A Selfless Nature/Well Guardian is going to make me quit this game

For the past 2 days I have been looking for a group to kill Well Guardian with. Logging on has become a chore instead of fun. I try and try hard to organize a group, we get about 5-6 people, and we aren’t able to kill him. You need like 10 people to kill him without cheesing the boss. We’ve managed to kill him once, but shocker, I didn’t get credit for the kill. It sucks not being able to progress further into this game from such a stupid quest.

I think I’ll try for a few more days then just quit if i can’t find a group, because it’s only going to get harder, not easier to complete the quest as time goes on. Anyone recently done this quest? If so, how long did it take you to complete it? Am I just getting really unlucky?

i did it with 3 people and we wiped again and again til i realised we needed blight potions, after that we got it first try with only 3 of us we used the camp that was out front to run back while one or two hold if one was to die, i can see this being a problem once there is only 1 or 2 people left that need to kill it but 3 should be do-able!

what levels were the 3 of you?

@Bosnia We are sorry to hear this. When you tried out the quest, what level were the other players you were attempting the quest with?

Can you give an elaboration on what you did, what weapons/potions you used?

We may be able to help with some tips!

There was 5-6 of us. All above level 56. Ranging from 56 to 60. We had 1 healer, 1 tank, and 3-4 DPS. We all had blight potions. The issue was that he switches aggro very easily, and once one person dies it’s usually a quick wipe. I just don’t get how a quest so difficult can be a gatekeeper for the main quest line. As time progresses, it will be only more difficult to find a party to complete this, as it is impossible to solo him.

Level 57. Medium Head, Heavy Chest, Heavy Hands, Light Pants, Medium Boots. Medium Overall. Fire/Rapier.

This is marked as a level 50 quest, that does not mention a group.

I am killed in 2 hits.

I was EXTREMELY lucky to finish this. I was lvl 54-55 at the time and logged in right at that area(as that’s where I logged out the previous night looking for a group for the quest) and as soon as I got in there was a big group running into the portal to do it so I joined them, but I agree…you cannot go back in after you do the quest to help a lower level afterward, and as more people hit 60 and do this less people will be able to help. They do know about this issue and if I can find the response from the other thread I’ll post it, but yeah poor quest design here for sure.

Just noticed a CM responded here too so I’m really hoping they are aware of this issue and tune down that quest a bit

I understand they know about it, and that there are other major bugs to work on… but this is a major halting issue for the main storyline of the game. This has been reported on this forum at least 17 days ago.

I have been attempting to get a group together for two hours as I type this. I am on Eden, the third largest US East server, and I have found two other people.

EDIT: 1000 people currently on Eden. Of those, two people were are this quest stage, and responded. One dropped out after one hour of waiting. I will try again later tonight when there is a queue. If I can’t do it with a full day of recruiting, I will go play some other game until they fix the MAIN STORY.

I still haven’t gotten to that point in the game because of another soft lock that is the “dragonglory flower” required to complete a previous quest step. I start to suspect the Well Guardian quest stage design (requiring 9 other people that are in the same quest stage - as if finding people to group with for anything other than Myrkgard tours wasn’t hard already) is intentional to try and prevent people to get past that stage and find out there’s no more game.

Fixing the Well Guardian situation should be among their top priorities because it’s an issue in the main quest line.

Progressing in the main story is pointless anyway since the Azoth Staff that you get as a reward for finishing the storyline has been completely broken since the game launched a couple weeks ago and judging by how terrible their reaction time to fix major issues is, the staff won‘t work for another couple weeks minimum.

If your tips involve grouping up with more people, Please understand that anyone who ALREADY completed the quest, can’t go back and fight the well guardian. This guy is hard enough as is with a group, only because he’s a hp sponge. But Solo? Forget it. You’ll need a patience of a saint, and a cheese strategy just to beat him. Where are you going to find this group when they can’t go help newer players who missed the well guardian train? They’ve effectively locked out of the main quest, and at the same time, Azoth staff level 5 because no one can help them. It’s poorly designed, and it need to be fix. I was lucky enough to find a group who needed to do this quest. What about any other person who is struggling to find someone?

I was finally able to gather 6 people, with another 2 randomly running in during the fight.

It was so much fun to stand on a platform for 20 minutes (on an unmarked, misleveled main story raid boss) holding down left click on my fire staff, and hitting Q sometimes for Fireball. Even if I could go back in to help new players, there is no reason why I would subject myself to that hassle again.

I don’t want to be rude but this is not true. It’s not a hard boss if you go at the required level and with a proper healer, proper tank, and a party with several blight potions on their consumable bar. I did it with 4 people - 3 60s and a 53. The quest itself really is a 58-60 level fight, so make sure most of the party is in that range as well. After that it’s merely a fight of survival - if everyone has blight potions on then healing will do the proper amount, tank needs to keep the boss occupied, and everyone else tries their best to dodge attacks while the tank/healer keep everyone alive. Damage isn’t as important as merely surviving long enough for the boss to go down. With proper levels, group makeup, blight pots, and dodging/kiting it’s not hard.

The only thing I’ll say is Amazon should allow people who’ve completed the quest to go back in and help, merely for no rewards. The fight itself is fine and doesn’t need to be changed. Annoying with the terrain sure, but not undoable. The majority of people I see who complain are either underleveled, have no pots, terrible or no healer, or something else.

This was not at all my experience. We had people wipe but usually not more than one at a time and when camped outside, the rest of the party only needs to stay alive for a matter of seconds before the person is back inside. We even had our tank repeatedly disconnecting for long periods of time and the rest of us freezing (this room clearly has some bugs in this regard) and we still managed to do it.

The staff works fine and has since I think last week.

@Gamercape We appreciate your input on this and we understand you and many other players are bringing this information to us so we can improve New World for the whole community. I have noted this to the team for further review. They will be sure to look into this as I have compiled a decent report. As soon as information becomes available to us, it will be shared here.

We thank you!

Same issue.

Imagine how much worse this issue will be when a large portion of players have already completed the mission. This mission is one of the worst solo gameplay experiences currently.

Level: 58
GS: 490
Potions: Powerful Blight Tincture
Powerful Health Potions
Powerful Regeneration Potions

Spent 3 days using Recruitment to try and get players for join up, however it appears most players have already completed the quest, or they also gave up on the game once they got to this quest and realized how ridiculous it is.

Imagine someone joining the game two months from know…

He wont find anyone to help him to do that quest, since everyone will be lvl 60 already.

He will have to beg to 10+ people help him complete the main story line, which in insane…

The main story line should be solable or done at max by a 5 member group.

I actually just quit New World the other day over this quest. It has locked me into not being able to progress the main story, or my Faction quests. I may come back one day, but for now, I’m done.

After killing him you need to pick up something on the floor before leaving the cave. Just saying.

You can’t access the cave after validating the quest, so people won’t even be able to help.
