There is no “silver bullet solution” to the issue.
If people think that the free transfers are going to be a silver bullet, guess again. Many people won’t take them because they will be afraid to be marooned on a low pop server long term, so there will be a big “game of chicken” on the high pop servers to see who blinks first in terms of leaving. Plenty of players will decide to stay with a queue rather than take the risk of being stuck on a low pop server and in a few months being offered a paid (not free) transfer later. It will help, of course, because some people will transfer, and that will relieve some pressure from the queues, but it won’t “solve the issue”.
Same with restrictions of new character, same with AFK tightening. None of it is “THE SOLUTION”, but they all help a bit to lessen the problem.
There is no SOLUTION, in the grand scheme, because the problem is that too many players want to play on very high pop realms, and that will not change with the transfers.
Thankfully, we know from other MMOs that the real solution to the problem is … time. With the passage of time, people will return to normal life schedules, and normal play schedules, including playing other games (yes, that means few players of this one lol, at least fewer at the same exact time like there is now), and the queues will fade. Other measures all help take off the pressure, but the only real “fix” is the passage of time.
How exactly is it not sold as offered? (weird way of putting it) all mmo launches have queues. If you bought this thinking otherwise when it is down to you.
I’ve never queued for a single MMO in my 39 year life and I’ve played:
RuneScape
World of Warcraft
Star Wars
Lord of the Rings Online
Rift
Guild Wars (1 &2)
I’ve NEVER had to queue to get into any of those games servers. So either I’ve been hyper lucky, or there is something massively wrong.
Not sold as advertised; I can’t play the game. It was sold as a game, but I can’t play that game. So it’s not sold as advertised. I have spent more time queuing than actual game time. How is that a “Game”? Do I do anything when queuing? Nope, I sit and wait. As my OP states, I don’t have the time to no life it.
You just got lucky, it was well known in each of those, wow especially. Just because one person is lucky does not mean the problem does not exist sadly.
I doubt they’ve banned anyone yet, not if I read that post and have a basic understanding of English
I doubt they’ve even rolled out the enhanced AFK detection yet, by what I read in a post made less than 10 hours ago.
Queues are, even without this issue being addressed, getting shorter naturally. If you think you’re eligible for a refund, go get that refund and move on. You will literally be helping those of us who enjoy the game play it more in doing so and we will be grateful to you for it.
In less than a month, no one will be using macros to stay online. No one will even care about this topic. Perhaps then you can buy the game again? Or not. Because I don’t think you actually want a refund.
I do want a refund. However I want a refund and to prove a point. This is about profit for them. We need to impact their pockets to make them fix the issue. If we don’t do that then they’ll drag their feet in the hope that time resolves the issue.
the queue times are super long because almost no one is logging out, naturally the queue times won’t disappear because of this, but they will definetly get shorter.
also, it’s not that easy to change the netcode of a game to support more players, while you may be right in saying amazon should have wrote the code better in the first place, we live in a reality where they didn’t, so this is a good solution for now.
Ok then go do it and move on. Point made. And, as I said, you’ll help others get into the game by making the queues shorter.
If you want to play the game and want to help with suggestions, that’s another matter. You don’t. So go get that refund. Your server will thank you for it.
Come back when this has all gone away (and it will do).
I think AFK kicking dont work. I play during night and i can see many runing into the wall. For whole night 6-8 hours… During first days i was in 3000 queue for 1h. Now 900 is 2h of waiting. Servers are small and 1/4 are AFK players who prevent other to play. They just shrink servers capacity.
For a 39 year old you sure are acting like an child. Your time is no more valuable that anyone else’s. I hope you are teaching your own better.
As far as using the excuse about your company to not reroll, refunding the game isn’t going to do much to help them. What would help them is creating a character on a different server and then transferring when things die down.
I’m pretty sure auto run into a wall isn’t enough (and has been tested plenty and reported as not enough) to fool the system, even before these changes come in. I doubt that same player auto running is there for 8 hours, unless they’ve added something else in to a macro to prevent detection (and if so, why make it obvious by using auto run at all?)
You’re likely just seeing different players trying it on. Or some that are dumb enough to go to the effort of adding a macro yet make themselves stick out like sore thumbs for reporting by using auto run.
Either way, the issue will naturally go away over time and as AGS add better detection (I mean, it’s not too difficult to detect if a player remains relatively static over a long period of time, even if there is input, and most automation will eventually result in a character getting stuck or not moving far).
The thing is, the need for macros will also die down over time. Probably on a curve that’s accelerating further away from the need for AGS to actually ban anyone for abusing it. Because queues are going down naturally as fewer people play the game or move to new servers. This is the FOTM topic and will be gone in a month or two.
Oh I don’t want pity, I just want a solution. I paid premium for a game I cannot play. Most other games companies would be passing bricks by now. However it’s AGS, they have Bezos wallets and don’t care. It’s depressing.
Buying a product and not being able to use it because its faulty is a company’s fault.
IRL schedules are no one’s business, if someone buys a game to play 2h a day, they should be able to, if the company cant deliver a working product they have to fix it.
I agree that afk kicking does not solve anything. First time I got kicked, during my lunch break. I am over a 4h queue, and still have 1k+ players ahead of me.
The game is amazing, plays ok, but I actually thought Amazon would make some kind of progress regarding servers and massive multiplayer tech (multiple servers acting as one big massive server).
“Food for the brain”: Star Citizen uses “similar” tech as New World, and SC still has servers of 40ish players! Their supposed “server sharding” is nowhere to be seen. Maybe there is a trend here…
When you buy an online game, you also know that there will come times when you cannot play even though you want to, for various reasons. It’s unreasonable to expect 100% up-time on any game that predominantly works online.
Combined with the fact that it is released week, anyone who has been around MMOs know that release week is unstable as all hell. The developers are working to resolve the issue, but it takes time.
All this que talkings and afk makes me laught posts are turning very meme, someone waits, someone afk, long ques refund. Give devs some time ppl get lvl cap pop goes bit down everything takes time to stabilize.
