Adjustment in "Defiant Stance"

This is a main skill for every tank, it’s just amazing, it’s basically what really increases our tanking ability. However, it lasts very little and has a very long CD (one of the biggest CDs in the game). A better way to balance it would be to keep a ratio of the duration to be 50% of the cd time (eg duration 20s/cd 40s).

I particularly think that a duration as long as 20 seconds could be excessive. So my suggestion would be a duration of 10s with a CD of 20s, seems fairer.

I really think this skill could provide grit during its effect, but I also don’t want to create another op skill like GW here. Just adjusting its duration/CD would be amazing!

I’m all for the Grit part, either that or shorten the animation time.

the animation time is really excessive

Adding grit to the cast animation makes sense

the skill already has grit during the animation, the problem is that the animation is so long that eventually some stun hits you, especially in the clump.

honestly, due to the way skill tree is and how 300 Con is the cap in perks, it’s a bit annoying in trying to balance this game. Any other game has a dedicated Tank tree which couldn’t be accessed by other branches (Rogue, Marksman, Healer, etc.) and if New World did have this style of skill tree, this would’ve been an easy fix of just simply adding at one of the end branches “When Defiant Stance is being activated and active, gain immunity to CC effects”.

I agree that the fact that the game doesn’t have classes can make balancing very difficult, so I try to propose suggestions that don’t tend to be OP, but that still allow the tank to have some advantage. But I agree with you, balance in this game is actually quite a complicated issue.

In Beta, Invigorating Bulwark use to give +10% hp while on the sword and shield bar. I think this should be brought back as a means to justify going heavy into constitution.

In pvp, casting defiant stance tends to get me killed more than it helps. The only time defiant stance works out is if I use it before engaging.
If I need to use it while I’m in a pack, I find using leaping strike to get out and heal up, then defiant stance to get back in to be better.

So yes, I love the idea of having a higher uptime, or, at the very least, shortening the cast time for the skill!

actually this is a common problem in tank skills, the animation time is VERY long, which interferes a lot with our game play.

The only skills that have fast animation are shield bash and leaping strike, the rest takes a long time.

Not to mention the shield rush, which in addition to taking a while, still takes a small step back before advancing (totally unnecessary)
