AGS merged our full purple server into a full purple server?

Update: 15 minutes in, I just saw my first yellow.

Update: just found a second yellow! Glad we are so populated, thanks AGS! You really did a great job taking faction balance into account.

@KelsierNW

Originally the plan was tobe more selective when matching servers to merge.

But they are limited by the fact they can only merge servers within a world set.

Populations declined so rapidly they were forced to fuse entire world sets in response.

So basically in many cases the outcome is going to be whatever it is.

You could also make it fun and have some groups switch factions and battle it out again.

You’re assuming any guild will actually transfer? I’d love to see it but that’s not happening. For now it’ll just be me and the other two yellows I’ve seen. Fun fun.

Population is the primary concern, you guys can balance the factions on your own.

AGS literally said they were going to merge taking factions into account. I can’t force other guilds to join the dead factions.

Its deliberate.

If it is evenly balanced now, then in 4 or 6 or 8 weeks when a faction dominates, 2/3rd of the players will leave.

Well their deliberate methods are just going to lose more people, since what’s the point of playing a PvP game when you cannot even get people to PvP with?

Sounds like I misunderstood and you are the yellow. I can see where that would stink. Hopefully you find more or they give transfer tokens once mergers are done.

Even on my server their is a majority faction usually holding 6+ of the prime territories and gouging everyone with tax dupes etc. so even with a better faction mix some hardcores will always take over

Saw it on streamer servers where the main streamers lost control and had their map taken by other faction so you aren’t totally alone.

Yup

It’s in the inherent design of the faction system and taxes. Owners of one area have a lot more resources to take another which gets them a lot more resources to take a third etc etc. there’s no downside to ownership or logistic ‘costs’

Plus it’s human nature and a good chunk of the PvE crowd will want a single color for the cheap travel since they never take part in the PvP open world stuff.

There needs to be a fix for this if the game is to have long term health. From their recent OPR fiasco though I don’t know if they realize it or know how to fix.

Easiest would be to make travel costs equal for everyone regardless of ownership or faction. It may not be a wise choice from a PvP perspective and doesn’t solve any of the actual issues but I can see them doing it. I think their roadmap is going to be less PvP and less meaningful purpose to it.

To fix they need to remove the snowballing somehow and find a way to combat single color ownership. Like a reset or corrupted takeover etc

Well at least you didn’t get moved to a server where one company owns majority the territories…I got moved from a server where it was a two faction race, to a server dominated by one, and one company owns 5 territories…I was excited for the merges, but now feel even more deflated and worried about getting ahead in this game, and I’m pretty sure the rest of the players from my old server who is faced with this scenario feel the same way…

Congratulations!

They promised this to us Aussies in one world set…

  • Zara, Barzakh, Hsuan, Kibu, Geatland and Erythia will be merging into Alakapuri for Pangaia Theta.

But they went back on their word and made 2 servers instead of one.

I am SO lucky now to be on a new server that has 100 players… I am ecstatic.
I hope the sarcasm doesn’t override the fact that I am angry…

What were they thinking?

If they had merged the whole world set, there would have been around 800 players… an average server.
But it looks as though they merged the lowest pop servers to make another low pop server…

I am fuming…

I moved to an all green server, as in everything green.

My server was middle was all green, and only because green decided to let the other factions have some stuff.

My server and the new server were the most populated playerwise, around 300 at peak.

Another 3 servers merged with us. 80, 20, and 20 players at peak time.

I am green. I feel bad for players in the other factions. But the positive is we wont lose 2/3rds of players in 1 months time, maybe only 100.

You folks really think AGS can have any control over faction balance?

I mean… they have it so you can’t swap to the dominating faction. So yeah, I’m sure they can have some control over faction balance. To what degree remains unsure.

As far as the OP, they can only do so much when they can only merger certain servers with others and have to deal with what’s there.

As far as overall game what do you want? They limit how many territories you can have? The whole point is to encourage PVP not cap it. It’s the nature of a game like this, diehards are going to dominate. There is still plenty of other stuff to do even if you aren’t majority faction.

Doesnt mean anything when they have very few new folks playing the game. Chances are, 1 faction will eventually dominate the server. I would think they would offer free faction transfers on unbalanced servers.

Not saying I don’t agree but your point was if they had the capability of controlling the faction balance. I’m just saying they can and have shown from that one example.
