Good evening/morning Everyone!
I am thoroughly enjoying New World. It has a Lot of potential as an MMO of a new breed and I Love not having a Tab-Target system. I applaud the crafting system 100% and I think this game is innovative in ways never before seen. It’s Very hard to post the good things about a game when you’re focused on the bad things, so I will preface this with a list of things I LOVE about New World.
Pro’s —
1: The leveling system is amazing. I love how you can fight mobs, Corruption, do Quests and Craft for XP. You even get XP while doing the Gathering, Mining, Skinning, Stonecutting etc. It’s extremely refreshing to see a system that doesn’t strictly rely on one form of level progression.
2: Tab-Targeted Combat: Obviously I love this. Many people do. I was an Archeage fan before it got extremely pay to win (It was always pay to win to be honest) but the Tab-Targeting was quite easy in their design. This offers a very different combat style and it’s Quite wonderful. (Almost like Conan: Exiles made an MMO that made sense, bat things included)
3: Aesthetics: The game is Beautiful. The Sound effects are wonderful and the world is truly brought to life through every aspect of the granular thought and decision. I eye-marked one spot at level 38 where a mob was leaning against a doorway… Truly, Absolutely wonderful. Also, the LOD system designed with Lumberyard; That’s insanely intelligent and barely noticeable.
So now off to the things I find that I do not like personally.
Con’s —
1: Mob Respawn Timers. Although I do understand the need for the timers to be Extremely fast during the earlier levels of the game, later in the game they become quite the hindrance. If you’re looking to mine ore or defeat a boss, you need a literal team to complete this mission. And while this is not commonly the case in certain contexts, it’s most definitely not normal for average solo players. When the Majority of your players feel this is an issue, then perhaps forcing cooperation is not the answer.
2: Well that’s about it. I was going to complain a bit about interactive weather to increase better atmospheres but that seems a stretch. While I don’t understand, I will leave that to you.
I have nothing else. That’s my single biggest complaint about the game. This whole long post was to complain about Respawn times but to also give credit where credit is very much due.
