DISCLAIMER: This may or may not work for you, or even be the culprit at all, and just co-incidental - as such , I would appreciate any feedback or confirmation on whether or not this at least reduced if not eliminated the high latency / lag spikes we have been experiencing since 1.0.4. Furthermore, it is not adviseable to do anything more than just a brief test for purposes of providing feedback to AGS.
the TLDR: Block all incoming & outgoing traffic for Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\New World\Bin64\GameCrashUploader.exe. (For Windows - Add 2 new rules to Windows Firewall, for both incoming and outgoing for this executable, setting it to block).
You can also before hand check your game log files, and CrashUpdater.log file, You should see the CrashUpdater.exe triggering every few minutes
I truly hope this works for at least some if not all of my fellow rubber-banders. May you all climb up stairs without ending up dead at the bottom of a ditch 20 meters away
Thanks for sharing this bud. Unfortunately doesn’t work for me. Rubberbanding in towns and outpost rush is still happening frequently and has worsened after the last patch.
I’m sorry to read that you’re having lag issues that haven’t been solved yet. I think there is something that might help you fix this problem. In a previous post, I found very useful fixes from a mate and some players, here I a paste the post if you want to check it: Very low fps after patch
Actually, I tried all solutions as possible including Verified game on steam, Uncheck IPv6, delete folders on %appdate%, Change to the new OS, Virtual memory increasing, Delete DNS, tried some paid VPNs , tried alternative Visual+Gameplay- Settings in game, updated newest graphic driver,… The above solution I mentioned has not worked properly as I expected.
But I have tried your fix in 7 hours consistently, My game has been still frozen but it has frozen about 6-8 seconds within 15m instead of the previous circumstance being frozen near 90 seconds within 7m.
Don’t get me wrong, You help me a lot regarding my time and my New World experience.
Hope the next patch will resolve this major problem before more ppl are about to quit this game
The “Lag” discussed in OP is relating to Network connectivity, and not graphics problems or low framerate (stutter ). For example, I have full 60 frames per second capped ( or at least did before latest patch), but the server sometimes doesn’t respond for 1 or 2 seconds, so you “rubber-band” (your character try to move forward, but pull u back every-time, or when you press attack, but attack only happen 2 seconds later). So you you have 1000 to 2000 milliseconds between the game and server communicating, when the normal playable milliseconds should be not more than 50 to 200 milliseconds (depending how far you are from server)
thanks @loomy69 for this. I am pretty sure this blocked all the huge spikes of data being received from the s3 bucket. Either that or they fixed something over there, but yeah, no more huge spikes which crashed my whole internet connection, only the regular data now.
Unfortunately this did not help me with my other problem of getting an all-around 100+ latency increase due to sending and receiving all the data to US continent in stead of keeping it inside SA where i’m playing
Thank @loomy69 I’ve tried your fix but it’s not working for me. I’m on Brittia and right now I’m having insane latency spikes. Hope dev team can solve this issue asap for all regions
I tried this fix this morning and I have to see my connection seems a lot more stable. I am not rubberbanding every few minutes anymore. The only thing is that every so often I will get the “Lag Detected” message on my screen with everything frozen for about 20 seconds or so. Afterwards it seems to work fine. Obviously not ideal but definitely on the right track.
I still didn’t get if devs acknowledged that those huge latency spikes is a problem on their end or not. Cause we have been posting literally hundreds of comments since the 1.03 came out and we are still talking about massive rubberbanding, desync and latency spikes…I can live with bugs and unbalanced mechanics but watching your toon being tossed around in the middle of a fight or as its trying to mine a node it’s just unacceptable especially if you are playing on Amazon’s server that is supposed to be leader in the category…Its crystal clear that with 1.03 you introduced something that screwed your netcode.
