AGS continues to show how out of touch they are

This post is in response to the Umbral Shards addition.

tl;dr AGS is focusing on the wrong type of content to add. Not this forced grind non-sense with Umbral Shards. Actual meaningful content such as balance patches, fixing the dictionary-sized list of bugs, adding new weapons, and more. Shards also only benefits the territory owners that actually do have 600 GS BiS items. Those with 599 and below are f***'d.

As others have said, I am absolutely not a fan of yet another forced grind pushed just 3 months into this game.

You just introduced the Expertise system which I bet many haven’t even achieved 590 yet especially Jewelry (I personally have, but I sweat the fuck out of this game and have endless free time).

Not only that, you made obsolete anything not 600, and this is speaking as someone that is currently 600 BiS in the majority of my main PVP loadout as a medium mage. This system absolutely screws over 95% of the population that likely are already behind, or aren’t territory owners that already have BiS 600 GS.

In our server, the WW/EF/BW owners all have maxed out 600 GS BiS, considering they pull in at least 2M a week. They are already so far ahead of literally everyone on the server. This system I can only imagine benefits them, and further pulls them ahead even more. How is this fair for the hardcore-but-not-territory-owners let alone casuals? What the hell? And I’m in the same faction as these guys.

I know our feedback likely won’t be taken into account to just like the majority of PTR feedback in the past. But I had to write this. Do you really think more grind is going to bring more players back? Hell no. New meaningful content will. Fixing major bugs such as the movement bug that has been reported for over two months. Fixing weapon swapping. Balancing weapons. Everything that actually is meaningful.

NW does not need additional force grind at the final 0.05%. This Umbral system only benefits the territory owners that are already so damn far ahead of anyone in every conceivable way.

If you do implement, doing it just for dungeons/crafting seems… counterintuitive considering 625 GS benefits PVP the most. Why do PVP activities, you know, the core philosophy of New World, not get shards? This is so backwards and not very clearly thought out.

While I welcome new content, this seems like an incredibly lazy way to add new content. Adding another currency and another timer thing to remember is so silly. Give us MEANINGFUL content. Fix the laundry list of bugs. Not any of this forced grind garbage.

You guys seem to take one step forward (like the previous patch) and then two steps back with really confusing roadmap decisions like this. Wishy washy stuff like this only continues to undermine our confidence in your development and vision for this game.

You said you were going to slow down on the patches to increase quality. Okay, fine. But not like this. This is not quality. This is garbage!

You made a good point about the territory ownership and gear.
RMT is going to be throughout the roof, people buying gold and items so they can upgrade later. Sad.

Just a Major Purge on Bots would be a good start.

They say a lot of things to appease players but at this point there’s no reason to believe any of it. 50 days ago they introduced massive desync into the game along with the movement speed bug. Combat feels worse than ever but we’re about to get yet another major update without a fix to any of this (or even an acknowledgment that they’re aware of and trying to fix these problems).

If anything they’ve become even more brazen about letting terrible bugs linger while shoving awful “content” updates down our throats.

Over a month ago they said they wanted to improve weapon swapping and combat responsiveness. The UI still frequently displays the wrong weapon equipped, swapping between gauntlet weapons is still super janky, and the last patch made combat even clunkier by extending the window in which you can queue commands (along with other fun bugs like activating abilities randomly slowing your character for some reason).

About two months ago they said they would look into extremely low drop rates of items like the Weaponsmith Pants. That never happened. They won’t even tell us why weaponsmithing only has one set of gear while all other tradeskills get two.

Back in October they made a big PvP blog post that promised all kinds of great changes such as forced PvP areas and player kills dropping gear above 500-505 GS. None of that actually happened either, except for the flagging luck bonuses which were immediately obsoleted by the aptitude system.

Bump

So you have to make a decision now. Either continue being angry and support the game. Or just leave for much greener pastures.

Though alpha/beta testing this is how its been, one step forward… three steps back.
