just use the crafting tier appropriate for your level. even before the patch you could never buy enough flint to level up with gunpowder, because there was not enough flint available.
they fixed abusing lowtier crafts, but the market already regulated itself for this. (0.01 ori was more efficient than 0.4 iron)
before the patch it was cheaper to use starmetal/ori for leveling. but if entering the correct prices on the website is too much work, you shouldn’t try leveling it at all =p nothing has changed. and you have to invest way less coins than leveling before, everyone who is leveling now already has a massive bonus. (in the early days you needed ~450k coins to reach lv200! now we are down to somewhere around 150k)
I don’t know why they increased it - the grind was already horrible. Thanks for taking time to put this up so ppl could see the increases. The bad part is that ppl have been telling them how hard that grind is - and they increased it… It is like the GA situation. Everyone is using GA and WH… So they buff GA and nerf other weapons.
You have a good point, spamming gunpowder was never the best way to level engineering in terms of gold per exp, people only did it because they could gather the materials themselves. I got from 150 to 200 solely by crafting orichalcum tools and turned a profit in the process - that was fine when there were 4-5 crafters on a server of 4-5k non-concurrent players, I sold the 5-600 tools I crafted in about a week. But now that most servers have dropped to 1-1.5k active non-concurrent players, AND you have a lot more people crafting stuff, AND most people already got their tools, it’s basically impossible for new crafters to sell their stuff at all, I’m not even talking about turning a profit, the demand just isn’t there.
Yeah. OK. Crafting via spamming low tiers crafts was bad. OK. They changed it. OK. No problem with it.
But they raised XP needed to reach that 200lvl too. So even using high tiers crafts you need to do much much more than before patch. And THIS is really bad.
a little over 100 hours. I mean i collect hides and motes a lot while roaming so that adds up, completing the wood town board adds up fast too. The raw materials is a lot but its probably the reagent bottleneck that is going to slow everyone down.
Yes to XP, no to offset. All they’ve done is made lower tier crafts give you less XP and increased the XP requirements to get to 200, so to actually have any meaningful progress you simply have to craft higher tier items. Except those require higher tier ingredients which are much rarer and take more time to find. Basically you’ll be farming more, crafting more and getting less XP in return.
If AGS really wants to stop gold-sellers they should stop making gold purchases look so damn attractive. It gets more and more tempting every “update”.
