First of all I want to tell that I am understanding you all.
You want to play the game, to have the feel of a new game experience.
But trust me and trust AGS, this is the right decision.
I am a veteran player. Have more than 2000 hours in live game and PTR.
The 90% of veteran players know that this is the right date.
Let me explain you and sorry for my bad English.
The same time that you guys, was watching YouTube videos about how much dead is this game, the veterans stayed here. Giving feedback every day, testing new stuff in ptr. We know every single corner in the map about this game. And of course the dev team never abandoned the game. So please trust us.
This update is a huge. The new content, the fix of the broken territory economy, all the QOL changes the made, are a good advertisement for the game. To release a not stable and solid update will make the returning players to insta quit again and never come back. This will be the real death of this game. AGS knows it , veterans know it. I am really glad you are here. I am really glad that you want to play the game again. But let it be a solid update. It’s an opportunity.
Please think. You want just to play the game or you want to be succeed and has life?
I believe that the most of you, want the second.
Be patient for some days. I want to try a fresh server experience with all of you. Be patient and have fun!
I absolutely love that the start date is November 2nd. Allow brimstone to come out and the existing servers can be tainted by the major bugs, exploits, and dupes. Two weeks later you will have a “fresher” start server versus if fresh start starts now or at the release of Brimstone.
They never said it would come with Brimestone, freshies just assumed it would. Either way I think it’s fair. It gives the people that didn’t quit time to enjoy Brimestone, the Halloween Event, and whatever else event they have planned. Then all those that quit can comeback after the event is over to enjoy their own Return Event and the fresh server’s first Holiday event will be Thanksgiving, just like the original servers.
Its funny u rly think that those 2 weeks change anything? There will be Bugs there will be exploits there will be bots…What u mean “fresher”? there is PTR server to test update if its not polished so its not ready to be out.
By putting fresh servers 2 weeks later for a more smooth experience, is saying they are not sure Brimstone is ready/they expect things to go bad. So they are using the existing players again as Beta testers.
the first 3 weeks in October was the perfect time to bring new people and show them they changed, after that people will have other options and not everybody will pick to play NW. So if you ask me they will get way less new people then they could
I think I significant percentage of people upset about the date are upset because of how soon the devs started hinting at the FSS on the forums.
Now, I don’t believe it was wrong of them to proceed that way, they needed to first gauge interest, gather our questions, hopes and fears etc. so it makes sense that they did it that way. I think some people just got way emotional about it.
I myself am disappointed the date is so far but I realize I’m disappointed because I’m excited about everything. Nothing to do with AGS however, thats all on me
I just asked for vacations 1 week after Nov 2nd so that I can jump in with (hopefully) more stable servers AND am very glad that the devs are taking the time to prep everything. ^^
All this to say, I’m super glad we finally got a date and I’m excited to get going!
I find it absolutely hilarious how you think they care in the slightest about those who stayed with them. If they would the anniversary would’ve looked way different. Or at least a public statement with appreciation to those that stayed.
They are literally finishing what they started OVER a year ago already. Brimstones was leaked like, 3 weeks after release?
The main population right now is returners and new players. You “veteran” players are already a minority of the game.
Agree tho the dates aren’t that terrible. It’s probably more to do that less people will try the game at 2nd since other titles come around that time. So they can take a relaxed approach to the potentially server stability issues. Pretty big L for the game in my book, but hey it’s a comfortable and more save approach
I agree with some of what you said, but to be fair, most of the bugs they fixed were being complained about since beta. Being a veteran player that stuck it out did not have much to do with them knowing what needed to be fixed/tweaked.
Most of the stuff they fixed that was not known about, was a result of the fixes they put in place causing other issues. So, thank you vets and bots for sticking it out.
And i think 4 weeks is to soon. Should be 6 to 8 weeks.
I just watched Demone’s video and he like others on the forum seems most upset because of his incorrect assumptions around timing not because of the actual timing.
The starting experience on the PTR was great. I think most players will enjoy it. There is no massive drama in waiting until November 2 is there?
I mean hope there is no one with a terminal illness, likely to die before November 2, who really wants to experience a fresh start server (I guess you could try out the PTR).
I personally thinks that the release date is a wise choice. As freshly returning player (last sunday)) i’m looking forward for the FSS, but i’m playing now on a regular one as my personal beta test. Trying different builds and loadout, and practicing the game again. I will play on FSS at release to see the new story, and also to see the difference between the 2 economy. One thing i’m worried is that FSS have transfer disabled, so if i don’t like the server for any reason i cannot move out. My actual character is my plan “B”. If FSS is good for me i’ll stay there, if not i will go back to play what i’m playing now. And atm the experience boost is really nice to have
