So I have just Recently started, about a week ago. I would like opinions:
Should I stay on the server I’m on or would a fresh start server be more beneficial, for a completely new player?
I only ask because when I got interested in playing more I heard about the fresh start servers being a possibility, checked the forums and there seems to be some dispute as to whether they are good or a detriment.
For transparency I’m mainly interested in pvp. I played Eso from about 2017 till a few months ago. I play on El dorado currently.
what are the pros and cons I would be facing depending on what I choose? or would it not matter at all?
I won’t look at anything like it’s bad advice, I just want to make an informed decision.
I ask that you try not to argue with each other, just want some vet perspective on where they feel I would have the best experience.

If you haven’t played much yet, I think fresh start is probably the best option to start at a relatively level playing field with others. Though there will be vets who reroll and already know everything, everyone will still have to grind for weeks to get to where established servers are today.
I’m not sure it’ll matter too much, they’re allowing transfers so there will be plenty of established companies and players the instant the server opens. I guess if you haven’t played the game at all, then maybe a fresh start might be the way to go…who knows…but if you’ve already started playing, I wouldn’t go out of my way to roll on a new server unless the server you’re on has bad queues.
Legacy for sure - the economies are already established and all the low level materials are going to be nice and cheap for you to start working on your crafting, if you so please.
You will be able to find purple and legendary items on the TP for very cheap because the market is so saturated right now - gearing wont be an issue.
Finding groups will be very easy, there’s multiple world tours or “zergs” “chest runs” every evening. A lot of players running 5 man dungeons who have experience, this will be beneficial to you while you are learning mechanics.
This too, by the time they come out you will already be 60, in a company, doing end game stuff.
If you want to level quickly and be competitive faster, legacy servers. They have cheap materials for townboards and leveling professions. Also, they have the best players who are up to date on the meta.
Fresh start servers are more about nostalgia and getting a second shot at owning territory for the perpetual victims who play this game. If you actually want a good gaming experience instead of being part of a social experiment you are better off on legacy.
If you like drama and are following a streamer - fresh start.
Fresh start is quite literally a race with the purpose of being a race - 95% of people on legacy are already 60 and enjoying the community that exists there.
I think you might be trolling and this person is just trying to have the best experience. Not a good look.
thanks all! i didn’t realize the fresh start was so far away on the time line. great advice on both sides. i’m just gonna keep playing as is and see where i’m at when they drop.

Not trolling at all. Fresh start servers are generally full of either new people or experienced people that want a “fresh start” so it’s generally a more fun experience.
You just dont like that i wrote it. If you cant even be on the same server as people with better gear, you are operating with a victim mentality.
What did the bis geared players do to you other than play the game better?
“Experience people who want a fresh start” - You mean the people who are good but too toxic to slot in a war? They sound friendly!
I personally know some experienced players who cant wait to fresh start. Why? Because they want to grief new players and take over the server while making a bunch of money selling to noobs on g2g.
