Definitely not true.
I would raise you an idea higher, make 1-2 servers per region that are seasonal. Maybe 3 months per cycle. Leveling becomes relevant, playing with a group rather than solo becomes relevant, mastering a craft or gathering becomes relevant(because people have not had time to master everything on a single character).
Allow companies to remain intact between resets, leader and maybe co-leader remain in company automatically, everyone else needs to rejoin. Add company achievements that they receive throughout and at the end of a cycle as achievements. For example, 1 season completed while holding 2 or more cities and things like this where companies create legacies throughout the seasons.
The best part of new world is the leveling, gearing, and crafting experience. Feels like an easy way to give your players more ways to play the game without taking away from people who want to play on permanent servers. Not to mention, players who leave the game have a chance to come back every 3 months for one or more seasons without feeling like they are super behind or logging into pvp with fully maxed-out characters to get pummeled.
Although when people realize how much better seasonal NW would be, those permanent servers will likely empty, so companies dominating at the moment will be salty as hell. Keep the number of those seasonal servers low, maybe even just 1 per region, and they will likely have a plentiful population.
That one is actually super easy. Taxes go into company vault, company vault cannot be withdrawn from. Problem solved! They just need to bring some kind of system where taxes can be spent since upgrades would not be enough to spend that much gold. Imo they should bring a shop where defending companies can buy special equipment with gold on defense. Mass horn is already meta in most sieges, maybe that can shake the wall setup a bit.
Yep so what makes you think fresh servers are the answer when territory management doesn’t change yet? You play casually, what’s going to hold back a group of “no lifers” grinding out easy gear, buying territories ASAP collecting all the gold just to repeat the cycle that happens on older servers? People claiming new fresh start non transferable servers are the answer clearly haven’t thought it through. Fresh start servers shouldn’t come until the territory management they mentioned is complete, otherwise casuals are going to get outpaced and end up on forums crying about it.
Back when the dupes happend, there was no way for players that didn’t participate in the dupe to compete with the ones that did. We were playing outpost rush everyday since that was basicly the only content at the time. After the exploits and dupe glitches almost 75% of the games were filled with full voidbent sets. Don’t try and tell me they all got it overnight in a legit manner. So no, companies were getting stomped out of territories because of these dupes. Yes we need a fresh start
I love the Idea of Fresh Start Servers that u cannot transfer to. Will be some sort of release feeling getting out doin all the stuff with all them new ppl together rather than alone. cant just buy everything in the trade post got to craft stuff on my own. and most obviously territory/coin problem got fixed atleast some of it which provides for more fair experience overall. Would love to hear AGS thoughts about it. Go ahead and like the thread if ure all for it so AGS actually sees that we want that shit to happen.
Everyone out here arguing about why things are good and bad but really boil it down. Does it even matter? New servers are gonna be made due to pop so just make some fresh servers… the end… these arguements are kind of just dumb at their cores… people arguing about all the wrong things just to be forum warriors or something
I’m one of the large chunk of players that left the game early on (80% of the playerbase?), I left because of the constant bugs and exploits that was going on. I played the current PTR, I really like it but I won’t come back unless there’s a fresh start server that doesn’t allow transfers from legacy servers.
Too many players exploited the bugs on the current servers since launch, even if they have been banned and it is highly unlikely they’ve been ALL banned. Territory’s have been won using the god mode exploit showed by JoshStrifeHays, even if the cheater got banned, his guild has profited from his cheating and haven’t been banned and are free to dump their winnings into the economy and gear themselves like a king.
Sure, fresh start no-transfer-from-legacy servers won’t stop people no lifing the game to get ahead as fast as possible using existing knowledge, but that isn’t why people want fresh start no-transfer-from-legacy servers. People don’t want to play with cheaters or other players who have benefited from ill gotten gain from one of the worst mmo launches in recent memory, before AGS finally decided rollbacks were a thing and by then it was too late because too much time has passed.
The sad truth is back when first merge happened, there were many known dupers on our servers that duped tons of trophies and sold them, everyone knew them by names and not a single one of them got banned for more than 48 hours, some didnt get banned at all.
that leads me to believe that the majority of players that abused the system have never got in trouble for it.
Make the server player limit 1k and open 4-5 sub channels. That’s the only need
More than 1000 players cause lag and bugs. Why can’t you see them yet?
Please make fresh start servers. Transfer only allowed after 3+ months/ after merging with other fresh starts (If it is needed). Only way I will come back is fresh start servers.
I support fresh start but permanently no transfers from legacy servers, only from other fresh servers. We want fresh start to avoid the cancer that came from the exploits, there’s no point when the mega rich and uber geared can transfer into the fresh start servers after 3 months just to destroy it.
ABSOLUTELY NOT. Alot of people have jusjt returned. majority are returning players , not new players.
- Too early to see what the return ratio is. People might get bored after a week and just quit again. Then you’re stuck witih empty server and here bitching about no one to play with
- This low server cap will continue to be an issue and servers will get added/removed/merged as the population fluctuates. Unless they introduce megaservers , which i cannot see how that’ll happen because of the dogshit game engine they decided to go with, this is how it is. Accept it.
Anyone whining for fresh servers just wants to have all the harvesting resources for themselves and start the rat race again to get 60 first, control territories etc.
People crying for a new server will just play for two months and quit again.
What about the many posts of players that are not willing not come back unless there are fresh servers, how about all the people that are not a part of the forum who feel the same way, i have personally 3 friends that playing rust and wont come back until that happens, are you really willing to screw all those people over because you think they will get bored and quit and on top of that you worried about empty servers.

The duped gold in the old economy is a drop in the bucket compared to what the current market inflation rate is.
Most of went towards mats that were blown trying to craft BIS pre shirking fort meta.
Also who cares if we bought territories he literally wasted 800k because he can’t hold those territories. He did bigger companies a favor by paying the 100k.
They may have had an impact then, but not now.

We need fresh servers with no transfers. I am returning from when the trading posts were closed and I am playing on the PTR because I don’t want to deal with the current servers.
Most of the top gold sellers in games are hacking the gold, you just dont hear about it because thats how they make money. A documentary on some guy that made millions hacking wow gold back in cata through wod, wildstar and other games. i remember watching and eventually he quit and now contracts security to gaming companies.
You will hear about easy dupes but you will never hear about the very complicated hacks that people generate wealth for the purpose of selling, people makes millions doing it so its not something they share.
