Yup - ignored and moved on. Borg’s got some brains on him though - hope to see him in a PUG sometime soon!
yea Id much rather play an MMO where everyone’s running in circles opening chests and killing the same mob for 8 hours a day. I honestly couldn’t tell you the last time someone on my server did an end game dungeon. No one advertises it in global or recruitment chat and when I did try to get a group by advertising I got 0 responses. Very good system in a supper healthy MMO.
Chris, if you can get the dev team to make Light’s Embrace function like the priest’s Penance, I will send pizza.
Jokes aside, I 100% agree on LFG being a bad bad sign for this mmo. I also do not agree on the faction’s being locked on territory control, what they should do instead:
- make the lore more robust for factions. So you actually have to think about your faction selection instead of being throw on a beach and picking one from some random NPC standing on a box. What happens if your faction selection gives you extra effects on certain weapon combos? Why does the great axe/war hammer combo work the same for the green vikings, the yellow church goers, and the purple mad scientists who all have different philosophies (if you can read all three lore pages ). Missed MMO potential here.
- Once that robust lore and selection take place (should happen 100% on character creation or happens in the first 10 levels of your life from the beach NPCs as a ground breaking starting player experience btw), then remove that awful faction transfer selection. There is no love/hate currently in the factions, so there is also no loyalty. Or at least have it so that factions with one territory and lower numbers than the other two can have the faction swap open for them only.
- wars can be too niche so it’s no surprise when big companies start losing war members based on too many happening in a given week or at the wrong time. Take away the war selection time from the player; it should be randomly generated so territories are being lost from having unfavorable conditions (like real wars). Wrong time and wrong place should be upfront and center. Or have additional objectives that other pvp modes can do to help influence the outcome of a war or takeover of a town.
- overall I think it is ok when a faction dominates. The more zerging the side, the less skillful they stay. The true pvp players will change over to the underdog and 1vX as much as possible. That potential should be protected at all costs, least they fall into the zerg pvp trap that elder scrolls online fell into when they kept nerfing things that enabled smart 1vx gameplay.
- I am fine with bow/musket being strong at range. But if a weapon is to get a cap on range, it should be musket from a realistic standpoint. Gunpowder weapons from this time had half the range of bow with more stopping power at that distance and the more you got close up. Bow also had more accuracy even at those long ranges so that should be reflected as well.
Musket’s strength in NW was always in its application of traps and weaving into rapier. It’s actually the most historically designed weapon in New World in that regard; musketeers were constantly firing and moving to defensive positions to reload or running guerilla tactics.
I think there’s more selection and community involvement going on than you think.
For example in ESO’s LFG tool, they are constantly getting fake tanks queing up because DPS don’t want to wait out the long ques. And that’s an MMO with an actual class system with an easier gearing process than new world. I shudder to think what will happen when you go to use that LFG tool here and think you got a tank but find out it’s just some war hammer dps player lol.
Another point, you can setup your groups before hand with players you know. And then tailor your selection based on faction or company. LFG tools historically don’t let you filter because it’s que times ride and die on how many players use it. So it’s going to cast a wide net in order to get timers down, and as a group you may want more quality out of your players or specific ways you want to play the dungeon.
These are only issues in a fully automated lfg tool, but those tend to only be used for lower difficulty content where optimal group comps don’t matter. Since AGS may be adding multiple difficulties to dungeons (according to a recent leak), they could easily have a fully automated dungeon finder for only the lower difficulty(ies).
A system similar to WoW’s pre-made group finder isn’t fully automated and still allows you to filter and be more particular about forming your group before heading to the dungeon. It just makes finding people and organizing groups a lot easier than chat spam. Being able to pull from a larger playerbase since it’s cross-server is also kind of a critical aspect of its value.
I wasn’t aware when first responding to this thread, but if the leak is real/accurate, they are already working on a group finding tool, though no indication on if it’s an automated tool or just a bulletin board style system like WoW’s premade group finder or perhaps some combination of both for different difficulties. This at least brings me some hope that they know some of us like to pug and are going to make it easier to do that. Hope the dungeon changes also come with a huge re-vamp/removal of the orb system.
That nerd in the thumbnail looks like the old six flags guy they used to use in some ads lol.
I’ll find the leaks at some website after posting this. Assuming they attach the LFG to an in-game town board, that could be a cool way to introduce it. I am cautious about these types of systems because New World already has a bunch of them and it makes it feel clunkier than it should because they run perpendicular to the robust world instead of parallel.
lol, yea I’d never heard of him but that was a suggested video for me on youtube, which is how I finally saw them.
This is the website he references in the video:
edit: I hadn’t actually read the datamined strings for the dungeon finder before, but based on the strings in the datamine, it seems like an automated dungeon queue:
Time Elapsed:
Estimated wait time:
Join Expedition Queue
You will be kicked out of the queue if you leave the group.\nAre you sure?
Waiting for Expedition…
Your group is already in a queue for a different dungeon. Create a new group to open this dungeon.
Your group already has an active dungeon. All group members need to exit the active dungeon to open this dungeon.
You have been removed from the Expedition queue
Expedition is currently full. Join the queue to enter the expedition.
You are already in a queue for Outpost Rush
Also while you are nerfing the bow and musket, please nerf the GA and Hammer as both are way to OP.
Please get rid of gravity well from the GA and the stun from the hammer as it’s not fair getting stuck in either of those while five other hammer or GA uses button mash you into the ground.
Seriously some people complain about things to much.
People keep calling for the musket to be nerfed but you do realise it is a ranged weapon for doing maximum damage at a distance right?
If you are going to nerf weapons designed to do max damage at a distance then they also need to nerf weapons that do max damage by rendering a player motionless so a group can kill them.
It takes a lot more skill to hit a moving target from a couple of hundred metres away than it does to gang bash a motionless target that can’t fight back right in front of you.
Lets assume for one minute that there are indeed 9 territories, instead of eleven. You do realize if you capped each faction at 3 a piece it would end in a deadlock with no territory wars. You could limit each to 4, but a limit of 3 would break the game entirely.
Moot since there are currently 11.
“Are they though? Do you have any metric research to prove “half are solo”, because this is far from what i know to be true.”
I think the issue here is everyone can see your obviously talking out of your ass and if you have any experience at blizzard it was probably as the coffee boy…
Not this Joker again. Stop impersonating wow staff. If you think DF added to the decline of wow I don’t know what you are smoking. Removal of gear sets added to the decline. Addition of weekly Movable goal posts added to the decline of the game and the wow token was the nail in the coffin. Because it hyper-inflated the market and gave rise to the booster’s who sell bosts to fund there mythic progression.
Haven’t read the entire thread yet. Just giving my quick response before reading the book above.
There are too many crazy ideas and opinions about what they should and should not do.
The only thing they should NOT do is listening to every crazy person on the forums. They need to trust themselves and go forward with what they think is right for the game. Read all feedback, but take it with a grain of salt. Some feedback are great ideas that they can build upon, but most are not.
Let’s just cross our fingers and hope this nonsense is not something they decide to listen to.
Yea just about to quote that.
Not a good sign lol
That ship sailed when they turned their pvp game into a wow clone lol. Been a cascade of things you shouldnt put into an mmo ever since lol.
Well there is still hope in my opinion. I love the game, much because I think it has more potential than any other mmo on the marked. So far it has been a rollercoaster, but I try to stay positive.
Yea same. I will adjust.
giggle
They do that to us… and I’m guaranteed out. I love that this game has a viable ranged alternative to caster weapons, and it isn’t just the reskinned projectile animation like WoW
(What would be the point of zone capture then?)
Though I do think they need to have an “underdog” buff when one faction is very clearly being pooped on in a server. (Soft pressure.)

Ags, You need to pay attention to danger signs that are happening in the game right now DO NOT
- Patch the next patch with out nerfing musket/bow range to a max of 40-50m
Blockquote
Musket is in a good spot and should be effective at range it compliments its “ultimate” with the x3 zoom.
Bow needs help and is already a close range weapon and you want to remove its potential effectiveness from range?
Bow users can’t kite without switching to a second weapon and you want to force them into even more unfavourable circumstances?
Besides hitting moving targets outside of 40-50m with a bow is hard enough already due to drop and projectile velocity that players who get lucky or get a skill shot in like that should be rewarded!
You must be a melee player - chuckle
