A few questions from a casual player looking to start

I bought the game back when it first launched. However, something happened to my PC, finally getting a new one into today. Thinking of downloading. I only had time to play like the introduction zone, but I absolutely loved it. Played WoW off and on since vanilla, and this was just a huge breath of fresh air. The zone was gorgeous, loved the animations and enemies, and combat was actually fun.

Between then and now, I’ve heard a lot of bad about the game, but nothing really specific. I know the economy is jacked, lots of imbalances, bugs, etc. I guess my questions, without needed to go to in depth on those things, can someone play casually and still enjoy things like crafting, housing, pvp, etc? Or are those bugs going to just make those systems unbearable?

The other thing I’ve read is a huge gripe on getting geared. I’d be sticking with one toon, I don’t have a ton of time and some other games I want to play. Also would probably stick with one weapon combo. Do you have to grind to holy gear levels to be able to compete in PvP at all, or at least with any hope of making a difference?

I started at the beginning and after 800 hours gave up. 7 mos went by and I heard about fixes and came back, at least for a time. Things are in a much better place and it’s worth coming back even to play casually.

As for PvP to me this game has issues and unless you’re attached to a company in which players will travel around with you or you wanna be a try hard as far as gearing up then it’s a bit of a struggle.

If you don’t focus on PvP in the end, assuming I don’t get into a company, how do you make endgame fun? Like what goals do you set for yourself or what do you that makes you still want to come back and play? A lot of this I’m sure I’ll just have to learn and see for myself, but with it being a time investment of a game, I like to get an idea.

I don’t focus on endgame. I’ll do what’s there but the journey to me is as important as the destination.
