I don’t have a gripe about the expertise system as a “system” but I tracked two chest runs now and this is just wrong. First run yesterday:
27 elite chests 4 had expertise for my gear, 2 weapons I had equipped. Rest nothing
Just now: 25 chests 3 expertise for my gear, 2 for weapons equipped.
I will NEVER, EVER use a shield, spear (3 bumps on that tonight) and on and on. The system would make FAR more sense if the expertise applied to your gear and weapons as equipped. This is so frustrating.

I’m not saying you’re wrong. This is just to say thank goodness it’s gotten a bit better. Perhaps they will add more elements aside from gypsum and chests.
And what you’re experiencing isn’t even new with the Expertise system. Those painful chest runs have been around for awhile. At least the gypsum system let’s us finally choose at least some of the items we want to boost.
Imagine having to run chest run after chest run with almost no alternatives.

Remember when you had to run Forecastle Drift and farm the 3 siren mini bosses for hours and hours?
Maybe hit 1 bump every 30 minutes. Oh and that’s with you getting bag drops competing with 30+ other people
You are increasing your Exp by the least effective method OP.

NO, never did that! 
I understand that, isn’t that the point of my post…it is so inefficient because of the wasted expertise that goes to unequipped weapons that is irritating!
I know they have been around…just a real mistake on their part imho.
