finde den beitrag vom ami forum am besten dazu viel spass beim lesen er ist grossartig .
der schuldige ist nämlich …
I’ll talk about my own experience, and not hide behind some either people who have disabilities or the fear of being spyied on…
I’ve played since beta, and started the game on day 1… But here’s the thing : got a job, got a wife, got 4 kids (ranging from 4yo to 9yo)… So I cannot play just everyday and every hour.
The day after the 28th, I could not play at night… because of queues.
The 30th, I could not play at night… because of queues.
The 1st, on Friday, I had my day free, so I could play all day long, and I knew I could also play on Saturday, but not on Sunday… So I logged on early on Friday, could play all day long, and quit the game on that Friday to Saturday night.
Then logged in Saturday, without too much difficulties, it was in the morning (here in EU).
Then quit the game to care for the kids on the afternoon.
Could not play at night… because of queues.
Tried playing Sunday afternoon… could not play… because of the queues.
IF I ever had a disconnection issue, could not reconnect outright because of the queues (had to wait once 3h)
So… Yeah, had to use said afk’ing methods to avoid being disconnected due to inactivity while I was pooping, caring the kids, taking the kids off of school, or whatever reason… Yeah, I admit it… So WHAT ? blame me… I want to play the game I PAYED for… Amazon have the biggest datacenter of all game studios and developpers worldwide, they knew the number of pple who would play (from sales figures) but they DECIDED deliberately to put too few servers, with too few people able to enter one server at a time (yeah it’s wise not to have a too big server to handle, stability-wise and other). But reading their posts concerning the fact they “more than doubled the amount of servers, increased server capacity…” That tells us a lot on what was really going on.
So my take here is this: stop blaming the customer, start blaming the one who didn’t want to invest too much at day 1 on the servers, just in case the game would flop!
The saw it wasn’t a flop, quite on the contrary, it’s a success, and frankly it’s well desserved! But now, they’ve begun doing things on the server sides, I, for one, think many afk’ers (just like me) won’t need to continue doing so… But stop blaming all the afk’ers… If I have a spare night I could play but BANG 3 or 4hours of queuing prevents me from doing so and I know this is just BECAUSE (the root cause of the problem) AGS didn’t put up enough servers right from the start…
I played MMO’s since Meridian 59… Played Ultima Online, played DAOC, played WoW, played a hell of a lot of other names I couldn’t remember right now! And none were half as bad at week 1 than New World, I’m afraid. Of course there has been issues (Blizzard’s auth. servers doing the exact same thing, but I didn’t recall having to wait for a whole 4 hours straight to log in to any Blizz’ game whatsoever).
So please stop complaining about afk’ers… Let’s just hope that AGS’s work on servers will suffice… But for me, this whole ‘afk prevention’ is a witches’ hunt at best.
It’s like blaming all the world’s pollution to the consumer when states clearly turn a blind eye to the industrial sectors!
Anyway, sorry for the long post and rant, but I had to put my two cents into it, I understand the frustration, but turn to the right responsibles to claim your rights.
Servers should have been what they’re going to be WAAAAAY sooner, but money talked, period.
