Add DPS/Healing Meter

Myself along with all of my group and I’m sure tons of other players would really appreciate a DPS/HPS meter so we can better fine tune our builds. This would allow us to see what is working best in encounters vs what isn’t. Thank You!!

This is a Common request over the last months at the Feedback Section of the Forums.

I’d love to have a combatlog for an external parser like ACT, but i’m against ingame DPS/HPS Meter because people tend to Tunnel vision only to get “dem deeeps”.

A combatlog and an external parser would even be more useful to fine tune our builds.
With a possible breakdown of every ability, amount of skills or auto Attack used, crit rate overall, crit rate of skills/autos, damage taken, damage mitigated, damage type dealt and so on and so forth.

Thanks for your suggestion regarding dps/healing meters. As Albyr, has said, this is a common hot topic that pops up on the forums every so often. We’ve been checking all feedback related to dps/healing meters.

You can read more about the feedback we collected in this thread: Damage meters please?

See I disagree with this. While yes it is an excellent idea and is super fine detailed, I want something on screen that is on demand real time feedback on what I am doing and is it working. I would venture to say the vast majority of people are not going to teach themselves to use a complex system like the one you displayed, even though it may be super easy it shows data from after the encounter instead of during.

please for the love of God at least add a chat box with a combat log that 100% of freaking MMOs do

I am NOT for a DPS meter but a chat box with a combat log is 100% required in a game when we play against other people.

Please NO damage meter, you have a few abilities, it’s very simple to see how much damage you’re doing in game and learn how to fine tune it by using your brain. Not staring at a Damage meter like all other MMOs and completely ignoring mechanics. Literally why i stopped playing wow because kids did nothing but talk about damage numbers and wonder why they wipe over and over on mythic.

Crowfall had crowbars. It would give you Dps and heal meters. Something this game badly needs. Also, we can prove or disprove when someone claims youre not doing enough dps. Which automatically seems to be the response when something doesnt go right in dungeons or pvp.

Wars and invasions already have cumulative damage meters, its part of the victory screen. We should have this for dungeons as well. People opposed to damage meters think it will ruin dungeons but it hasnt done this to war or invasions. People may brag on their damage results but its said consistently on my server that damage only tells one part of the story. Knowing will help teams improve!

I think its overdue and would be a big help for me personally to know if my weapon combo is pulling its weight. Personally Id like a live on screen damage meter but will be happy if we got an report at the end.

I’m a big fan of metrics.

BUT-

New World’s PvE doesn’t really justify it. If people are failing to kill something it’s pretty damn obvious 99.9% of the time.

ALSO-

If the game is moving in a direction where meters become important, than it’s clearly moving even further away from the few scraps of identity it has left.

Combat should be about player performance on a mechanical level first, and picking the right stats should be secondary.

The best guilds pushing for first review logs to better themselves.

In a game like this where choice matters a lot, logs could help point out what abilities need adjusting.

Just an anecdotal example:

I’m really into playing DPS, but if i do any group content, i first want to know who is the healer. Because of how threat works in this Game, healer tend to aggro ranged mobs and get pressured/Interrupted. So i volunteer to “peel” (CC, taunt or just aggro swap via damage Mobs off our Healer) because most of the time one DPS is enough to keep the healer save.

I either pull those Mobs back to the Tank or kill them on their Spot/spawn.

I’d rather sacrifice my Personal DPS as to risk wiping because the healer cant keep the Tank alive.

Other example would be a DPS that wont move/dodge/block because those would lower their dps, sucking up most of the available healing, leading to a stressed-out healer or a dead tank.

I  Metrics, but more so do i  in depth metrics which tell me the whole story of a fight or let me fine tune builds.

A simple DPS Meter wouldnt be suitable, because New World Combat is way more dynamic.

Combatlog+parser is all we need.

As well as DPS/Healing meters, I believe there should also be a damage absorption meter.
Tanks points etc in wars and oprs are so low, typically, in comparison. I feel like this is as important as healing and damage delt.

I wouldnt mind this if it was personal only and others dont see it. It can help better yourself but when its displayed to all it can also cause a lot of toxicity.

this leads to more of the same toxic behavior the game already has enough of. Just watch when 3v3 arena comes out.

There is already enough stats in opr and wars to get a good feel whos build is meta enough.

As chivalrous as your role is, there are plenty of healer in the PVE setting that need to learn proper dodge protocol and kiting. I heal all the time in dungeons and what I do is roll/kite circles around the melee/tank when acceptable I have 2 carnelians, one in my neck and one in my earring so it’s super simple to take aggro away from me, passive AoE does it. Not only that but I position myself in-between the tank and archer mobs whenever possible.

Granted not everything is that simple, but alot of the times it is. I’ve healed and dps’d high keys and the most common thing I see from healers is they just stand still and occasionally roll to keep their buffs up, or run around screaming like a headless chicken for someone to peel them, blaming tanks for them not being able to heal, as they’re running too much.

I have never played an easier game to kite PvE mobs in (or even pvp if you take rapier)

TL;DR I like your prerogative but light healers just need to learn how to manage their own aggro and how to drop it.

Also my opinion on the overall topic is, some people learn better through numbers. Numbers being the guiding line to find out how you can fine tune your kit and rotations.

On the other hand there are people who take it too far and act as if your dps numbers define you, even if you can outlive the #1 dps by a significant degree, it’s the people who live and breathe cutting edge content that are the problem, they gatekeep the entry points into higher risk content behind a number wall, only perfection may participate.

It’s hard to please everyone in this case. Combat logs will eventually evolve into third party software that can determine your best builds and damage output, that’s a boon and I think we could benefit from it. Dps meters however are dangerous to a community, especially with the barrier to cutting edge content already steep. (Cost of crafting gear/buying gear/looting rare drops/expertise/umbral shards)

Crowfall had an add on called crowbars. It was great, especially when you were trying to fine tune certain builds. Im not sure why some people are against it. Unless they do schitt damage or heals and dont want to be exposed.

DPS Meters PLEASE for the love of GOD! As a Tank I’m tired of being blamed for everything that goes wrong by mediocre dps that can’t kill anything. Would love to post the meters of their fail deeps when they start pointing fingers at me or the healer. And a Combat log would EVIDENCE that they stood in bad and died due to that, not from lack of heals. I’m sure the healers would love that. Please and thank you!
