Brimstone update doesnt feel bad until you go to the acid pool areas with the abominations that stagger you every attack and the big lizards that have way too much health for how close they are together and also stagger and stun you with nearly every attack.
Tough mobs? cool.
Tough mobs there to specifically make the acid areas obnoxious and unplayable. Not cool.
The amount of damage the acid does in combination with really any other mob forces you to either stuff con or run a life staff. Otherwise youre popping potions on cooldown to try and keep up with the passive bleed.
This straight forces you to make the acid potions which I dont think is a bad thing. Except they dont really work. They should not only prevent the poison from killing you in under 2 seconds (decrease the damage taken from acid) but also slow the rate at which the acid is accumulated.
Pretty obvious none of them tried to playtest these areas because the entire zone feels pretty fun and good but as soon as the acid BS starts it makes me want to uninstall. Yet another imbalanced mechanic in the game simply due to lack of testing. What a shit spot to put on an otherwise good patch.
Edit: AGS very clearly doesnt even want to have balance discussions in their gameplay feedback section when they lock threads that have active discussion. If the intention is for everyone to make entire sets of armor for ONE specific type of damage in the wild (that is not relevant to any other place or instance in the game unlike ward gear), thats extremely unreasonable.
Unfortunate that AGS does not want feedback from their players though. With over 4000 hours in game I think I have some foundation to base my opinion on but they would rather only hear praise than criticism. Game cant get better without criticism, and even though this patch has loads of bugs and half of what they advertised (no changes to guild / war requirements which was the entire point of the update for any PVP players) everyone has been giving them tons of praise.
You can do better AGS. Listen to your players, its helps.
I havenât tried acid potion yet. Are you not basically immune to acid for ~2 minutes after drinking it? How is it different from corruption and blight, if you donât mind me asking?
Just drink a pot or get ya some heals. Not everything is meant to be easily achieved. Canât imagine how most of the people complaining about difficult of stuff here would have made it passed the Nintento era xD
It doesnt have to be easily achieved for it to be balanced. But if you are forced to stand in acid to collect elite supply chests and the acid kills players in the time it takes to loot an elite supply chest, that is extremely poor balancing and shows a lack of testing
Passive effects like that should not be instadeath for any build (with any amount of con) or even near how strong the acid currently is
I just use incense and it is fine. The grabbing mobs are annoying true. The reason why it is hard and should be hard because you have elite chests in the area.
The acid damage is % health based so the amount of con doesnât impact it. And theyâre are ways to deal with it, from the chitin plate to the potion.
You probably wont hold this opinion after you actually go into one of these areas but keep arguing for the sake of it
And at this point in the game no âeliteâ chests should be overly difficult to obtain, and especially not for arbitrary reasons (like not being able to collect them standing on top of the chest and out of the acid that again, kills you in the time it would take to collect the chest).
Make incense from furnishing - increases the resistance bar to 100. It basically doubles the time it takes to get burned.
The acid npcs are wicked though, and annoying as hell as melee. I like the challenge - but at the same time, hate how players can chain them onto others ><
Corruption Resistance armor perk gives +15 to the counter per piece.
Acid tincture gives +25
Infused incense gives +50
Chitin plate gems give +10 per gem, and most importantly, slow down the tick rate of the acid by 15% per gem. If you are going to be running sulfur pools for the chests, you gotta be prepared. Not being prepared day 1 isnt âstupidly overpoweredâ its simply not knowing the mechanics yet.
The monsters there are angry earth. Get angry earth ward suit, put your chitin gems in it, and murderhobo away. That area is not challenging once you learn how to do it.
The expectation is that you have to fight to get to it, or kill to get it. And the added difficulty of the poison, and hard mobs makes sense that they donât want people solo cheesing.
Thatâs why all the other elite chests in the game include snipers, and heavy bosses with stuns and things that make them difficult to solo. âSomeâ of them are cheesable. Some of them you can get someone to run off with them.
But they learned, and these you canât just do that, you need stuff and preferably a friend. Iâm all for it
Acid is so broken. The idea is cool, but the implementation is broken.
No idea why this was locked, seems like an overreaction unfortunately. There were some good talking points here, both for and against the current implementation.
That being said, I am frustrated with how on PTR the acid had some safe areas (dry land next to the pools) where now they dont, you get within a couple feet of a pool and you start taking damage. Also the fact that the acid tincture does not give much (if any) protection just feels broken.
Thought I should share more detail to my comment so it didnt just seem like blanket complaining, it was just made in frustration in the moment.
