Blunderbuss is obviously going to be ideally paired with the bow or rapier. I expect it to fill the roll of helping them keep even more separation from people that are trying to chase them.
it would be interesting too, these control skills to aid in the escape. but why do you think this? she seems to be medium range and if she really has a harpoon, it wouldnāt do much to get away.
I just hope I can destiny year 1 slide shotgun fools with my rangefinder shot package perks, maybe even add a blink to the weapon.
Yeah how about we get the lag fixed first. If they can even fix it.
This may be intended. It does not appear that the traditional ātankā was what the designers wanted.
Just look at the armor perks you can search for on the TP. Some of those perks are attached to the oddest assortment of builds and types.
Also, there are two weapon slots for a reason, I believe. The most common for a while was s/s + LS.
Perhaps there are untapped options for weapon switching that most tanks have not discovered yet.
Aggro though is more complex in this game than in others. That means tankānāspank isnāt going to be the best option.
As to the suggestions: why not! They allow for different techniques and builds already. It will be interesting to see what they include.
there even rapier tanks as option too and that has a decent chunk of mobility throw in GA for the charge and gravity well for even more mobility/CC for rapier attacks.
Things I wish for Blunderbuss:
- STR main stat, maybe split to INT (Plenty of Dex weapons already).
- Hook skill to pull a single target.
- Hard slow skill. Maybe this Net icon (No root please, we already have plenty of roots in the game)
- A shotgun like skill. (Because I miss bow old splinter shot).
- Medium ranged shots (Like hatchet throws but without the awfull drop).
What roles are you talking about because no melee can catch a light ranged user.
Ideally youād want all classes to have play and counter play. The issue right now is a lot of meele outside the GA lacks gap closers and all classes lack much in the way of anti CC talents.
So couple that with no diminishing returns on CC and you get messy one sided rock paper scissors combat which isnāt the way you want a game to play as that forces people down meta rabbit holes.
So whatās the point? Tanks do need gap closers but everyone needs ways to avoid that gap getting closed besides dodging as in large groups dodging becomes impossible and then you get CCd to death.
that would be awesome!
Actually, the purpose of a Tank in PvP in general, at least in other MMOs, is to be a force multiplier as well as a sponge. Tanks in NW donāt have the force multiplier effect of having stuns, since the āstunsā in New World are really just sleep spells. The whole point is that unless you plan it out, just rushing headfirst towards a tank will usually spell your demise, since their kit is designed to punish players.
However, I donāt know about giving tanks chasing ability. It feelsā¦not tanky. Thatās more of a bruisersā mindset of rushing in and closing the distance to kill someone.
but a pulling skill is the mark of a tank, miss that in the NW
just thinking about having a chain or a harpoon makes me happy
sorry but warhammer is pure tank weapon. has aoe aggro shockwave with gem, has many fortify buffs if u look close enough, tons of cc and even some sustain.
juggernaut tree is leaning more towards bruiser and crowd crusher is perfect for tanking.
Pretty sure blunderbuss is str/int or dex/int.
The devs said in the video that it would pair well with melee weapons and some staffs.
youāre right, I had forgotten about that āand some staffsā part. I agree with you, it can be STR/INT or INT/STR, nice!
Oh? Which skill allows ranged CC?
OP, nice find. Iām interested in the weapon but I get the impression itāll be another CQ affair which is fine. I just wish the devs realised that itās important to have at least one long range CC option in the game to counter ranged damage.
And when I say CC, I donāt mean a 2.5s stun. Thatās not going to cut it for long range CC. Iād even suggest that such a skill be limited to a minimum range (so you cannot use it close up).
Those icons make me believe the blunderbuss will be more utility than damage but weāll see.
Also, am I the only person that hopes great sword isnāt just another STR weapon? I mean, it probably will be. But itād be nice if it wasnāt, somehow. When I rolled STR I had such a huge range of weapons to pick from. But as a DEX monkey you really only have a handful of options because DEX is so divided by INT, pure DEX or DEX/STR that you really only end up with 2-3 options if you want to be any good at them.
STR builds can use GA, GH, SS, HA and still function quite well using Spear, all without needing to respec anything and still maintain full functionality of those weapons. Adding a sixth would just overdo it.
Iād actually be happy if Blunderbuss entirely avoided strength. Maybe INT/DEX. But Iād be even happier if the GS was something else. But I guess weāre running out of options here anyway. I imagine itāll be 100% STR.
Maybe weapons could start scaling off Con?
They also are front line engagers that have gap close and aoe cc lock down in many games. Sword doesnāt have much of that atm. Tanking in Albion is so much more fun and a more balanced take on what a tank is.
I agree, tanking in NW, especially the sword, needs special attention
Discussing pvp weapon combat myself. Hatchet, rapier, and Spear can all use carnelian as well. Doesnāt make them a tank.
Tbf to your point hammer definitely can be used in a tank build. What Iām saying is the weapon by itself doesnāt make a player a tank. Where as for most sword players that weapon does.
Hammers are most commonly used by bruisers or melee dps. As many or more players on Valhalla use hammer with light or medium armor as heavy. Game is classless so itās semantics to a degree though.
