video game cannot afford it and thats why they complain.

In Highschool i had a coleague, and were still friends, that was always complaining about paying for video games, from paying for arcade to the smallest things in the world (he was from a modest family). He ended up becoming a doctor, now he drops anywhere between 100k to 150k$ a year on games and ofc now he will complain if there is no option to progress though $, because he doesnt have the time to play 12h a day  and this is just one case of many that i have seen in my time spend gaming.

Actually, depending on area being on Welfare means you don’t have to worry about the cost of these types of purchases. It can be as generous as having both food and housing fully covered in addition to cash payments to spend where ever.

Some people simply don’t know how to manage money, and I’m not sure why people try making it a US vs the rest of the world scenario. Most Americans aren’t even wealthy, and not all Americans who are paid a lot of money actually have a lot of money; some areas in the US have horrible housing and food costs, and these areas have inflated wages to match. You can earn half as much as a lot of Californians and still be wealthier than them.

Even within the US, 5 USD per gear slot is expensive. However, I don’t think it’s expensive because it’s too much for poor people, it’s a value thing. A single slot in a game like NW is hardly anything, and the maximum allowed is too low. We also already had to pay for the game, so they don’t even get to hide behind the typical defense of it being ‘free’ to justify creating issues to sell solutions. The amount of gear swapping could also be reduced and rewarded by playing the game which would reduce the need for high amounts of slots unless a person played every single weapon min-maxed.

This is absolutely false. 5 dollars in the US is nothing. Its like a gallon and a half of gas. Its the same as a coffee at Starbucks. Its cheap af.

Expensive also means overpriced, and something being overpriced is mostly from the argument of value and not affordability. I can afford 100 of these if they had that as the limit, but that doesn’t mean it’s good value simply because I can afford to do so.

If you consider these to be good value, that’s great. Everyone has their own opinion on what provides value. Me not buying these because I consider it poor value has no direct impact on you. The only low value products I buy are in areas where there’s no legitimate choice, such as buying an RTX4080. Games on the other hand have other options and I can just play the game without buying these.

Expensive does not equal overpriced, lol. Where do some of you come up with this nonsense? Something can be relatively inexpensive yet overpriced. It can also be expensive yet not overpriced. So many simple concepts are misunderstood here.

I am also Canadian and these outrageous prices are enough to make me quit NW…it was fun while it lasted, played 1700hrs so I got my money’s worth but the recent monetizing feels too predatory for me…same reason I’m not buying Diablo 4, with tax and conversion it’s over $100 for just the base game. And I agree there should be region specific pricing but even then $5/gear slot is terrible when you consider that they were the ones who created the problem now they’re selling the solution.
