Not necessarily, if you make the rerolling expensive like 5K gold / 5K umbral shards per try, trust me you’ll maybe not try to go for a 1% weapon perk that could leave you 500K gold/ 500K shards in the hole. It would have to be pretty expensive and then again, it would take a lot of coin out of the game and reduce inflation over time I think.
Also, I didn’t really state it in my original post but edited it, but when you reroll an item, it would be bound to you, meaning no reselling.
Actual 3/3 bis gear can go well over a million coin for some weapons/armor pieces. How is that “easy to get” for the average player? You could reply that “they could craft it” but so does everyone, yet the market value for those items is what it is, because the chances to get an actual 3/3 god roll are pretty abysmal.
I dont understand how so many voices can say expertise killed the game and then the same voice cry about reducing the randomness of the rng loot system. Good loot systems have a fixed grind where you farm named items from specific sources. Gear is WAY too random in how its generated.
Potential bis, as in 2 bis legendaries? I mean every updates some players see some items lose or gain value, I don’t think that’s a reason not to push an update if it benefits the players overall. You can and still will be able to acquire legendaries via dungeons/crafting etc and there is no shortage of 2 bis ones with like resil/shirking/corrupted ward to reroll. The fact is, rerolling would have to be very expensive to make it a good money sink which the game lacks atm.
As for the prices of 3/3 bis gear some weapons do sell for a million + I was looking at a bis life staff the other day on a trading discord that had a current offer of 1 million (pic below). How is that obtainable for the average joe ?
This is a fallacy that you can have a wealth of builds or diversity in a mmo. This was tried long ago by many mmos and they all realized that there will be one build, and perk combination that performs higher than all others. The richest and most active players will all go for that perk and armor setup, as they have the means to obtain it. Giving everyone the ability to retool the perks on their gear is nonsense and would destroy the game.
If you run 20 M10 mutations a week, play lots of OPR, and complete your PVP track, you will end up getting full BIS. I have gotten multiple BIS items from mutations.
This is not even paired with the fact that you can farm your legendary mats everyday and roll items once every few weeks, these rolls get way more BIS than they used to. You can also get legendaries and BIS items from gypsum casts at a much higher clip. This stuff isn’t unobtainable anymore, I actually can’t believe people are complaining at the moment.
Also the difference between 3 perk BIS and 2 perm BIS is not some massive difference that can’t be overcome.
So your argument here is that everyone can’t have the absolute best items in the game easily? The idea you need that life staff or lots of people have it is laughable.
Realistically they wouldn’t and nor should they. The average Joe really has no need for best in slot items. Your average joe is comfortable and does fine with 1 or 2 good perks and enjoys the game leasurly. A BIS item isn’t an item for your average joe. It’s like being a worker at mcdonalds and complaining you can’t afford a ferrari. The very best and rarest gear is always reserved for the most dedicated players. It just so happens in this game those items can be traded in most games they cant be.

You don’t need it for sure, but when competing against top companies/players who can afford them, it does make a difference. And this is coming from a player who has 3 bis gear and spent upwards of 1.5M on their gear.
@Sonickat
I don’t buy the “Average Joe” comment.

You don’t really get my point with that comment. I’ve bought bis gear for more than gold cap without batting an eye, but I know 99% of players can’t really do that. It would be healthier for PvP if 3 perk PvP gear was easier to obtain and lessen the gap between companies competing in wars. Now I know you don’t need 3 bis gear to enjoy the game, but when you compete vs good players who outgear you, it does make a difference. A resil + weapon perk + shirking fortification 3 perk piece is vastly superior to a resil + weapon perk 2 perk, even more so if you multiply that by the 10 armor/weapon slots. And btw I am full 3 bis perk player talking about this issue, when the current situation is in my favor.
I think the best way to solve this is just allow us to change the attribute of the item (non named item) to whichever we like. No perks changing, just attribute, like the commander armor from the vendor. This should result in a bound to player armor though, so no selling for profit. Would get rid of a lot of rng
@madGigachad
LOL that would break the entire market.
Not really, would you rather spend 200K on an bis 3/3 item or spend an unknown amount with rerolls (shards+coins) to try and get your 3 bis from a 2 bis legendary? Also rerolling would bind those items to you much like upgrading gear. Prices would drop for sure but is that a bad thing?
I stand by my original statement I understood you loud and clear. I don’t think the genre’s goal with two players separated by gear and skill is that there be a balance between them head to head. I have to say “Working as Intended”. I know that may frustrate some PVP players but this game is an MMORPG genre not a lobby pvp game. It’s not about a fair balanced fight regardless of other factors. Players chose to play these games because there is a gear progression and over time you can earn powerful advantages over others. These games provide a longer fail to power system due to giving even losers rewards. I could see the arguments if you had to win for rewards but you don’t and there are many avenues to powering up to be competitive. The underlying reason for complaining I hear is they don’t want to grind to power up they just want to walk in the door and be competitive.
Those folks are playing the wrong genre of online game.
If that’s what you want you really wanna be in a game where everyone plays from a template and each match is a fresh equal start.
PVP in an MMORPG is not balanced around having fair balance each match. All the matches you’ve done in the past accumulate into being more powerful in the next than you were before. Everyone gets that opportunity and that is where the fairness comes in the deck is stacked against new players but you aren’t always going to be a new player and the longer you play you eventually gain that advantage too.
