Absolved(healing Life Staff talent) consumes mana

Eh, I managed to play through 25, 35 and 45 dungeons without trouble.

I really wanted a response from the devs about this, yesterday I realized this “bug” while doing a dungeon, and had to spam my mana potions…
I won’t lie, as a main healer, this made me quite sad…

Same, but nobody seems to be too worried. Everyone says to just switch off to a non-mana weapon to regen or just stop attacking, but the whole point of the Absolved talent is to heal and cure debuffs without impacting my mana. It needs to be fixed.

I agree completely, I don’t understand why people are not worried about it…
My play style is like use skills then spam light attacks to reduce the cooldown timers, but it’s impossible to play like that rn, except with lots and lots of mana potions for a simple task.
Anyways, I contacted customer support today and they said there was a ticket about this already, maybe yours.
Either way, I’m not gonna stop asking until the devs either fix it or say it’s intended.

Can multiple people report the same bug? Or should we keep adding comments here? I just discovered this during my first run of Amrine. It’s REALLY detrimental to the play style.

Based on patch notes. Doesn’t look like this got addressed in 1.0.2.

I noticed yesterday this, when I was doing the quest papa bear and running out of mana so quick, this shouldn’t be happening. Hopefully they fix it soon!

Unfortunately this bug seems to be known but no ETA on a fix. I find it odd, very detrimental to healers but should be super easy to fix.

Yeah, the higher level I get the longer my engagements are becoming and this is destroying my ability to heal without constantly chugging pots.

As long as they know about it we can probably avoid duplicate tickets. Since people can technically still heal I think they are going to view this as low priority no matter what.

It seems like it considers attacking as an interruption of the regen cycle. It can make you need potions but why have potions in the game if there’s no reason to ever use them because you never run out of mana popping off every skill as it cools down while also attacking?
If I were to guess it’s working as intended, you can regen faster or you can attack, but not both. That talent says it doesn’t cost mana, but it doesn’t say that attacking doesn’t interrupt regen. My mana never drops when I attack so I’d say again, it’s likely working as intended.
I find I was using 4-8 pots per dungeon run, not at all unreasonable depending on group. With some management of food, not attacking constantly, and frost gauntlet, I cut down on that a lot, and now that I’ve hit the 250 focus perk I only need 1-2 per run, at most, and that’s only on the boss. Don’t forget your mana regen food instead of health, and you can always encase yourself in ice while waiting on life skill cooldowns to fill up mana nice and fast.

Customer service already confirmed it’s a bug, and the reason is because it does consume mana. It consumes it and refunds it within a few frames, video I posted shows it clearly. This is also the only magic weapon that gets the option to have attacks not consume mana, it doesn’t affect any magic dps weapons so mana pots still have plenty of reason to exist.

I guess this bug has been promoted to a feature now…

Hate to be ‘that guy’, but this isn’t 100% true. Fire staff has a mastery skill, Flare, that makes “heavy attacks no longer consume mana”.

With that in mind, I’d be curious to hear from any Fire Staff users as to whether or not Flare suffers from the same bug as Absolved, with the mana cost being spent and then instantly refunded rather than being absent altogether as it should be.

Well, they nerfed the two skills under absolved, but didn’t fix the mana thing =)))))
