A win for the carebears, gratz

I agree with OP. This is very disheartening to see the devs cave to the crytards. Most people actually playing the game seemed to like the changes. Devs are making a terrible mistake allowing whiners to dictate their game to them.

After this news I already find myself losing interest as pay2win duped gold is currently the way to play new world.

I would have preferred for them to have just brought in the expertise system as an alternative to crafting, so all your crafted gear would stay where it is and you would have the alternative of expertise to push WM as a catch up.

I swear the second I’ve read his post I saw a picture in my head of him shooting the tentacle boss with a bow for 2 weeks straight. loool

I would take your more reasoned replies like this one more serioiusly if you didn’t start this whole conversation by putting gamers into the usual adversarial categories and insult every player who doesn’t seem to play the same way you do. You get style points for your most recent repllies but you fail as a conversation starter.

Not true. On my server it was hated. The people who liked it were generally rushers and zerglings who mindlessly zerged to 600gs.

that’s out of the 110 or so of us left on it after previous terrible decisions and TP lockdowns drove 90% of players to quit already.

Yea YOU. But a lot of people who put in a 100h for wm farm wouldn’t be happy and likely leave.
If the change wouldn’t happen all crafters/farmers would likely leave.
How you can be unhappy with their change of stance is beyond me.

They literally satisfied both groups with that change.
And it’s not about ā€œcarebearsā€. It’s about honoring peoples time.
My gs is almost at max eventho I don’t play for 5weeks now…

The only fair way would be reset it all to 500, but that would make noone happy in the end.

ye ppl did that for 2months on my server with macros for 10h straight lol. Varying the group doing it every other day

I tried to explain it in a previous answer you probably will not find because it has been drowned in foaming carebears.

I think the decision to leave items before patch unaffected will cause a huge rift between players. People will be very unhappy someone has an unaffected sword or other item, while they will have to grind for theirs for a long time.

Ok, ima have fun with this.

Yes it is… and 8 weeks is two months but you tried to make it sound like they would be doing it faster than you did… which is false.

You did Myrk with 5 players? Very interesting.
I don’t really care whether or not you and yours exploited the zerg or not. It’s just as invalidating a circumstance as the people who RMT’d coin to level their crafting or buy their gear. The stain is there regardless of your wishes.

This… this is where you fall flat on your face. Gathering materials, including rare materials from all over the island (and fighting the elite mobs guarding them) is content. You killed the elites for the chest… I killed the elites for the ore.

So you can take that very narrowminded ā€˜content’ attitude and shove it up your aeturnum.

You did content ONE of the ways AGS marketed.
(The other was crafting and making use of the market…and its still there)

This is laughably hypocritical.
ā€œyou don’t respect someone’s time and effort [doing the only content loop I approve of]ā€

The people raising hell on the forums weren’t rewarded… they avoided being nerfed into the ground.

BIG difference.

Hell, by your own implication, you WERE rewarded. You didn’t get your gear nerfed into the ground and your time wasted! Congrats!

Yeah… imagine NOT being nerfed into the ground for no reason.

That they bought now yes. Because it was not advertised that their efforts playing the market would be nerfed in future. Market 600 gear isn’t cheap… nobody’s pulling 10s of thousands of gold out of their ***. (Unless they did the same thing the hatchet exploiters did.)

It’s a trend that when you invalidate someone’s time, they take their ball and go home?
This is news to you?

(Yes, that IS why the other kids took their ball and left you on the field in grade school, in case you were wondering…)

Without the carebears this game would have sold not even 1/4 of what it did.
The initial game was a niche subgenre on an already niche genre, you think AGS is gonna make a game for 15 people?

Read the ā€œthanks for the 40$ā€ post. It truly states how MMOs normally develop. Carebears leave, hardcore players stay, take EVE online for example.

Carebears are quick cash, we are a steady cashflow.

So I have a question Mr. Hardcore super awesome professional MMO player?

I have leveled FOUR different characters beyond level 30. I’ve got level 100 in most of the trade skills. I leveled four different characters because I wanted to try out and get good at different committed weapons builds witih committed attribute boosts.

I’ve played a total of about 300 hours and I’ve gathered and crafted my behind off. I actually am one of those weird people who likes endless tree chopping and ore mining, etc. I also love the grind of hunting and skinning, general exploring to find stuff, etc. I’ve worked relentlessly in crafting to get four characters trade skills above 100.

Soon I’ll have four charcters to level 40 because I enjoy leveling in this game so much. I love the PVE combat and I think the recent changes to it are awesome, and it makes soloing fun, challening but not unfair. I’ve developed my skills to successfully navigate through PvE areas without mindlessly pulling ten mobs at a time. I actually play the game as if I’m in a genuinely dangerous area where I CAN’T just do whatever I want because I ā€œshould be able to get to level 50 by 5:00.ā€

I have zero interest in PvP, and I am in no rush to get to level 60 or the endgame content. I love the world and I love being immersed in it.

I’ve developed real skills with the different weapon sets in terms of being able to know how and when to use special attacks vs. regular attacks and when to dodge/parry, etc. There’s plenty of skill needed to do solo content in this game. You CANNOT simply spam left click your way through, because you will die. The stun and knockback mechanics prevent mindless left clicking, as opposed to a game like Skyrim, etc. where you are a total badass from level 1 and can kill ten enemies at a time.

SO…my question to you is - where does someone like ME fit into your damn categories??? Am I a ā€œcarebearā€ because I don’t obsess over GS and total and utter optimization? Am I a ā€œcasualā€ because I’m not at the end game grinding 600 GS for every slot?

Tell me, I want an answer. I’m sick of this. And I’m sick of players like you creating these confontational posts with neat categories for everybody where you call out peoples supposed lack of character and supposed lack of effort because they don’t play the game like you do!

Carebear is a mindset, not a behavior. If you for example can’t imagine a little grind for a system that will do the game good, for the sake of the game, not for the sake of yourself, then you are a carebear.

I’m saying with this post that I’m afraid that the divide caused by crying over lost watermark will make further problems for the game in the future, because that kind of division always sits badly with any playerbase, and causes a divide.

They have to do it pretty good to make sure that won’t happen. Lets get our fingers crossed.

Can already do that with greataxe.

Also it’s funny how this is what trigger your ā€œReee amazon are listening to carebearā€ meter but not when they changed the whole design of the game a year ago from a rust-like mmo into a pve themed one.

Bullshit. PvP players leave once they run out of people to bully.
PvE players stay for the story and group content with friends they bring or meet.

This ā€˜PvP players are superior’ dipshittery has to stop.

changing my review to not reccomended. Down with pay2win

Has nothing to do with pvp, but a certain mindset. Read my post above, 2-3 replies.
