Activities to get gear are death

The OP is on dry tree, which last peaked at 700 pop, and I think is merging tomorrow. Think pluto in June of last year. A lot of activities are slow at best and the market isn’t super well stocked.

I don’t understand why people want everything handed to them in an MMO these days. Do you just want some 5 minute quest that gives you a full gear set that lets you choose every attribute and perk as a reward?

If you were handed a full set of BiS gear tomorrow what would you do? What would you have to work towards?

Like everyone else you’d burn through all the game’s content and then complain till new content came out then rinse and repeat.

This was me 2 months ago.

Wait until you realize that there is no viable high end pvp gear from mutations. Wait until you realize you’re going to have to craft the gear you need. Then, after waiting to find all that out, wait until you find out that you’ll never be able to craft the gear you want.

All you end up doing is gambling with your personal time. Literally.

This game was designed by a troll.

Big agree. It’s ironic, because I’m pretty sure I’ve seen the exact opposite post on the forum – “All my gear is 625, there’s nothing to do now, I’m bored.”

MMOs need to give players something to keep working towards. Most of the time, that’s gear, though it can also be some form of “side progression” in the form of other skill points (Guild Wars 2 does this well). Otherwise, why would anyone keep playing if there was nothing to incentivize them to do so?

Now, the whole RNG aspect of endgame crafting is another (valid) issue altogether. However, getting to the endgame of any MMO and expecting no grind of some kind is pretty silly.

do normal dungeon or gathering for earn money to buy mutation set or run elit chest.
after that rank up ur faction to max then u can buy gypsum to boost ur umbral every day.

well that’s because there was supposed to be a pervasive player driven conflict system, but they nixed that to appease noisy, tab targeting, streamer skillets.

why do u want 3 perk pvp gear when u never done any activities?
u didnt grind mut, u didnt do opr alot, u didnt grind money to buy, u didnt grind prof to craft, u just want someone hand out u the bis gear for free?

and besides, u dont even need 3 perk gear to pvp, all u need is 2 perk resi+shirk fort and resi+wep perk
i have used all 2 perk gears with 600gs on lots of builds and doing very well in OPR.

this game is not like those tab targeting game where gear determines 90% of outcome.

this game, pvp skill determines 90% of outcome, where gear only give 10% factor to that outcome.
eg: a well timed dodge shapes the outcome than any bis gear combined.
and there are ppl that can be in naked and still win 1v1.

and i m telling u from my experience, save all ur time for grind gears, just practice and play pvp.
and in the end u will beat the others spend the time to grind gears in pvp for sure.

I get your point but i disagree as well.

Thing is, it is close to impossible to get a full BiS set in legitimate ways for pvp.

Unless you get EXTREMELY lucky with crafts or valuable drops you can sell there are people who have played since launch who still don’t have even one bis set.

Pvp is frustrating and unfun if your gear is bad because you feel like a wet fart trying to fight Godzilla.

On the other hand when you get bis or good gear pvp suddenly becomes really fun and you can relax and just play and enjoy the game instead of doing dreadful boring RNG grinds for hours every day.

I finally got a set I’m satisfied with and haven’t touched an expedition or chest run or farmed anything in months. I don’t even bother with my daily crafts like Asmodeum anymore.

It would be much better if pvp gear had a streamlined progression path. A pvp rank and a vendor that sells a variety of bis gear for every build.

Then leave the PvE gear for RNG progression and crafting. In the future when the game has raids. PvE gear will be more exciting.

But grinding for 6-7 months just to reach a point where you can actually compete against the bis players is not fun.

you are right here to 100%!

grinding for 6-7 month to even have a chance to compete against bis players is way to long and killing the Fun for all the new players that maybe will come to this game.

Dry tree is merging today so it should be easyer to find groups for content but grinding boring content over and over again just to have a chance is not rly fun for a lot of players and it has nothing to do with “people want to get everything for free”

People that telling you you dont need 625 or bis or close to bis gear are lieing in your face. It makes a differents if you run at 600 gs or 625 gearscore.

GW2 doesnt have much vertical progression. Most stuff is unlocking new skins and achievements. They provide lots of gameplay. Its not perfect, but like the OP, they dont need to do a lot of grinding to jump in and have fun in different areas.

Right, that’s pretty much what I was trying to say in my post. I think I even said word for word that Guild Wars 2 does side progression well. Horizontal progression, if you will.

GW2 is fairly unique among MMOs in that philosophy though, and always has been. Both GW1 and GW2 made it very easy to reach max level and get some form of very good endgame gear. Most MMOs are not like that. However, all MMOs need some form of continual endgame progression whether it is vertical, horizontal, or some combo of both. Players need something that they can keep working on, full stop. And, since New World isn’t doing the whole Guild Wars-style thing, it needs to keep traditional vertical progression (e.g. not just giving players gear because grinding is boring).

I would say the bugs and exploits did more damage to the persistent player driven conflict. In general people lost interest in trying to take territory after dupers made it impossible to take the territories off them once they got control.

Also as a long term gameplay loop trying to take a limited amount of territories with income balancing issues and the fact that people just want to T5 crafting stations in WW and EF meant people got bored quickly.

IMO territory conflict in its current state is a weak way to entice people to play the game long term even without all the issues it has. They could have had sub territories that give players extra PvP/territory conflict on a smaller scale by providing occupying companies benefits that help to prepare to take a larger territory as well as boosts to resource gathering, crafting farming certain enemies etc.

The way territories should be taken currently also need to be more interesting. Back to the drawing board. Running missions just isn’t interesting. I’ve always said they could have 3 forts (the same as OPR) placed around each territory and you get influence the same as an OPR match. You can upgrade the forts, summon beasts to defend.

I think there needs to be a way for opposing factions and companies to effect town refining and crafting stations to shift the benefits away from the occupying company and faction. Personally I think it makes more sense to have it that the more influence a faction has on a territory the more the benefits shift to them ie total amount of benefits are shared between factions based on the percentage of influence they currently have on the territory.

People will tell you that you have to suck it up and grind. The truth is you don’t.

Instead of grinding in NW, you can just opt to play a different MMORPG. This is something most people are oblivious to, including those that design absurdly grindy systems in 2023. In WoW, at max level, it takes 4 hours of doing bgs to get a full set of honor gear, which will put you on par with everyone else.

New World will never reward the time you put in the game!
You can save mats for 2 months ! You can save money for 2 months

and at the end…
You will loose it all cause like I said…they don’t reward the time you put in the game

I want to echo something already said…it needs to be understood. You can have fun and do pretty dang well in PvP with purple gear. I upgraded some epics with “good” perks and jumped into PvP. I have upgraded over the last year. I started with weapons…then jewelry…then armor (last because it took the longest to put together via TP/crafting).

You DO NOT have to sit on the sidelines until you have full 625 leggo gear. Nor will you be immediately owned by someone who does.

Of course the AH is empty, I myself have 2 actual BiS right now (free+shirk+resi for str melee refresh+shirk+resi dex ranged) and I’m never paying 9-15k + 16-24k of extortion to LIST an item for only 2 weeks, they may aswell sit in my bank forever.

To be honest I’m fed up with the taxes, imagine saying that about a game, well, that’s the point we’ve reached, more like “pizzo” established in this game.

So once in a while I post them on trade channel/discord

you need to go to aaru or barri.
dry tree is dead.
i changed few days ago ro aaru and dont regret it.
so many players from dry tree are there.

I have all my gear and there isn’t much happening for groups. Still always an M10 open selling spots though… That is what I call fun…

Oh really? Gear only gives 10 percent outcome?

Ok. Take off all your gear and go do some OPRs and 3v3s without any gear on.

Then come back and tell us how that worked out for you. :call_me_hand:t3:

whats wrong, 2 perk purple gear that u get like 5k each in TP with resi+shirkfort/wep perk at gs 600 is at about 90% of 3 perk bis function.
i have using it for months for many builds and all successful in OPR.
outcome is great.
