Abnormally low FPS

I am getting less than 6 FPS in the menus and in game. FPS was normal during the initial cutscene but it was unplayable after the cutscene due to the extremely low FPS. I tried lowering everything to low and it did nothing. I’m running a 2700x with a 2070 super and 32gb DDR4 with the game on a SSD. Definitely more than “Recommended”. Temps didn’t go above the norm with other games that I play and nothing went over 60% usage.

Have also tried every troubleshooting step listed in the troubleshooting section.

I’m getting the same issue. Up until yesterday, I was consistently at around 100 FPS. Logged in today, and I’m hovering 7-20 FPS in menu and in game.

I tried dropping resolution down to 1080p (I was previously at 100fps on 1440p) and put all graphics settings to low. I went up to maybe 25 fps.

I’ve tried reinstalling the game, reinstalled my graphics driver, and restarted my PC.

GPU: 2080 Super
CPU: i7-9700k

GPU/CPU temps are below 60 degrees, with usage hovering between 40-60%.

Having the same issue. It starts right when game launches in the menu/server selection screen. I was getting 110 FPS yesterday, 8-12 fps today.

Intel(R) Core™ i7-10700KF CPU @ 3.80GHz 3.79 GHz, 32 GB Ram, Nvidia 3080.

Same happening with me today, the game was fine yesterday!
I was playing Riftbreaker all day today on max settings, then I go to play New World tonight and FPS only goes up to 10 in menu and in-game.

Have tried all troubleshooting steps too!

GPU: 2070 Super
CPU: i7-9700k
RAM: 16GB

Hi adventurers welcome to the forums,

I apologies for this issue, can you confirm if this happened after patch 1.0.2? or it happened suddenly from one day to another?

Regards!!

Yes it has only started happening after 1.0.2 for me.
Before that I was getting constant 60-80 FPS in and out of towns, and on very high settings.

Hi @rocksock15,

Thanks for the heads up, can you please provide your logs and DxDiag for further investigation:

Instructions for generating a DXdiag: Open and run DxDiag.exe

Instructions for finding the in-game logs:

  1. Press Windows+R on the keyboard, type %appdata% and press enter.
  2. Open the most recent file from this folder: /AppData/local/AGS/LogBackups.

Paste the content on a pastebin using http://pastebin.com/ and share it here.

Thanks

Thanks

Hi @rocksock15,

I sent this information to the Devs team, I will keep you posted of any updates, also, in the meantime if anything changes or you find a workaround please let us know!!

Regards!!

I’m having the same problem since the 1.0.2 patch, i was able to play normally until the patch but since 1.0.2 arrived i’m having massive fps drops, averaging between 5-10 with constant freezes, also cpu and memory usage are above %80, basically since the patch game is unplayable for me

Hi @WarriorCE

Have spent all day trying to figure this out!

Destiny 2 and a few other games were performing poorly also.
Final thing I tried was to restore my PC to a previous save 15/10/2021, this one was before the new DirectX11 update which I updated on 17/10/21.

I suspect it was this update that was throttling the GPU as this was when the issues started.

Current NVIDIA GPU driver version: 472.12
There is a new driver version (496.13) But I am holding off on that as it might have been this driver update too.

Thank you for your support!!

Having the same issue as well, last night game was working great, pulling 72fps average on max setting, and then today i barely hit 20fps. If it helps devs i play on a gaming laptop and normally once the game starts up my fans go high speed and loud, but now its like my gpu and cpu fans dont realize im playing a game, they work and i can manually set them to max but that is not helping the FPS. i have not installed any new gpu drivers.

Im having this same issue, and i dont know why it keeps happening.

i feel stupid figured out my laptop wasnt pluggin into power. lol fixed mine

@WarriorCE

I’m having the same issue in my Alienware 17 R4. Yesterday (17-10) I was playing normally with good amount of FPS, but now 6 fps on the initial menu.

I capture this image, something weird happening on the menu for me, it happened for while then disappear.

I am having the same issue. I believe it happened after the update. But I played in the morning and everything was fine. Then in the afternoon getting 7 FPS. Dropping settings and playing in a windowed mode at lower res helped a bit. I tried downgrading my GPU drivers but that did nothing.

I am running an older system, i7700k with 1080Ti and 32GB RAM. Before this I was getting ~50-60fps on max settings.

GeForce overlay is indicating I am only using 12-15% of my GPU during game play.

@ComplexPants

Try restoring your pc back before any updates were done. Mine had to go back to the 15th.

Control panel > system/security > security and maintenance

Click recovery > open system restore

Choose a different restore point > next > show more restore points

Click the first from top “automatic restore point”

Follow instructions

I can confirm I had a major frame issue when I logged in today. Was down to sub 9 fps when usually over 90 on full settings.

The problem resolved when I rolled back a Directx update installed today. I used the technique suggested by rocksock15 above.

I’ll try it when I get home. Thanks!
