I remember when everyone said fresh start servers would be dead in 2 weeks to 2 months once all the hype train kiddos and streamer interest died down again.
Long term the only direction players can move is from FSS to legacy with merges only taking place b/w fresh servers.
The way AGS has set up FSS is like any other MMO that creates CATCH UP SERVERS, thats literally what they are functioning as. If there is any long term interest in fresh players still playing that dont transfer to legacy they will merge the fresh servers.
They are literally designed to have players play the game get comfortable with it and then transfer to legacy.
IDGI are these servers doomed and a waste of AGS’ time or are they existential threat to legacy servers? Can yall quit it with the histrionics, just as bad as the ppl crying that Fresh start servers were coming 2 weeks after Brimstone.
I mean, it is bad they are comming now.
The hype died. All games come out around that time. So a lot of players who were interested in those will likely not play atm.
But that’s probably what they want. Guess less players and good press is what they prefer atm
They’ve changed how gold is distributed between territories (with more changes to come - hopefully reducing gold income for ownership), you also don’t have all the duped gold that entered those servers. I don’t think it will be near as bad as legacy servers and people can earn decent gear now without spending money
Lololol. Legacy servers arent going to die. What in the world? Hardly anybody i know is going to do a fresh start character. And even doing fresh start, i will still enjoy getting on and doing OPR and 3s with my friends who arent doi g fresh start.
It’s more the entitlement of these new players crying about legacy servers that annoys me. I say no transfers either way. They can’t transfer to legacy until transfer are opened both ways…
They are starting with four fresh servers in EU, those can be merged later if needed or more servers added should the flood gates break and more players turn up than expected. However, if things got dire for those Fresh Start Worlds, numbers dropped, those four can be merged together to provide a more active server.
Only then, is when the word “never” potentially going to be re-looked at, but as we know with all games - content is subject to change. If things really are that bad, they may just merge into the old worlds.
Remember, Brimstone Sands did have queue’s for popular servers as people came back, but even now, servers are being unlocked again as people moved servers, helping balance out populations. I think AGS have learned from previous mistakes. Just our impatience at wanting to play on certain servers, when they are full, is causing resentment, which we all understand and appreciate.
If they are feeder servers then you would be required to transfer off once you hit a certain level. Cause after a year the “feeder server” as you put it is just going to be another regular server…
The anger that they have is mostly from fear. That those they abuse on normal servers, will move to fresh start servers. Leaving their servers barren of victims to stomp.
They don’t want to have to leave behind their 2,000+ hours of progression behind to play with people. These are people who spent at least 8 hour everyday since release, to walk like demigods on the legacy servers. They enjoy being able to just effortlessly win against the majority of players, that they are afraid of dipping once fresh start servers open. Which means they wasted more than 2k hours of their lives for gear and wealth that they’ll have very few to lord it over.
That is ultimately these people grief about fresh start servers. It’s why vertical progression gear based PvP MMOs don’t work in this day and age. Because at a minimal such measures are required to entice potential newer players into the game.
If this game was like Guild Wars 2’s horizontal progression. This game wouldn’t have 1/4th of the problems it has.
People would be able to shake off meta shifts every 3 months easily.
Dups and exploits wouldn’t be much of a problem.
More people would be interested in the PvP scene in this game. Meaning more Openworld PvP, and shorter arena and Outpost Rush queues.
But at last here we are. Another example, why vertical progression gear based PvP scenes are on a downtrend. Remember we have options for quick and competitive PvP. Gone are the days where the only forms of PvP exist in grinder MMOs.
