For sure. The biggest issue is Pillar and Fireball don’t combo well together because of the different aiming mechanisms. Fireball you have to generally aim slightly up to account for gravity. You also have to account for travel time. Pillar then forces you to whip your cursor down and aim at a small area on the ground and have to account for the enemies movement but no travel time, just a slight wind up. Then move your cursor to the center to try and combo in a light attack. None of this is fluid and the timing is incredibly awkward on everything.
Give me a good grav/shockwave/maelstrom wombo but for FS pelase.
I played as a mage for the first 10 months of the game, switched to maining rapier a paring it with various weapos (hatchet, spear, bow, SnS and BB) right now im playing rapier/GS.
Don’t think i will ever go back to a magic weapon if they don’t get any attention from the devs.
@RequiemDosVivos I hate to break it to you. But AGS in a round-about-way is phasing out magical playstyles from their game. Going forward, I expect even more nerfs to magical playstyles to the point no one plays them. If no one use them, then they don’t exist, right?
Lucky for mages, where New World discriminate against them. Other MMOs embraces them. Maybe play an MMO that embrace your playstyle. New World is exclusively only embracing physical playstyles.
I bet AGS wish they never added magical weapon to the game in the first place. But since they can’t walk back that decision. They’ll make it highly unfavorable to use.
I warned about this before patch, we ran simulation on how auto attack snare would work. It almost a free perk for melee without needing to spec into snares. Furthermore, we in our testing we found with right perks GS can be more mobile than rapier. And last the all changes to FS where nerfs except the empower stacking which was justified. That was lame game play and now because of it meteor is lame again. Moreover, the extreme gear drop discrepancy is killing mage builds now requiring All bis to be crafted. To be quite frank, not many guilds will help mages gear to just be sub optimal.
So why I don’t believe AGS is killing the class on purpose. They nonetheless killing it from lack of knowledge on how the class works.
nothing new to me, i can cast a second ice storm before the first ceases - even before this patch - but I appreciate the effort, good job nice content. Btw im using refreshing moves, critical damage and entomb on IG.
Yea nice video but that possible even before patch problem is in pvp you hardly able to get that off. Maybe once when everything is off cd but once you start moving it throw off all cds.
Having swapped to sword & shield , greatsword after writing this thread I easily crunch through any mage with ease. As the greatsword tracking and reach distance is truly a breeze. Still zero mention of mages being awful. All the magical weapon trees need an overhaul with new more RELEVANTLY useful nodes being added. For example great axe gravity well provides like 5 different bonuses to them.
