A way to work around the server transfer bug?

A friend of mine couldn’t do a server transfer because he had the bug like everyone else.
He traveled to another settlement and tried it there and suddenly it worked.

I don’t know if it works for everyone or if the devs have already done something about it, but try it out and maybe you could FINALLY play together with your friends.
