AGS: Mage is only weak in mutations. Is this a joke?

So your main argument for mages being strong is quoting damage of one of if not the slowest projectile in the entire game? Cool.

Bow has more kill pressure, range and conditional crits. Its hitbox is actually nearly the same after the bow “overhaul” that occured couple of months ago.

Firestaff having higher rate of fire? Not too sure but it mos def has longer animations and it costs you more to cancel them than it does for a dexterity player.

Flamethrower? :laughing:This ability is a joke, failed design, no serious FS player actually uses it. Its only good for cheesing pepegas with a pocket healer, give me a break.

Brunout being a “great” escape ability? Argumentative to say the least.

Take your git gud advices somewhere else if you can not back it up with decent arguments bruv, seriously. Looks more like you should get better yourself.

Devs hate mages. God forbid a mage looks good in war. It’s always “stat padding”. Meanwhile, melee light attacks staggar to the point of it being unplayable and get all the whiny tank crying on the forums that they cant outdamage a damage dealing gamer. “Me tank, me see clump, me go in, me hit mage 3 times, mage dead. Now I area chat angrily that theyre useless stat padders, but not me, no, my stats trash because me burn in fireball aoe that one time when useless healer couldnt catch up to me and my stupid decisions.” How about give everyone assists for being near a kill? And fix not being able to move after being light attacked by a melee. If you got 2 melees attack a target, there is no outplay. Desync too bad. Oh is that a mage? Garbage player, delete FS and IG and keep dex meta forever, why dont you.

Way to keep the convo civil (not) …first off mages absolutely get shit on in mutations. I’ve been told that I won’t get into any mutes if I play Mage mainly.

2nd someone else here already even moreso than I did, blew your whole argument about how OP the FS is and folks just need to “get gud” out of the ballpark. 4k damage on a meteor shower is utter garbo compared to how much i can damage you with a light or heavy attack and the fact that I can literally get up in your face and stun lock then kill you with a combo chain. The long cast time for your flame dash means i get 2 more hits on ur face …if you manage to somehow get the cast off the distance you travel is nothing. I will roll after you come up swinging and you’re toast. I dont’t even need to crit at this point. Since you will have around 7 k hp (at best unless you run full con gear-gimping your damage completely) i do that much dmg with a single light attack right now.

So get out of my face thinking you can survive against a GS user who knows how to use the weapon

They also hit mages with something like 17 nerfs in a single patch, which you know, made them less popular.

Theres no point in trying to keep it civil, none of you understand that the problem is in YOU. If you struggle to kite someone and shoot them then swap weapons. I mean seriously, its embarrassing. If melee is so strong then go use it. Lets see how amazing you do when trying to chase down someone who just keeps dodging backwards and shooting you. If you cant do well with a fire staff that has ginormous hitboxes on abilities and auto attacks then i wonder how you will react to the inaccurate tracking on all melee weapons including greatsword :joy:

You think a 4k fireball is some big thing, it’s not it only hits 4k on 50 con light armors or light armor with no resil. It typically hits 2-3k. Bow can easily light attack for 4k. I played FS since VG launch up till a week ago. I am playing light GS/SNS now and I’m doing very well thank you. It
so ridiculously strong half the time it doesn’t feel fair. I think you have absolutely zero clue what you are talking about. Those emotes you like to use in your messages just make you look like a tool btw.

Fireball does not hit 4K lmao. It’s a 140% damage skill with a skill perk for 32-58%. It’s hitting 2.3k on average and big crits are around 3.1K. You are classic of example of bad player who doesn’t play mage and talks about things he doesn’t understand. Because you are bad at the game and can’t catch mages you think Firestaff is strong, it’s not. Any melee with an ounce of skill right now can catch mages.

I know it’s just a start, but here are some changes that hit the PTR, and for reference these weren’t made yesterday! Changes take time and testing before they even go to the PTR, so we have been not only hearing your feedback, but playing as all builds ourselves, so we understand.

  • Increase the damage of the “Smolder” damage over time effect applied by Flamethrower ability, and the Singe and Watch it Burn passives from 6% to 10%
  • Increase base damage of the Fire staff weapon by 3.5%

Combat is every evolving and we’ll continuing fine tuning. :saluting_face:

im using a bane-keen-vicious fire staff with 300 int and no gear that would boost my damage at all. But sure it doesn’t hit for 4k i guess. I also hit the dummy before that with a light attack so I don’t get the bonus damage from 300 int

I mean in my own youtube videos from like february my fire balls do over 2k to medium players (i was medium in those clips) and thats obviously before the 100000 mage buffs. So once again youre all bsing but its kinda all you do. No skill just crying. My gear was also trash at the time but fireballs doing over 2k. interesting

we understand that Aenwyn but the issue has been delayed for too long. 8 months now , since april 2022 mages dps fire ice is not more meta in war, i have friends that play in multiple servers , ones who play wars at high level aren’t many, you actually know companies and people, stuff are pretty common knowledge.

Firestaff and Ice Gauntlet are magic weapons which require rework which would make those synergize more both pvp and pve, more named items for the class. it was super hard at the beginning with no voidbent, now even more.

TOO many nerfs killed the class because of ice gauntlet abused from other weapon combo/perks, Light equip for being too OP on other classes. Now Ig is just a support weapon, relegated to tomb and slow, firestaff relegated to trash weapon both pve and pvp.

Buffs are cool but the PROBLEM still : no utility, NO ig buffs. Make tomb and abilities INT BASED, so tomb would be stronger not based on hp but INT, same for firestaff, then rework some of abilities and passives. Self-slow everytime you botton press make it really cluncky, it’s bad to play.

Some of the abilities have WAR concept, large scale damage such a meteor shower have never been used in war for how long? Windchill that could be used to push players out of WAR GATES have never been used much or at all.
Incinerate and pillar considered just stat pad, you must be on light to do a noticeable damage and u’re really weak in war.

played 2000 hours ONLY MAGE, i have ONLY firestaff ice gauntlet and void gauntlet at 20. Considered a big mage accross multiple servers, now im forced to play VG IG medium ( void gauntlet) or i would be kicked from wars, yes . this happened in different guilds, that’s common knowledge firestaff is not meta…no sense of a class ( dps mage ) and if i try to go firestaff in dungeon they’d kick me so i don’t play mutation.

You don’t understand how much is this frustrating. PEOPLE QUIT THE GAME coz of it.

HEAR IT AND BUFF DPS MAGE, bring them META in WAR and mutation.

If this is love, can we swap that for whatever strength builds are getting?

A 3.5% damage buff on fire staff is cool and all, but what mage weapons need most are bug fixes and making the skills more usable.

If there are any bugs we’re not aware of, let us know, but most of if not all the bugs are en route to be fixed quickly or already fixed in PTR!

Buffs? Mage got heavily NERFED since then.

I hope so. A lot of bugs have been there since release.

For QoL, can burnout not take forever to activate, pillar of fire not be insanely finicky to even get the skill shot off, there not be a ~1.5 sec delay after casting ice storm before you can cast Ice Shower, can Ice Pylon target my target or at least not decide to randomly pull extra mobs into the fight, can Entomb work with Detonate, and… well there are about 50 other suggestions from Forum Mages.

The devs are biased against magic. The elemental type of dungeons directly effect mage, healer, and does nothing to the already immortal hatchet which alot of M groups are now ONLY taking hatchet. It’s actually mind numbing at this point the idiocy of these directors. They have 0 game knowledge and 0 insight to game survivability. Apparently all they can do is 3D model which at this point the scenery is all NW has going for it

@Aenwyn This statement is what casters have been begging to hear for FAR too long. We know things take time. But when you all take that long to respond while actively responding to gun/melee threads, you leave the public to draw their own conclusion and that is how they collectively felt. Once you started trying to post the last few weeks… Casters started trying to bring patience back into the fold because they now have a bit of hope. Don’t let them loose it again.
This needs to become habit for the CM’s. You let way to many people leave and not even give them a “stick around we’re workin on some fixins”. Months went by and thousands posted… That shouldn’t happen anymore in the future please. But as promised…
