By never allowing legacy servers to interact with fresh start servers, AGS has essentially split New World into two games with two separate communities. This is a horrible idea for the longevity of the game. It is a punch in the face to those of us that do not want to start over.
A much better idea would be to let fresh start servers have a whole year to themselves before opening them up to legacy players.
I am not interested in playing a MMORPG that has multiple locked communities.
How about being happy that the game is gaining popularity by giving players what they ask for. And not listening to the 'PLAY THE GAME HOW IT IS" crowd from a year ago.
In mmorpgs noone cares about you, noone cares about your stats, your gear, yourself. It’s just an illusion.
You guys are just mad newbies won’t come and look at your worthless stats you worked for for 1k hours.
Noone cares.
Let people play whatever they enjoy
Be happy the game you invested time in gets exposure and drawing people in.
This leads to revenue and hopefully consistent and more content
It’s just another server. What for dividance of the community.
You’ve dozen of servers with people you won’t ever interact with.
Your head is messing with you
95% of servers are still legacy servers. Worst case they get merged together.
They won’t let sth happen like early release again. So there’s nothing to worry about.
The only thing you can worry about is how you can’t be toxic vs people with worse gear against.
Everyone can join the Fresh Start community, they are even giving everyone a 3rd character slot so they can without loss of an existing character… so HOW is this dividing the community when EVERYONE can join in on ANY server?
Many people who play MMOs dont want multiple characters.
Especially in New World. There is no point for multiple characters in New World. You’re one character can do everything. So all the time and effort we put into our legacy characters will lose value.
Well, they still have the choice, its not like AGS said you cant join this server, but everyone else can.
Your argument is that the FSS server separate the community… well so did the region servers at the start, so did servers at the start… Before they introduced transfers EVERYBODY was separated and had to create new characters to join another server.
Those who dont want to join the FSS or create a new character dont have to, nothing is forcing them into anything, they can play how they like to play.
I think the general fear is: if all the new players will join only the new ffs servers, after 11/2, can be that legacy servers will start to die? I guess this is the main concern.
They are fixing territory control, hopefully they will keep the bots and dupes in check now that they’ve learned how to deal with it better. The returning players shouldn’t have to compete with sweaty companies that have millions of gold and BIS gear. I don’t know why you’re upset, you can chose to also play on these servers or continue to play on your full server, I don’t see the problem
You don’t pick a mage when you make your character. You become one by choice. And you can turn into a archer just as fast.
People with well over 3k hours in the game have still not maxed all their trade skills, weapons etc. There is no point for a second character unless you just want to experience leveling again.
Terrible decision and the proof that they have no clue how to handle growth of their game. They’re going to run into huge issues down the line with this, mark my words.
Either the legacy servers are going to run completely dry over time because of the lack of new players joining (which we have seen time and time again with other games attempting a soft-relaunch) or the Fresh Start Servers are going to fall off quickly after the initial honeymoon phase without any possibility to ever merge these servers into legacy ones.
AGS has struggled massively with population control since launch and to this day they’re constantly falling short of managing population movement correctly. Now having to manage two different populations longterm will mean that it will take away from the game one way or another.
Don’t get me wrong, I want people starting over on the FSS to have a great time and I want the game to grow, but I think this was definitely not the right decision at all.
Do you care what the other 99% of players on other legacy servers are doing on a daily basis, I know I don’t, heck I don’t care what most people are doing on my own server. What you keep posting makes no sense, this is what players have asked for, let them have it and either join or don’t that is your choice.
But what happens if the population dwindles on these FSS (they most likely will)? They don’t have much choice but to re-assure people they will have a populated server no matter what happens
