Musket can only scale well with rapier. In the attribute tree, we can see that musket and rapier is the only class that shares the attributes.
Compared to every other class, the utility that musket and rapier brings is close to nothin , especially when the next patch comes out and you get rid of the extra stam from evade.
musket needs to have another weapon that acctually scales with the primary.
IG/FS are op and scale well
healers have VG and insane heals and can still value rapier escape
strength… dont even have to talk about anything strength related…
for anyone who comes and says ‘musket op omg nerf nerf’, musket is the rarest class, right behind of blunderbuss. Show musket love that doesn’t include garbage camping in OPR. make sword and shield scale with int as well.
You can scale off int or focus when you fix the correct gem on the weapons.
It’s definitely a case whereby you need to rework musket but not cause so you can play another weapon with it but make the traps be worthwhile.
Right now pvp or PVE, there is little use for traps. Musket users just hide in high and far ground to get levels in their mortal empowerment. Even worst when you have 5-10 muskets doing the same thing. Eventually they will just camp outside the spawning area.
They are. I know someone that does great with a 300dex/50int/150con musket/spear build. Uses spear rends to make up for the dmg and cc to protect themselves. It’s possible but people just like the easy clap clear route
no, this is for comparison sake that ags doesnt care about muskets, but we are alooking at a rapier nerf and a stam nerf wich hurts muskets if mortal empowerment wasnt as OP as it is.
my discussion isnt that ‘I’ cant do it, ill prob beat all of you in 1v1s, im saying that many other weapon styles currently are far better balanced then the only thing musket is really ‘good’ with.
Right, but you don’t NEED to have weapons scale the exact same to be a good pair. Even in your examples, mage weapons scale just INT and LS / VG don’t even have the same scaling at all. Bow ONLY scales off dex. You’re asking for another dex/int weapon for no reason, other than you don’t understand weapon scaling.
You have plenty of weapons that pair with musket. And let’s be honest, the reason most people pair rapier with musket isn’t because the stat pairing is the same. It’s because rapier is the best “run away” weapon in the game.
you can also use spear with T2 elemental gem
yeah… it won’t be as efficent as rapier… but it’s not that big drop in damage, it’s still playable

And you see my friend, the issue is not in the musket itself, but in rapier. Rapier compared to other melee weapons feels like it stands out from other… no empowers, weaken, fortifies, slows etc. Rapier only offers damage but nothing else and that’s a problem

Its fairly obvious why that is so. Because the weapon scales with the same stats as musket.
You get to deal damage AND you keep your utility on low survivability build those who come but you can play 150 CON have yet to play the musket and see for themselves why you cant.
Lets go with the obvious ones -
Spear - Why not taking spear - Its cc is great but very telegraphed if you dont pair the weapon with another pre-CC melee weapon its pretty garbo. You are probably playing with 50 con at best so you arent really made for duelling.
Your Apex predators Hatchet with SnS negates spear completely - You vault kick he berserks.when he berserks he is immune to your javelin or sweep.

2. Hatchet - As its secondary stat is Dexterity its considered viable - Why isnt it viable -
You deal 40% less damage than regular hatchet players. Its just pretty much a utility weapon for you - Social distancing, Defy Death - You have no real dueling power though its good for musket vs musket duels long range as defy death can save your azz outside of that useless.
SnS
Fairly okay choice used to be very fun. Its more of a offmeta build not viable anymore due to the shieldbash leaping strike change. You do just meager amount of damage as secondary stat is only DEX again.
Dueling power is nonexistant. Countered by apex predator SnS hatchet.
Lets go now for the more exotic ones.
4. Ice Gauntlet
This one is a nice CC combination helps with melees. Again is countered by your apex predator SnS Hatchet. Has very high cooldowns and musket offers no utility so due to the high cooldowns meh. Close to no damage as you are into 150 perk specced.
Blunderbuss
Fairly okay CC stick. Deals no damage you have to go a certain build but then musket damage suffers. Decide whats your main weapon ( which should be musket as it offers no utility just raw damage). And that certain build will cripple either weapon so its kinda meh. But works as a fun build.
