The weapon xp mechanic is just a barrier to entry. It should be removed all together or weapons need to level up faster through normal gameplay. The weapon mastery system feels useless and not rewarding. Why not make oprs and expeditions reward weapon xp on completion instead of creating a weekend of mob farms?

In general one double XP weekend would be nice overall, so low level players can get 60 until seasons come out

With the BPs you will able to get boosters for rewards. I think this is better cause you can control when you get your boosts. As with an event, you have to schedule around the event

I would love to see them make actual rewards for weapon xp or event instead of weekend xp for sure but right now they are probably pressed for time thats why I suggested it.

I agree the weapon leveling system is messed up, if you try to let it happen naturally it takes forever to cap, the alternative is kill 5000 low level mobs which isnt great either.

The OP is just looking for weapon mastery xp. Probably one of the many bruisers that have never picked up a magic weapon are now trying to level firestaff before the new patch hits lol
