Did I say that? Why no, no I did not. I said Felurian should be permabanned for exploiting that bug. No one accidently acquires 3 of each level of a specific crafting trophy and says “Oh gee, well you know I’m just going to hang all 9 of these, equip my crafting gear, go burn a bunch of high-end mats, and then just see what happens.” If you think they do I have several bridges to sell you.
Now do I think anyone exploiting mechanics like this and item duping should be permabanned? Yes I do. Do I think all ToS violations should result in permabans? No I don’t.
Prasinos333 whole form of communication is spreading misinformation and quoting things incorrectly to fit his argument if you disagree with him. It’s just a waste of time to try and have any conversation with him.
I hear you man and that sucks, but only losing two items compared to what could have happened. Part of it means you got screwed, but on the other side of the coin you got lucky.
It depends on how it’s used. Permanent for all cases? That seems pretty black and white to me. I’m sure its a world you’d love to live in to make things simple but that’s far from reality.
Yeah true, i just feel more for the people that bought the BIS items and got MEGA shafted and more than likely nothing will be done to rewrite their loss.
Part of me agrees with you. If you lost valuable items that were earned legit and kept trash items, that’s just brutal.
I know Amazon is far from perfect, I’m not saying they haven’t made mistakes, just that this ban wave was needed. There are so many things they could do better, but now I think people will consider whether the reward is worth the risk.
Agreed, this isn’t just on the people that abused this. This is Amazon’s failure too. It should have never been possible, and they should have taken harsher methods earlier. If this trend continued for another year, you might have found me doing any and every exploit because at that point I would have given up believing that they cared.
It is indeed. Most things are grey, some things are black and white. Of course, each of us needs to make that determination for themselves. To me, exploiters like this and exploiters who dupe should be permabanned. Period. No mitigating circumstances. Banned. Account is gone. The end.
It’s reality if AGS makes the decision to permaban all players doing it. It’s neither complicated or difficult. I’m sorry you’re struggling with it, though.
That is a very primitive mindset. You’re saying that anyone who crafted gear while having more trophy bonuses than intended (even though there is little clarification in-game as to how trophy bonuses work) should be permanently banned. This causes plenty of edge cases of those who didn’t do it maliciously. But you can’t imagine that.
Also, there are those who didn’t exploit it but rather just bought the items that were produced through the exploit. This is most of my point here. They didn’t ban the correct players and didn’t properly reverse the damage done while removing items that weren’t created through this exploit.
This situation is completely different from duping. Duping is universal and anyone who engages in it knows that it is a bannable offense. A bug allowing players to craft gear at higher than intended rates is more in a grey space but here you are saying that it’s black and white.
Even if they did do it maliciously, to be permanently banned for a first offense is ridiculous. You have two options:
Permanent Ban
Temp Ban with items removed.
If you permanently ban them then all they will do is make another account. This causes them to value their character even less and be more prone to repeat the same offense. Or they quit the game entirely after trying to go through a terrible appeal process.
If you temporarily ban them and remove the items then it’s a win-win. You can keep track of them. There is no effect on other players. They’re less likely to re-offend and if they do you can increase the punishment.
Another previous exploit that plenty of players engaged in was spawning the first boss of Garden of Genesis twice. This was before tuning orbs were removed and coin rewards were nerfed. Do you just ban everyone who benefited from extra coin regardless? Would you still be defending AGS if they banned players who didn’t even benefit but just ran the normally? Would you still be defending them if those who did exploit had more coin removed than what they gained and drops that didn’t even come from the boss removed?
Seem’s like you’re struggling to understand while being condescending.
And I said nothing about them being banned, in fact I would - unless (like some moron on the forums) they specifically said “I knowingly bought exploit-crafted gear” - not penalize them beyond taking that gear away.
You’re right, no - I can’t imagine anyone stacking 9 armoring trophies in their 3 houses accidently.
Ok, call me primitive. I don’t see that as an insult on this topic.
You think a temp ban will encourage people to follow the rules next time, I don’t.
Studies on recidivism say otherwise.
I understand your position completely - I simply reject it.
Not accidentally. Show me where in the game it states how many trophies you can stack in a house.
Yes. All a permanent ban does is have them buy another account either through steam or third-party.
Link them then. Cause there are plenty of games that work this way.
You reject that players are having incorrect items removed? You believe AGS is doing a good job at banning the correct players for the proper amount of time and reversing the damage done? Where?
It seems like you’re personally upset and have some biases against those who did participate in this exploit. Ultimately, it’s not much different from any other exploits in the game in which you probably participated in one. It’s very common on the forums for players to be more upset and advocate for more harsh punishments for exploits that they themselves weren’t able to participate in.
This, and it’s always said that you can have more than 1 of this item (or something similar) when you try to stack the same trophy in one house…except for after that specific update.
It was an exploit that ultimately potentially harmed the game play of others, by messing with the economy.
Should have been a perm ban, for ANYONE that put different tiers of the same trophy in the same house.
It’s a no brainer that it was a bug.
I do empathize for anyone that lost stuff that had nothing to do with the bug.
However, I don’t share the same feelings for anyone that took advantage of the bug. They can scream that they didn’t know as much as they want, but they’re full of crap.
Not responding to you after this. You’re an utterly complete waste of my time and effort. I don’t sympathize for anyone that breaks a rule and gets yeeted.
