A case against bonus luck for PvP flagged players

It’s a 30% gathering luck bonus. To ALL gathering.

That’s great for your server but there are a lot more servers where this is not the case. Your individual server can’t be used to gauge the health of all other servers. It’s easy to see there are far more low to medium pop servers without balance.

It does not affect fishing.

Good for your server, wish it was the model for all.

Oh thats good.

Absolutely, this is what I’m arguing for. I want real incentives for meaningful ow-PvP.

Before the patch, PVE players (myself) had an advantage over pvp players, hands down. I think the latest patch was meant to try to balance that.

Risk vs Reward doesn’t matter if there’s no reward. That said… I think most of these threads being created are missing the actual issue. It’s not about having or not having a reward. There should be a reward. But at this time, the benefit is far too extreme and needs to be toned down, a lot.

Case dismissed.

Do you always bring this much insight to topics?

I am a PvP player and I’m telling you, PvE players had no advantage over me before or after this patch.

Flagging bonus is the best thing to come to this game. The amount of activity I’ve seen since has been a relief seeing players banding together. It creates an actual fight for resources with a good risk to reward.

Keep it!

Not very extreme when the grind is very real.

Perhaps each has their own story to tell. But we can’t see the macro data telemetry on this.

I do both pve and pvp, but I generally favor pve in games. The only way I can see pvp not having a disadvantage pre-patch is if you’re in a server where no one does pvp.

If people didn’t want people to have any benefit to flagging, why weren’t people complaining about the experience bonus pre-60?

It’s not that there’s a reward, it’s the kind of reward/extreme that’s the problem. Anyone who understands risk vs reward should understand this.

It’s actually very extreme and the grind can be real because of other game design issues. Can break it down in numbers if you wish, but it’s getting old now.

Clearly you have an issue with PvP in the game, and I’m sorry to be the first person to break this news to you but this game was always a PvP first focused game and a PvE game second. Just look at the history and development of this game. Your problem isn’t so much with the luck as it is with the concept of “flagging up” in New World from what it sounds like when I see your replies and reactions to valid points people bring up. If you are having an issue in your server with getting beat a lot by people flagging up, then either chose to not flag up or choose to change your build to address the type of player(s) affecting your farming when flagged up. The system makes sense now and gives more incentive to the player base this game doesn’t want to lose.

Because the experience bonus is a negligible bonus compared to a flat +3000 to every single roll you make when gathering.

So you agree with my message then.

Did you read anything before replying? If you had, you’d know I am a PvP player advocating for a system that encourages meaningful ow-PvP with it’s own unique rewards. Not this half baked idea cooked up by the newest intern.
